View Full Version : Do you think the beams should be made more unique?

Like, make them more like they were in the movies.

For Example:

- Make SpaceGodzilla's take twice as long to charge, but it actually homes in on an opponent and will go around buildings to get them

- Change Destoroyah's so that it is a constant stream that can pierce through buildings

- Biollante's could be an ultra-damaging acid wash that has poor range, but if you shoot it at the sky and move back and forth, you can create a 'rain' effect to blanket the area

- Keizer Ghidorah's could take twice as long to charge, but takes twice as long to diminish, and instead of doing straight damage, it allows you to lift opponents or buildings (no matter the size, house-skyscraper) and throw them around

Stuff like that, so that beam weapons for every monster wouldn't be "same old, same old". What do y'all think?

I think they sound cool in theory but when having to apply them to a the game they might fall apart.

making it take twice as long to charge would have made spacegodzilla a sitting duck. he'd never have time to fully charge a beam however with the new control scheme this might not be such a problem anymore. since you can still move while charging. wrapping around buildings could be overpowering spacegodzilla despite taking twice as long to charge. what could be done if its not too difficult programming wise is to have the beam bend to reach kaiju that are side stepping or running away. maybe not exactly home in on them but with you controlling the beam you can make it bend towards them. but wrapping around a building could be abused.

this could probably work with the new control scheme too

- Keizer Ghidorah's could take twice as long to charge, but takes twice as long to diminish, and instead of doing straight damage, it allows you to lift opponents or buildings (no matter the size, house-skyscraper) and throw them around. this could be good but it would definately have to be a blockable beam unless maybe it was a full power.

Just an idea i'm going to throw out here...

Should Gabara be in Unleashed, I think it'd be cool if instead of having a beam he charged up electricity in his hands that could then be used to give extra damage when his attacks connect. And, should the weakness/resistance system return, ...Gabara would own the mechas :p

By the way, I like those Biollante and Destoroyah beam suggestions. Very cool.

I realize that some of these could be hard to do, and have the danger of making some people unbalanced. This is just one of those things that could make them game interesting, IMO.

It could make tactics come into play more, if you know you can't just hide from everyones beam.

That's true. It was fairly easy to just duck behind some buildings to avoid beams in STE. I like the idea of some beams going through buildings.

Heh, I always thought that the beams took too long for some monsters. I'd never make them load TWICE as long as normal.

Ironic you should say what you said about Destoroyah's, since Pipeworks actually made her beam more unique than before. Besides, Spacegodzilla's "homing" beam that you thought up would essentially do what you Destoroyah beam does, since it avoids obstacles to reach the target.

very true. Make it like in Godzilla 1985. With the Wii having more power than the X-Box I expect the beams should have more "sparkle" in the lighting.

It would help if they added more intense sound effects for explosions, like what you hear in some movies.

from what i've ready tim they're going to be making the sound effects alot nicer when it comes to destruction.

only 7 months left

is it comming out in november or october? if its october then i guess 6 months left

Hopefully November. I wouldn't mind if they pushed it back further. The more time they have the better the game will be. :)

I like the idea of some beams going through buildings.

Since we know building destruction has been improved, I'm curious if that will make beams be able to go through them... In the video the buildings seem to crumble away quite easily with a simple punch but, a beam is more powerful than a punch so... yeah...

As far as Space Godzilla is concerned, he doesn't need any extra help. After all, he is almost a boss as it is. Destoroyah can stay the same as well. I like your idea regarding Biollante, but don't think that Keizer Ghidorah should have a extensive beam charge if he is included.

Her!? :bulb:

Anyway, I just said some could take longer to charge to offset possible advantages. Then again, after playing StE again, they do take a while to charge as it is.

But, The main thing with Destoroyah, IMO, should be to make his beam constant, like the other monsters. His beam in StE is pretty useless for inflicting damage, compared to almost any othe monsters beams.

kaiju gender is kinda left up to interpretation or guesswork. tho i feel Destroyah is more of a male character theres really nothing to say that it is.

Yeah, I've just read some Destoroyah female theories.

I think he comes across as more male, but then again, I consider him more of an it, since he's made up of millions of tiny creatures/parasites.
