I am now making custom sceanery as well now. So I was wondering, could you tell me where you got those textures?

Most of them i've made myself, some i've made from the original pictures of the Mansion, and some are made from other sources. I guess you wouldn't finde textures to go - you will adjust everything to your needs. It's a lot of work.

Eezee, just a quick question...

Are you considering making a wall with an actual door opening, or simply the closed door for decoration purposes?

-eezee-
05-10-2007, 12:16 PM
Eezee, just a quick question...

Are you considering making a wall with an actual door opening, or simply the closed door for decoration purposes?

As you may know, the door at the original Mansion isn't the entry. So I guess I will make only this door. If I find some time and I'm in the mood, I may do also the actual entry to the ride ...

A question, anyone can tell me how to make the windows shine at night?????

Hi eezee, fantastic work. To make the set more versatile, would it be possible, to make the tiles not just angled, but straight (like the walls in your last shot)? Itīs just an idea, please donīt feel pushed.

Thanks for sharing.

Oh, please - first everybody is crying that there aren't enough diagonal pieces available, so I've made them, and now I should make them all straight (I even can't think straight :D )? No, I don't think that I'll make the whole set also straight. There are some wall pieces which are straight. Guess that should be enough for this set. I have plans for my Main Street Additions Set to add the same brickwalls in straight versions ...

A question, anyone can tell me how to make the windows shine at night?????

I don't think this is possible because only lights (and therefore effect points) automatically go on and off according to the time of day, textures don't. There is a trick you can resort to though. You can use a light with a small radius for each window : make the window panes (semi)transparent, add a wall/box behind the windows and place a light in-between.

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1568/boxzn6.th.jpg (http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=boxzn6.jpg)
The box is behing the window. You can place a small light inside the box.

If a brighter light (with a bigger radius) is placed near it, the former will cancel the latter.

Your work is amazing and so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it with us :)

I've done it now with "Unlit" this seems to work fine for me. I've made it recolorable and combined it with plain textures and alphas ... i think it looks very good. I don't have a problem, that the windows glows at day also.

I've try it with a small lamp like you suggested, but it doesn't look like i had in mind, anyway thanks again.

I've done it now with "Unlit" this seems to work fine for me. I've made it recolorable and combined it with plain textures and alphas

If the window is 'flat' (2D image) you could use an Emissive Mask texture instead of an Unlit texture AND an Alpha(Mask) texture. The Emissive texture also has a mask but instead of defining transparent areas on the texture, it indicates how much they should be affected by the ambient light. A white zone on the mask corresponds to an Unlit area on the texture (unaffected by the ambient light) while a black zone on the mask corresponds to an Opaque area (affected by the ambient light) ; scales of grey are intermediate values. So, for the windows and window frames, it would be black on the mask (Opaque/normal) and for the window panes, it would be white or light grey (Unlit/remains bright at night).

... i think it looks very good.

So do I ;) Amazing !

Eezee - this isn't a park-located castle. It's simply the castle from Beauty and The Beast. This is the best pic i can find of it - not very good tho (I think it's part of Le Pays des Contes de Fees at Paris). HAVING said that tho, I think that if Sleeping Beauty's was made, it might just be possible to do it with the current packs available

wow.. wonderfull.. nice work on the conservatory.... and I like how the lights make the ornament above the door stand out against the wall

The shining windows are done by the texture arn't they?.. maybe you could try placing a weak lamp inside the conservatory, so that the brickwall around it is lit a little..

Sure it's possible, but it wouldn't look that good, because (as far as I know) it's not possible to use alpha-channels on billboards.

The night shot of the windows is so life like it's astonishing, and then i saw the conservatory at night and for probably the second time in my life, i was speechless. (And that does take a lot!) I am constantly amazed by your attention to detail, and the amount of time you must spend tweaking all of the pieces so that they are perfectly aligned! Just the set will be released. You have to build the Mansion on your own. As the most of you may know, the original Mansion is just a facade without the back. I've build it for my park with a backside. So it's up to you to build it as you like.

The lights efects are done in the importer, in the texture options. read a few post above. So you can't achive this efect on the castle.

Thanks, I'm using Cinema4D. In my opinion blender is the programm with the worst and most confused gui I've ever seen in my life. All shortcuts and everything that I've learnd in the past 20 years is obsolate with blender. I'm using a Mac for my whole life, I'm used to more logic and comfort. I don't think I will add straight windows to this set - at least the ain't any straight walls in the set to place them. Maybe I will make some kind of "Magic Kingdom Doors and Windows Set", well let's see. By the way, Snow White is already on my list.

I'm sad to say that, but this set is on hold right now.
Before I continue working on it, I have to figure out how to create shared textures ...

The set is growing very large because of the textures and I think it would be a good idea to use texture-ovl's, but don't know how. Maybe someone can expalin it to me. I've tryed Belgabor's tutorial but it does not work for me, it only confuses me ...

I like the planters also, I'm gonna think about making them without plants. In fact I've made them without plants, but the standard plants didn't fit, because the planter is placed on the side of a tile and the plants are placed full or quarter tile. So I guess i make one with this placement, but then it would not fit with walls ...

This is so cool. Are the posts from Vodhin's Ironwork (Café Kit)?

Yes, you're right, his Café Kit is absolutely versatile and gorgeous, i really love it. I was thinking of making the rails myself, but Vodhin's stuff is great enough, I guess.

You are very welcome my friend, It's the least i can do for someone who spends hours making these pieces. I am still in shock at how wonderful your castle set is, and from what i have seen of this project, it's going to be even better.

Yes, that's Mr. Toad, right. But he's part of the Pet Cemetary, and I'm not going to make this part, because I don't have any pictures of the stones and don't really know where it is located.

Wow Spanky, that's stunning. I love the way you used the dormer to enlarge the roof, very crative.

Eezee, any chance you would tell me the secret of your textures? What programs you use to make them or where you get them? They are fantastic!

There is no secret about the textures, just a lot of work. Basically it doesn't matters which program you use, try something like Photoshop Elements. I use some ressources on the web as basis for my textures, but the truth is, that you never find the textures that you need. So there is no other way than making the textures by your own.

Wow, I'm always impressed with any new picture and it looks like that you have really build the whole Mansion-Building, off what i see in the background.

Have you tried to add the horse from the Pirates of the Caribean set, because of the size?

And BTW: it looks to me, that you need to add a little curved wall to this set for the corner piece of the fence. Or will you leave it like it is? That's against the kind of perfection that I know from you.

Lucky, from a model, that eezee have done for me I know, that he uses bitmaps for his alphas. From my small experiences with alphas in milkshape, this gives better results as png's. You can use png to test and use bmp later in the importer.

Thanks, yes I'm using black/white alpha bmp's. "AlphaMaskLow" is the setting I regulary use. To be true, the alphas are the less work. More work is the texture itself (but in this case the textures are very simple).

Yes, there some additions to the set, which I didn't announced ...
Don't know if png's aren't that good for alphas, didn't try them out, because bmp's work fine for me.

Well, if this thread reaches and keeps 5 stars I have to find a way tho say thank you - an assembeld Mansion would be a nice idea.
Otherwise I will make a tutorial like I did with Cinderella's castle.

Thank You. Yes, I had plans on creating more WDW pieces. But I'm afraight, that Splash Mountain isn't on my list yet. Next to the Mansion will be Sleeping Beauty's Castle from Paris. Than I have to finish some Main Street Parts that I already started (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=555078). After that I will make some Fantasyland Stuff, like Small World, Snow White, Mikey's Philamagic (just the facades). But I will consider makin some Splash Mountain stuff.

eezee- it may sound like i'm stalking you but your work is too good! The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides and your doing a great job representing it! I know Master Gracey (the ghost hoast on the ride) will be the next ghost moving in. I just wanted to say your work is great eezee and take your time! (you can't rush perfection) ----Michevious Mike - (lol)

I honestly thought that i gave this thread 5 stars a while ago, but I couldn't have, it just let me vote again, so you now have 5 stars from me. I cant say anything that hasn't been said before, so i wont. Instead, I will thank you for helping to take this game to a whole new level of realism, For what its worth, this game wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks eezee.

Eezee you never cease to amaze either me nor the rest of the forum, your work is spectacular, I wish this CS set was finished though, because im DYING to get to work on the haunted mansion's frightfully unlivableness, for its 999 permanent guests..haha lol...

Best of luck, and finish it up already!!! haha lawls j/k;)

Hey guys, no need to panic.
This project isn't dead. As some of You guessed I'm only taking a break from RCT3. I will of course finish this set and You will be the first to know. I will also continue to make cs sets.

What? You're taking a vacation during the summer? How could you??? Next you'll tell us you aren't going to be working on custom scenery every waking moment of the day!

Seriously - enjoy the break, it's summer, have some fun! ;)

first I apologize to -eezee- for posting in his thread against a demand and second i was not critizing you, its just I don't know about anyone else but it took me a month just to get familiar with a 3d modeling program and the importer. It takes time to get textures to align and get a good feel from importer settings, and then along come icons that can be a pain unless you have done it several times and good at alignment of little pictures. -eezee- Has proven himself a very artistic cs maker, and if not misstaken has left the forums before for reasons similar. (not 100% sure though). my apologies again.
