Since Godzilla Unleashed has a small(er) character roster when compared to StE, I have a few recommendations as far as the monster-doubles are concerned.

For instance, the game should have only one Godzilla, giving you the option to choose Godzilla skin (i.e. 50s, 90s, and 2000). It should have only one MechaGodzilla with three "costumes / skins" (MechaGodzilla 1, 2 or 3)

Gigan could have his old design as an alternate costume as well.

That way, the roster has less doubles and leaves room for more unique characters. There won't be 5 Godzillas, 6 Ghidorahs and 2 Gigans.

People of Atari, please don't let this possibly best Godzilla game ever turn into a character fiasco like DragonBall GT Final Bout.

DB GT Final Bout was so long ago...

Welcome to Godzilla.

Feel free to look around on the Godzilla forums and comment.

Its been a while since you were at DBZ forums so I wasn't aware you were a Godzilla fan. :) Hopefully you remember me as I am one of the DBZ moderators and I am the moderator for Godzilla.

this one will have atleast 18 monsters so the roster is not going to be "small(er)" than STE's

Thanks for the welcome. I started playing Save The Earth one week ago, and while I had played Destroy All Monsters for the GC months ago, I got a bit excited with the franchise with this game.

Do you believe it's the games that got me semi-hyped with the franchise? Here in Greece the last 15 Godzilla films are all but unheard of. My father used to see the first Godzilla films with his friends to the movies, but I haven't seen any Godzilla until last year. I saw "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster", which I thought that sucked big time, but then bought Godzilla 2000 (the one with Orga) and that, I liked a lot.

I hope that the renewed Godzilla films will be entirely CG, since that's the true power of monster-films will be. Guys in rubber suits are SO last year ... (laughs).

Anyway, back in topic. Anyone thinks that monsters as alternate costumes / skins is a good idea?

Well Kuricoloken, the skins issue has been discussed before and it was revealed by Pipeworks Developer "Mr. Strange", that skins pose a problem in this type of game. It poses a problem due to different animations for each "suit type".

Though if you want to explore more about Godzilla Save the Earth this is the link to that forum here...

If you have X-Box LIVE, then there is a thread here to announce when you would like to play. Please include your time.

We used to have some PS2 players of the game at this forum, but they are all no longer seemingly playing online. There may be some out there, as I know a guy from DBZ, but I don't know if he still has it. I could ask if you like? :)

I appreciate the offer, really I do, but I always play solo. I'm not into multiplayer games. Not to mention that I play games that are like, 5-6 years old. For example, I just started playing X-Men Legends 1 on my X-Box. Who's going to be online for a game that old?

And besides, I cannot go online through consoles, because I buy everything from the US, causing conflicts with the Greek internet servers...

Thanks anyway.

I believe it was said at Gamefaqs, but I could be wrong.

Well welcome anyhow to the forum...:)

Thanks again. I always stick around until the game itself is released. Say, is Pipeworks still the creator of Godzilla games? If yes, I sure as heck hope it's going to have better framerate this time... StE is slow as heck.

yes Pipeworks is the developer.

It has a certain "slowness", but the left trigger button should make the characters move faster.

Do stick around even after the game release. There is a lot to share. :)

It's not the slowness that bugs me as much as the framerate. It would be awesome if Unleashed would run in 60 FPS.

I mentioned this before, but the basic idea of having multiple skins for each character is to see different versions of each monster without adding different sound files and animation sets, to save resources for more character/monsters.

There really is no reason for different animations for different skins; all you need is a different normal map/bump map and different textures painted on the skin, and you plug it in to the same mesh/biped/rig/animations.

Instead of having completely different monster characters for different versions of the same monster (as in Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee, and Godzilla Save the Earth), the idea is to add more monsters/characters to choose from, each one with 2-4 different skins/costumes.

If you look at Godzilla 90's & Godzilla 2000 in G:DAMM & GStE, it's the same monster, same animations, same sound files, with a slightly different model and slightly different colors.

Have any of you ever played any of the Dynasty Warriors game series? It's a perfect example of what I'm talking about: Same character, same animations/actions (with upgradable weapons and abilities), same voices, but also 4 different unlockable/selectable skins/costumes.

How about City of Heroes? It has massively modifiable skins/meshes, but uses the same animations for different powers, which saves resources.
I know there are many other examples of this in other games.
