This simple set will consist of several variations of invisible firework, laser and water jet emitters, or launchers, or whatever you want to call them. It's been in progress for quite a while (10 minutes), and the idea of it is so that you can create MixMaster shows with no collision detection and no visible launcher.
Of each type of... thing (fieworks, lasers and water jets) I will make a regular quarter tile version and an offset version, which goes in the centre, corner and edge of tiles. Plus, to save using the base aiming controls in the MixMaster all the time, each launcher will have different angled launch (or effect) points. So if you want a laser at 45 degrees, you just click on the launch point and you know it will be at exactly 45 degrees, so all your angles will remain consistent.
Because the launchers are invisible, you won't see where you're placing them (there is not option to have it visible when a window is open like with particles), so that is one minor problem. However, when you are placing a firework or whatever on a launcher, it lights up under the mouse anyway, so as long as you know roughly where you put it that isn't a problem. And rotating isn't a problem either, as each launch point on a launcher will be the same all the way round, if that makes sense.
For example, consider the following laser emitter:
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/9190/shot0187zs7.jpg
It has six launch points around an invisible cube. One launch point is on each face, pointing in a different direction, so you can have lasers pointing up down, and sideways.
So there'll be a version like this for a laser with a luch point on each face. Theen there'll be a version with a launch point in the middle of each side for diagonal and 45 lasers. Then there will be a version with a launch point on each corner, which will allow diagonal 45 dgree lasers. Then these three version will have an offset, and the same will be done for fireworks and water jets. That totals 18 launchers in the set. Follow? No? Nevermind.
The problem I am facing is that 18 launchers is quite a lot. The selction window works differently to other scenery items, more like fences on rides, as it goes across. When it gets to the end of the screen, it may not allow any more or delete some. I've worked out there's room for about a maximum of 34 launchers including the 5 existing ones, which means only 29 more can be made. If the screen resolution is bigger, 44 is the maximum, which means 39 more can be made. AvA is alos making a set of firework mortars too.
So - should I still make 18 launchers and risk making the selection window too long? Or should I somehow reduce the amount I make, and if so, which versions should I get rid of?
Please only answer if you understood what I said. Which is probably about two of you.
EDIT: I've also jsut noticed the thread that Soccerdude12 is making firework mortars. That means even less can be made...
