I think you posted this is the wrong forum; it should under Amusement Industry Discussion.

is there even a board under that? Try general discussion
I would say the right place for this thread would be General Discussion.

Walt Disney World will always be the king of Disney parks. They have room to grow and they already have A LOT! It's such an awesome place!! I've been to Disneyland and it just doesn't compare to Disney World. *My opinion*

Ya seeing as they have 4 good parks and a bunch of hotels the WDW resort has gotta be number one.
I think they still have extra land for expansion as well.
kc_rc_fan
05-15-2007, 11:05 PM
They have a ton of land left! When I was there we always took a shuttle bus from our hotel to the park and our bus driver said they had only 39% (or something like that) of their land!! And that they fenced off area that they were going to use for future expansion. May not be true but that's what I heard.

Disney always puts rumors out there. (I'm really mad about the Branson one). I'm not going to believe there's a new park until they come out and say it or I see it!

I think everywhere at least once was meant to get a disney park, yeah write. I hate rumours of planned parks, the most realistic one at the moment is a second in china or one for india. But I don't want to see a third resort in asia, look how crappy Disneyland Hong Kong, do we really want another one of them.
Never heard the Branson rumour.

The Branson rumor has been there since the early nineties. I wish they would come out and say something.

Is it good I have never been there, I might if Calafornia adventure sorts the park out, and all the rumours I have heard for the park is fantastic, can't wait.

DLR is the original resort. WDW is the king of all the resorts. Hong Kong is the newest, so it might take longer than ten years to get it's popularity up. In my opinion, it would be either WDW or Disneyland Paris (if DLRP manages to pay off its current 14 billion dollar debt in time.)

How in the world are they in the hole so much?! It's probably something really obvious.... (I really only pay attention to Walt Disney World news).

Well, Disneyland Paris' Magic Kingdom is the biggest, most expensive and most elaborate version to date and they expected record numbers of visitors. However, this never came to be, mainly due to bad press from the French. But the main problem was that when it first opened, Eisner made them build far too many hotels, resulting in a large debt from the beginning. The resort's financial state improved over the years (although they were still in debt), but by a contractual obligation with the French government they had to open a new park by 2002. Lacking the budget to build anything on such a grand scale as the neighbouring park, the lacklustre Walt Disney Studios came to be. This was a financial disaster and 'Euro Disney' are still recovering from this mistake.
But back on topic, Tokyo Disney is clearly the best resort at the moment and I think it will continue to be so in the future. We'll have to see about the others...

Yeah but tokyo disney sea have not got much room to expand. So how will it be the best resort in ten years if they have no room to build anything.

How can you people even assume that Walt Disney World Resort is not the best Disney resort? It brings in the most money, most visitors, it has 6 parks, TONS of hotels, shopping complex, sports complex, AND it's got a lot more land to build on.

It's really a case of quality over quantity

Very true. The quality of that park has decreased due to the amount of visitors they've had...and Disney usually jumps on this problem immediately but they've failed to do an elaborate job to make the park better (I'm mostly talking about the magic kingdom). I think that the best park there is the animal kingdom, well kept, entertaining, can't beat it atm.

Whenever I was there I thought the park was very well kept. It was clean, enjoyable, and I had a great time. Do you think the park is dirty with trash laying around or what do you exactly mean by 'well kept'?

I have never been to the animal kingdom, dont it lack attractions for the amount of space there.

I say that it is neck and neck with MGM for the best park at WDW with it's Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Spinning Wild Mouse (I forgot its exact name). It also has so much space to expand.
It will obviously be WDW since they have room for many more parks as the other parks are bordering the street corners (Look at DCA, Cali Screamin is so close to the street.
WDW will have 5 maybe 6 parks and another new waterpark or entertainment complex in the next 10 years to strike back at Universal's Harry Potter Expansion. It's Disney, we know they will strike back.

Ye but what if it gets too much, theres no way that if six parks and three water parks plus another entertainment complex would be built, you would not be able to visit them all in one visit.

^^That's exactly what Disney wants. They want people to keep coming back and they want you to stay longer which of course means spending more money which will give them more profit.

It's Disneyland Resort. With the 2 Billion Dollar revamp that is proposed... Nothing like that has ever been proposed for any other park in the US. DCA has The Wonderful World of Color, Toy Story Midway Mania, Carland (including Test Track style ride), a brand new Disneyland Hotel the DCA Placemaking which starts in January. And another 100M+ E-ticket proposed for Tommorowland to open 2011 themed to Wall-E. AND The 3rd gate would be announced in that 10 year span. It's hands down the Disneyland Resort. Not even TDL or WDW or DLRP or HK have a plan bigger than this. ITS HUGE.

The key word is proposed. Each Disney park most likely has something proposed. There have been rumors of a 6th park at WDW. And where do you get all your information?? I'm just curious cause I want to look it up.

The 6th park is just a rumor and has been a rumor sence disney opened a park at every resort (except WDW) in 2001.
The stuff I said for DLR is actually being planned and constructed. Nothing like that is happening for any other disney park. So you can only imagine that Disney has DLR on their mind for the next decade the most. I also know people who work at the resort at TDA and am fairly active in the disney communities. I probably know more than anybody else of the future of any disney resort right now.

Disneyland got a pretty big facelift from the 50th. DCA really is the focus of all disney owned parks right now because they are currently finishing up on WDS's placemaking projects. DCA has HUGE things coming the next 10 years. And its all starting with Paradise Pier which is currently adding its first major attraction. Then come this january they are going to completely close up the pier (the midway games) and retheme them to a Victorian era midway to match the theme of the currently "under contruction" Toy Story Midway Mania ride. And they are draining the lake in January also for a few months to begin installation of the The Wonderful World of Color show which is going to be HUGE!!!! Estimated 50+ Million Dollar show (Double the cost of Fantasmic when that opened). Then starting construction in mid-late 08 (that rhymed, they are constructing "Carland" which is going to be a huge tribute land themed to "Route 66" that pays tribute to the automobile industry, and with that comes at least 3 D-ticket attraction, and an E-ticket which is going to use the same exact ride system as Test Track at Epcot. That will be cool to see. Then they are rebuilding the Disneyland Hotel, which is currently a really guarded project, I would kill to see the concept art because I heard it was AMAZING! But yea... If you have any questions about anything Disney just PM me and ill be happy to answer.

Yea, there's also a rumor going around that they might revive the WestCOT or Port Disney ideas for a 3rd gate.
Actually, I made an idea for a 3rd gate a long time ago, one that would include the revival of the Port Disney concept.

Disney's California Adventure is the main focus because it is doing so poorly. Paradise Pier is not adding its first major attraction, because it already has one: California Screamin'. Whether they add to it or not is up to speculation, but it most likely will be getting more major attractions. As for the Victorian refurbishment you mentioned, that has nothing to do with Toy Story Mania's theme. Toy Story Mania is an attraction being built at the Disney/MGM Studios where Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Play It! used to be held.
Disneyland park does not require much of an upgrade right now. They're going to try and stabilize DCA before even thinking about any major changes.
You all have your rumors mixed up when it comes to the "sixth park" you stated. There are not even five theme parks at Walt Disney World. There are four theme parks, two water parks, and the Downtown Disney area. The only rumor that is still legitimate regarding expansion is the fifth Disney villains theme park, which was said to have featured a focus on roller coasters.
This park was going to go in effect. In fact, blueprints and concept art still floats on the internet today. But, the plans were scrapped after the 9/11 attacks. Plans for the park are on hold, and perhaps completely out of the question.
So many people falsely believe that something huge must be done in response to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening at Universal Studios. In reality, Potter has more beneficial factors to Walt Disney World than hindering ones. When tourists come to Florida, most of the time they do not visit just one park alone. They go and see all that there is to experience in Orlando, and don't limit themselves to just one location.
I have no doubts TWWOHP will be successful, and I'm sure it will be quite an enhancement. However, it is just a new land being added to Islands of Adventure. It may consider itself a seperate park, but it's just utilizing an extra patch of land that UOR possesses. As I said before, I have no doubts that it will be quite a change, but it's just not as big as many people think.

Toy Story Midway Mania is Paradise Pier's first major ADDITION! Screamin' was there when the park opened. And the victorian theme is relevant to the ride. How do I know that? I've seen the games and they are all victorian themed with the white fences and such. Even the ride at MGM studios games are going to be themed to a victorian era with a different exterior building. The ride was designed for Paradise Piers new victorian era theme. They are not making any changed in the theme of the ride for MGM.

In terms of Disneyland Paris being in second. There are no plans for Disneyland Park in the future because of HUGE finanical problems the park is undergoing. The big changes you will see are at DLRP and thats is already half way done with the opening of Toon Studios, the other half is the opening of TOT and the Hollywood BLV section of the park leading to TOT. And they are just recreating DCA's HPB's buildings for Hollywood BLV at WDS.
