How stats should be placed?

I am curious as to how stats should be placed petaining to the character. Indeed if you were building a warrior you would imagine a lot of stength would be involved, but looking apon the Archmage in the begging, although he is only level 30, you begin to wonder exactly how stats should be placed.

I noticed this game sets you up for an array of different styles of characters, and probably more in upcoming patches and or expansions, so what stats are effective for each type, could someone help me out?
