I have purchased (U.S. Ver) this game but not opened it.
On http://www.glop.org/starforce/list.php it does list ArmA: Armed Assault (not in UK) which I am assuming is the same game and it does contain starforce drivers. Also if the game itself doesnt contain Starforce Drivers do the patches that are currently out to update this game contain Starforce Drivers? I have had to many problems and honestly dont support anyone that uses Starforce at all.

Any info would be great

Atari currently uses SecuRom (Sony) on their games.
It can still be considered a rootkit, and has plenty of its own problems, but its not Starforce; just search these Atari forums.

Games can go through several different pressings for release around the world. One publisher may use a certain type of copy protection, while another publisher of the same game will use a different copy protection.

But this title wasnt created by atari. This game clearly does contain starforce from the original maker. Has Atari removed Starforce for this US Release?

how does it "clearly contain starforce" if you have to ask?

BIS was the developer for ArmA.
Atari is the publisher.

The publisher decides what copy protection is used.

Anyone else have an answer? I am not looking for a debate, I am looking for facts

Well I know for the Digital version of the game we use SecuRom PA though I am not sure what was used on the retail version. I do not think it was starforce though... I'll see what I can find out though no promises...

I haven't found any starforce drivers on my system, so I don't think it does. I was wondering there for a while though.

Just follow ithe instruction here and see for yourself:

http://www.glop.org/starforce/detect.php

OK so I have talked with our engineering team and I can confirm that ArmA: Combat Operations does not use Starforce in the as released from Atari. This is true for both retail and digital download.

Matt

If you are currently spending $0 on customer support, how would you be saving money by outsourcing it?:p
