I was just wondering who else will be there on opening day. If you are what entrance are you using? not sure which to use, Magnum's is the closest, but all the excitement is at the front gate. Only 5 days till Maverick!

I'll be there on opening day, entering thru the beach gate, and heading for Millennium Force.
This might be a good topic to use to arrange a meeting of forum members. My suggestion would be that we meet at the Magnum entrance(the actual queue line entrance, not the park entrance) around 5PM. From there we could do a lap on Magnum, and perhaps a ride on Paddlewheel Excursions...
I know Harpo, SnooSnoo, Hyde244, and rollerfreak83 will all be around. C'mon guys, chime in. Does this sound like a plan? Any other suggestions?

I'll do whatever! I'll be there bright and early to be one of the first 72 on Mavvy.. so be jealous. :)
As for meeting up.. love to! I'll be there with a few CoasterForce members and i'm sure we could have a merging of the forums for a quick lap on Maggy.

I plan on going through the Soak City (a.k.a. Magnum, a.k.a Challenge Park) entrance in an effort to get to Maverick early. My wife and I are staying at the Hotel Breakers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, so going through either the Soak City entrance or the Breakers entrance is a natural choice. Since we'll want to get on Maverick first thing on Saturday, I'd say Soak City entrance is highly probable for that morning.
If it were just me, I would say absolutely, I'll meet you at the Soak City entrance at 5. However, since my wife will also be there, I can't really say what will happen. What I can say is that I'll TRY to be at the Soak City entrance at 5.
Glad to hear you're still in the running, SnooSnoo. Unfortunately, $200 minimum bid is outside of the range of what my wife and I can afford right now -- I was capping it at about $150 for each of us. My wife did say that she'd wait if I wanted to take the full $300 and bid for just myself, but I'd rather have my first Maverick ride be with my wife next to me. (I did a solo ride on Skyhawk last year, but my wife won't do swinging rides, so it was a different situation. She also won't do spin-n-go-puke rides, so I'm also on my own for things like maXair. She will do most roller coasters, however, so I really want to ride Maverick with her.)

^I understand your feeling. I'm already above the $200 mark personally, and its much more then I orginally wanted, but i've followed this thing from before WWL was demolished and I NEED to be on one of those trains. :)
But, i'm sure your wife wouldn't mind stopping by to meet us for like 5 minutes right? You know us coaster enthusiasts are friendly.

Oh, I have no doubt she'd be glad to meet everyone. It's more a matter of how the day's going, leading to if she's feeling a need to take a rest or is feeling eager to keep on riding. When I'm at an amusement park, I have nearly endless energy, and sometimes even go the whole day before I realize that I've forgotten to eat anything. In that respect, Kim's a bit more sane than I am! :D While riding the coasters really gets me charged up and increases my energy level, it doesn't have quite the same impact on Kim. She enjoys most of the coasters, but doesn't get the same boost out of them as I do.
So, based upon past experiences, I think there's a pretty good chance we'll be there at 5, but it will depend upon how the day is going. It's also possible that Kim will decide to go back to the Breakers for a short nap, with just me showing up at 5. Hopefully the day will be gowing great at we'll both be there at 5. (I tend to feel guilty leaving Kim to take a rest, even though she says I should go on and enjoy myself, so that's my personal struggle!)

By the way, I was referring to the actual entrance to Magnum XL-200 as the meeting point. Since we'll all presumably be in the park already, that seems to make sense. I edited my original post... Hope to see some of ya there...

Just saw some bad news on the PR Newswire.
Maverick's opening is going to be delayed until early June in order to make modifications to the track. Apparently, they're going to replace 3 sections of steel track following the launch tunnel.
I'm still going for opening weekend, but the lack of Maverick is a huge disappointment. I was really looking forward to getting on that coaster this weekend.

What! They can't do that! Just my luck, my first opening day and the reason i'm going has been delayed. Man that really grinds my gears.
By the way Harpo, could you give us a link to the site you heard this devastating info? Because if it is true then i probably won't go...
EDIT: It's True, i just saw the announcement on the parks website. i guess i won't be going till early june, as for Maverick was the main reason for going.

Yeah.. same for me. Now, with the bidding delayed a whole MONTH, the prices are just going to keep going up. Damn.
I'm still going Opening Day though. I need a coaster fix.

I'm considering buying a season pass ... the day that Maverick opens (please don't let it be on June 9th, I have the ACT) then I'll be there.

I still plan on going despite Maverick being closed. I can be at the Magnum entrance at 5 PM. I really look forward to meeting new people and seeing Harpo and his wife again.

I wish I could go and see Harpo and Roller again, but I am busy with school and money is tight. Full time student and driving 70 miles round trip 5 days a week if I only go to school hurts the already deflated wallet when gas is over $3 a gallon. Take pictures for me please. I wonder if Maverick will have 12 hour lines like Top Thrill did opening day....when it finally opens.

I need the coaster fix, too. My stress levels are through the roof, and, as odd as it may seem, riding roller coasters is the only thing that truly relaxes me.
SnooSnoo, look at the bright side... some of the people putting in bids might not be able to go on the new opening date, so those bids might get withdrawn, which would actually lower the price! Of course, there's no way to know for sure what will happen, but it is a possibility. Unfortunately, the big loser for the delay could be the Firelands chapter of the American Red Cross, since they won't get the donations until the inaugural ride happens.
Paste, I fully intend to take pictures, and hope to quickly find the time to update my Cedar Point Virtual Tour with those pictures. Good luck with classes!

Yes... my attending is definite. Me and Hyde244 plan on getting there on the bright and getting the first ride on some rollercoaster.. we just don't know yet.. maybe Magnum. :)
But, we shall both be there at 5!

Almost there. 24 hours from now, I'll be at Hotel Breakers relaxing in the hot tub, or maybe playing some Challenge Golf at Challenge Park. Well, I'm outta here. Hope to see ya guys at Maggie...

Well, I've actually given the instructions that, when I'm about to croak, I want to be strapped into the front right seat on Raptor for one final ride. But, I really like Magnum, too!
Right now, I'd say it looks pretty good for meeting up at 5 on Saturday. Hope to see you then!

Good man. If anyone will be getting to the gates early, I'll be at the Magnum entrance. Look for a black guy in a black wife-beater and Ohio State hat, that would be me!! :)

Don't know what I'll be wearing, but, when riding Raptor, I look something like this:

The wife and I together, when riding the London Eye after an all-night flight , look something like this (just moments before I proposed to her):

Well The park just closed, so for the people who went, did anyone attempt to wait in line for Maverick?

Why would they? The opening day for it was delayed, as has been mentioned several times in this and many other threads.

i meant as in protesters. thats definatly what i would do if i wasn't locked in my room...

Why waste your time protesting, when you can be riding 15 other coasters. I feel bad for the people who were going to ride Maverick this weekend, but s*** happens. Heck, El Toro didn't open till the middle of June last year ...and Griffon didn't open at the start of BGE season this year.

^I understand that there are 16 other coasters, but i have ridden them each so many times that it is getting old... fast. So thats why i was so excited for Maverick, it was a breath of fresh air, somthing new. Thats why im mad:mad: nothing against cp, just me bein mad.
I just wondered if any crazy people tryed to wait in line, because last time i went millenium was closed and a few people attempted to get on the ride. They had to call security and everything. funny stuff.

...so you still ride Jr. Gemini. I know you're still young, but come on now.;)
...and for the record, I wasn't counting that coaster in my post.:p
