David Ellis

I am confused...which original park are you referring to?
Cedar Point opened 64 years before Knotts (1870 compared to 1934).

I'm about 2.5 hours away, not quite sure how many miles. It's quicker if I drive 80 mph... though I forgot the Ohio turnpike is only 65 mph speed limit. My bad. You should see some other Michigan drivers... they go 90+ down that thing!
I go to CP usually once a year ... staying for 3 days.
This year, we aren't doing that. I can drive alright now, so my brother and I are just kind of randomly going when we feel like it over summer.

189 miles. Took three hours to get home tonite. That includes a pass through the drive-thru at Taco Bell, and eating tacos while driving the Turnpike. :)

When I used to work there. I would say Two Miles, because that's how long the bridge was.
You still couldn't walk it. They had a yellow bus that was blue to take you.
If you got caught walking on it. You was fired.
But now I'm back in Detroit so...

Make up your mind, is it yellow or blue!

Well here in Detroit. Our school bus is called the Yellow bus or the cheese.
It was those type of buses, but Blue.

Well, i was saying im close to the original park.:)
Valley Fair! and Cedar Point are the only "original" parks. Knotts was purchased sometime in the 90's.
I'm 1 hour from the Point and give or take 30 mins from Geauga Lake.

I am also about 2 hours away from The Po!nt. I usually take I-96 to I-275 to I-75 to I-280 to I-80/1-90 (Ohio Turnpike) to US-250. I also have some alternative routes. When I-280 was closed due to the cable-stayed bridge construction project, I took I-75 straight to the Turnpike. Like IEATPASTE001, I sometimes will also take Ohio 2 to 4 or US-250.
When I went The Po!nt on opening day, I took the Turnpike on the way there. On the drive back, I unintentionally took Ohio 4 to Ohio 2 because I turned right at the first light after the causeway.

I'm about a 5 minute drive from the Causeway, then, well... traffic decides how much longer it'll take to get to the parking lot. ;)

When I-280 was closed due to the cable-stayed bridge construction project, I took I-75 straight to the Turnpike.
That's when I had fun, I popped up Google Earth and mapped a route through Toledo. I had a route that beat the Ohio detour by 15 minutes.

My route is usually I-75 to The Freeway of Perpetual Construction (i-280) to the Turnpike, to 4 to 2 to 250. It's a bit faster to get off at 4 rather than going all the way to 250 on the Turnpike, and it reduces the amount of money paid to Ohio.
Naturally, that money could be reduced to zero by taking 2, but, during the 2 lane portions of 2, I invariably get stuck behind some vehicle going 25 miles per hour, with endless traffic coming the other way blocking any chances of passing!
Just a note about why I call I-280 the Freeway of Perpetual Construction. This year marked my 38th consecutive year of visiting Cedar Point. During that time, the number of years where there wasn't construction on I-280: 0. You'd think the road could have had at least 1 out of 38 years where there wasn't construction, but, no, it's been under construction every single year. If the road were 500 miles long, I could understand it. But, it's less than 15 miles from I-75 to I-80 on I-280, so I just don't get it.

I just take the benevolent Ohio Turnpike from Youngstown to Sandusky, then 250 North.
Depending on how bad I want to get to CP, my time can vary from 1 hour to almost 2... hahah
Darth Gilbert
05-18-2007, 07:59 PM
I take 127 south to I-94, east to 23, south to the Turnpike, east to 4, then I take 4 into Sandusky and follow the signs. :) I guess taking 2 across to 250 may be faster, but there seem to be a million traffic lights, not to mention, cars on 250, so I prefer to just follow 4 into town.

Basically I take I-69 to the turnpike, then turnpike to Sandusky and Exit 118, follow the signs to CP. Approximately 2.5 hours (depending on how fast I drive on the turnpike, I try to go about 80 mph but I don't want to get pulled over).
