This really just follows CoasterDude5's idea on his own board, but it was a good enough idea that I had to do it myself. My favorite has to be This one.

Now for those of you I do admit I didn't see that board for real parks so it do believe it should be moved(if I had the power), but for some of you.

Can people not read?! Soakedmaster already made a thread about this so when Skipper see's this he will close it due to the fact that there is already a thread for Rct 3 Best pics.

This thread has nothing to do with RCT3 in fact I haven't seen any threads in the amusment park industries that showed a thread exactly like this. Rmember everyone this is your FAVORITE roller coaster. Not you first or last your FAVORITE!

Also I got a question from azza about my post (I think). It's called SuperMan the Escape and it's from Six Flags Magic Mountain.

I remember that day being on Medusa and going up the chain lift and I looked over at El Toro and man that lift was going fast! I still say Medusa is the 3rd best coaster in the park! Nitro=1 Kingda Ka=2 and Medusa=3 I dont know about El Toro though since I havent ridin it.

Well I guess I meant basic layouts.

They basically all have a giant loop right after the drop. Usually followed by a Dive loop. Then they will usually have the Zero-G roll. Sometimes followed by the Cobra Roll. Then most of the time they have two interlocking corkscrews.

Sure you have odd-balls like Hydra: The Revenge who start off with a "JoJo-roll". But the basic designs are not that different in their inversion order.

Don't all coasters?
Usually followed by a Dive loop. Then they will usually have the Zero-G roll.
Like I said, only 4 coasters do. Sometimes followed by the Cobra Roll. Then most of the time they have two interlocking corkscrews.
5 of them have cobra rolls, 5 of them have interlocking corkscrews. They are both very common elements in all B&M coasters.

Sure you have odd-balls like Hydra: The Revenge who start off with a "JoJo-roll". But the basic designs are not that different in their inversion order.
Actually, Hydra doesn't have a loop. It goes "jo-jo roll, inclined dive loop, zero-g roll, corkscrew, cobra roll, then flat spin."

I don't know why you seem to think all of this, the coasters are quite varied.

dementedbear
05-25-2007, 11:53 AM
Yea, every year...I cant remember how many times I've been on it! Went on Wednesday and took some photos on ride from the front seat. That last corkscrew is great, it's so ridiculously close to the scenery. I love the downward helix after the first corkscrew, there's some good Gs on that.

nickdaegg
05-25-2007, 12:19 PM
Yeah, I think G-force wise, the helix is the most intense bit. It's quite scary when you see how close the track looks to the stony crevice it's in next to the brake run. Just a little bit of track poking out of the ground.

. Style .
05-25-2007, 12:38 PM
Well, you are right NGS, but my personal opinion is that Intamin makes the most 'innovative' tracks, while B&M makes the best tracks (smoothness, comfortable trains) and so on. I'm not trying to bash B&M for making unoriginal tracks, but they all do look a bit like the same, but in time it gets like signature for B&M, like the B&M drop. (twisted 90 degree turn drop)

By the way, does anyone know the story behind the B&M drop?

nickdaegg
05-25-2007, 12:44 PM
Was that a 'ask me' question or a 'I don't know so I'm asking you' question?

dementedbear
05-25-2007, 04:38 PM
B&M's aren't unoriginal, it's just that there are aren't enough designers like John Wardley who are prepared to do something ingenious with the format.

nemisis was built in 1993 and opened in 94. It is also my favorite. But will probably change to Dragon Khan as I am going to port aventura next week! Can't wait.

Trust me, Dragon Khan's not a patch on Nemmy, and is an example of the 'thoughtless' coaster. Stampida at PA is much better than DK I think.

Dormouse
05-25-2007, 04:51 PM
By the way, does anyone know the story behind the B&M drop?
I don't know what story you are referring to, but I do know that they all have small dips before the big drop so that there is less tension on the chain.

Nemesis looks like a really fun coaster... I love the theming on it.
I would love to go to Alton Towers if I ever got the chance.
Though I always wondered why they don't have a wooden coaster?

-NGS-
05-25-2007, 05:02 PM
I think it's because woodies are too loud, and AT has gotten into trouble before concerning the noise levels of the park. Someone can feel free to correct me on this, I just remember hearing some stories...

I would love to go to Alton Towers if I ever got the chance.
Though I always wondered why they don't have a wooden coaster?

They've got one in the works but it's much smaller than some plans they had a couple of years ago. The wanted to build a massive woodie between Ugland and Forbidden Valley; there's a huge valley where the gardens are so they could have built 200 foot drops but still be below the treeline, but unfortunately they didn't get permission. It would have been amazing though and they wouldn't have spoiled the gardens or had to remove many trees.

Mmhmm, they need to keep the noise at neighbors to under 40 Decibels. Nasty, huh? And the top of many rides are painted green/black to blend in with trees.

And apparantly, DB, Wardley is involved with AT in some way.

It was an "I ask you because I don't know the answer".

nickdaegg

Do you mean small drop-big drop, or are you talking about the cornering? If it is corners, then it's all to do with the layout, I guess.

05-26-2007, 11:49 AM
^^ That's a very typical B&M drop, which I why I like the fact that all of AT's B&Ms don't have them.

10 loops? I don't think so. 10 inversions, perhaps? Great.

I hate it when people call every inversion a "loop".

Dormouse
05-30-2007, 04:43 PM
Well all inversions are basically loops. A barrel roll is a really stretched out loop. A corkscrew is a loop that is semi-stretched. Etc.

Though you are right, the formal name is inversion.

-NGS-

Mhm, I know what you mean. It is kinda cool to visualize it in my head sometimes.

Nethero
05-30-2007, 08:19 PM
10 inversions doesn't sound as amazing as it might have, but 10 loops might be huge for a ride. For there to be enough speed to complete 10 loops would end up killing everyone of force. Like when you jump up really unsuddenly and fast enough it'll make your insides burst.

~LoveTulie
05-30-2007, 08:40 PM

05-31-2007, 06:58 PM
Naturally, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. My opinion, however, was that Colossus was rather dull. I found those rolls to be remarkably repetitive. I would definitely have preferred 10 different inversions, rather than lots of repetition. But, that's just my opinion.

Also, have anyone seen the design for a Intamin 12 inversion coaster? It was in First Drop #75 and it goes: Lift hill OR Hydralic Launch, 180 turn, Norwegian Loop, Bunny Hop, Boomerang, Loop, Two Corkscrews, Bunny Hop, Two Corkscrews, Bunny Hop, Two In-line Twist, 180 turn, In-line Twist.

Morning rides (I'm talking before the general public gets in line) give you a view away from the sun. And yeah, that's a horrible design flaw.

Dragon Khan was a huge let down. No where near as good as nemesis. On paper it should be better, it has twice the amount of inversions as nemesis.
The only good part was the weightlesness of the first drop, then lots of positive G as you went into the first loop, and then weightlesness again at the top of the loop. I hit my head a bit in the interlocking corkscrews and zero-g rolls.

Nemesis has that special atmosphere about it. The music, the roar of the cars flying through the helix and the rivers of blood. Still my favorite coaster and will be for a while.

I hope Furious Baco will be good (The new launched coaster at Port Aventura). I thinkit has something like an 80mph launch and will be the fastest coaster in Europe. It will also have a heartline roll.

I don't think so. At least it doesn't look like it have that much airtime as The Voyage does.

This seem to have been revived and kicking. Also the only one That's been active for a while. Though I already have said Super Man The escape was my favorite My second favorite would be Boomerang (SFDK)
