yes it works on the US version. i have it installed and it seems to help a bit.

Especially for weapons and drops, also finding some pillars have this effect
Had a multiplayer stint with a mate and ran into some real slow down in
the sewer near cloud desert - got slower and slower till it was like a slide
show - only happened once though, also had this colour effect here a lot
at the tops of walls ie the cutoffs to let me see.
but funky colours persist.

Will do a reload from dvd and retry perhaps tonite

PS my colour may be off im "colour challanged" :)

Enjoying the game appart from that it needs some real pollish interface/ control wise.

Can anyone tell what this addresses, what it fixes, what changes it made? Can we still play our old saved 1.16 games?

Well i reloaded from scratch to do a clean patch to 1.17
and the same problem persists , getting a pink / violet colour on a lot of items
and some objects ala pillars, tops of walls in sewers.

The weapons the guards are holding in cloud city desert show up with this
colour as well.

bugger, will stick with 1.16 i guess

I'm always crashing in the Cloudworks Sewers. I can run around, doing quests without crashing much, but if I enter the sewers, give me 5-10 mins and it's gone. :@

So, the 1.17 patch actually does nothing?


Not that it matters anyway - the Steam version of the game is still stuck at 1.16...

My guess is they meant Not Available, not Not Applicable. ;)

BTW, I think I broke a record yesterday! I was able to play for a whole 15 mins INSIDE the sewer. *cough* Well... It's better than nothing right?

On the other hand, I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my save games so I'll restart a new char and see what happens.

DESIGN
- Fix: dialogue of teleportation after the archimage
- Fix: the palate of Koroziom is not accessible any more if the 5 shades were not killed

MULTIPLAYER
- Posting of the characters in countryside mode in the principal page
- Fix: Several zoning problems
- Fix: Silverfall city sync problem in story mode
- Fix: A customer cannot die any more at the time of a zoning
- Fix: one cannot leave the group in countryside mode any more
- Fix: Under certain rare conditions, a perso in mode "free" could join a network part in mode "story", and vice and poured
- Fix: A character in countryside mode could in certain case being transformed into character free/solo.

gee, you think atari would at least sticky this post as a small sign of solidarity...

as for the sewers i must just be very lucky, they run pretty good for me.
my rig is-

windos XP
core 2 duo @6400
2G of DDR2
geforce 7900GTX
audigy 2 sound

i mean the game still by far does not run as well as it should even on this PC but i have a feeling this is the last patch we will see...

I don't see any engine fixes in that list, so i'd say multiplayer is still running like crap.

Update:

Well, I've restarted a new char and Lo and Behold, I was able to play for hours without a hitch. Then, it crashed on me. I got to level 15 so I'm not in Cloudworks yet. I know I could get there but I'm taking the opportunity to spend points in a better way than last time.

Anyway, I'll post an update when I get some news to report.

There's a new version of Ageia's PhyX drivers.

I've updated but haven't had the time to check if it did anything.

Well I still don't see any evidence that the 1.17 patch has been released for the English version of the game yet. As such, I certainly won't be worrying about getting yet. Once I've seen an official indication that the English language 1.17 patch is out, then I'll be kicking up a storm if it doesn't make it to Steam. Atari/Monte Cristo, take note. Steam users paid for the game just like the retail and Atari DD people, so you'd better start supplying better after sales service for us. Because right now, being told by Steam support to contact Atari support and then being told by Atari support to contact Steam support is not what I call adequate.

Yes they did. For the US release. Officially from Atari.
But they still didn't fix the bug where you loose your right handed item if you are currently wearing a sword and shield and equip a 2handed weapon by 2x-clicking on it. :mad:

I am enjoying the game but its still buggy and unpolished in my opinion

I finally fixed the textures problem 1.17 created.
- still find problems in multiplayer - ie zone transation for the other player
does the occasional odd thing like he bounces
- still get random teleport to the wrong location hime and me.
- slowdowns - on various lan session we experienced extreme slowdowns
in the game it would crawl affecting me and client. My leaving the area and coming back to the area ussually fixed that .
- client crashed a couple of times
- client says he lost items after various deaths. ( would not suprise me)
- when we got to return to silverfall after cloudworks, client could not
jump there , it did not show on his map only mine - duhh, so we had to walk to the passage into silverfall.
( why no teleport spell by the way ??? so we can return from whence we
teleport )

We where playing campaign coop

it seems there's some multiplayer issues.

and darnit why cant i make notes on the bloody map i remember years old
games which allowed this

Did the devs really play this game, or was it another hey look at the date
its time to fire it out the door approach.

It has lots of potential, just needs polishing

Some updates:

First, the Ageia's new drivers didn't do squat. You can always download the new version but don't imagine it'll fix your problems. If it does, well, lucky you! :D

Redid the main campaign with new character but with the same result. The game crashed in the sewer. ETA for crashing once in the sewer was from 10 secs to 5 mins.

The good news is, I think, I solved the problem.
The updates modified some files and my guess is design.pak was changed (among others). Now, that file, after the update, has a slightly different size compared to the one on the CD. So, at that point, having nothing to lose, I decided to copy the CD file to the installation directory. It worked. Now both files are the same size and I was able to go through the sewer.

From my experience, that change didn't bring any other side effect. So, as a suggestion to anyone still experiencing problems, check the content of the CD. Make sure the file sizes are the same as those on the HD. If you find some that are different, make a backup of said file (by renaming it to something like: installed.<rest of file name>.<ext> and then copy the CD file.

Hopefully that will help someone.

Aside from that, I would very much like to see a dev or Atari respond to any/all issues talked about here in these forums. It's quite pathetic as it is right now.

I feel this game will become another Gothic for me. Good game, lots of potential but mediocre support, bad coding, awful controls...:weird:

i have a 1.15 patch. the 1.17 patch from the silverfall main website doesn't patch my version. how can i solve this? i want to play online

I am very confused. I have just installed Silverfall, but do not have a patch, I installed Silverfall on my PC using a DVD. Does anyone have the patch for that. I tried playing the game with no patch and the game have way too many glitches. Any help would be appreciated.
