Since it seems to be a trend.. I'll throw my two cents worth on this game:
To start off, I should let it be known I went in to this game with no real expectations. I saw it in Wal Mart and was all "Oooh! Steampunk game!" and bought it.

My biggest complaint is, by far, the controls. They're kinda wonky, but I found the easiest way to deal with them was to just zoom all the way out. Then it works like Diablo 2 and it's many clones. But the problem I have with the controls is something that.. no one else has mentioned: 0 customization. At very least I should be able to set what I want my 4th and 5th mouse buttons to do.

The lack of a Z axis annoys me too. But that could be because I've been spoiled to City of Heroes.

Beyond this, I've read reviews proclaiming how hard the game is.
And I'm wondering what Silverfall they were playing. My melee characters tend to die a bit, sure. But the current character I'm working on, has gotten to level 16 I think now, died maybe twice. (Gun using necromancer.) Aside from the stray character deaths, I find the game remarkably easy once I got use to the control system.

I find the racial options to be slightly lacking, but the fact that they offer multiple races at all is a plus for a hack and slash RPG. And I love the skill-based classless system. Though the fact that you cannot put a skill higher that the skills it requires is a rather vexing idea.

As much as I love the Steampunk setting, and the lack of good vs. evil. I'm not impressed with their implementation of tech vs. nature. It comes across far too often of tech being evil. The tech/nature skills are also.. .. meh. They're acceptable.

Graphics are decent enough, especially once you get rid of the black outlining. I'm not sure what's up with some of ya'll having horrid issue with the game not wanting to work on your PCs. I run an Athalon 64 3200+, 3072 megs RAM, and an ATI Radeon X1300 PCI-E with 256 megs RAM. Game doesn't even slow down on me at all. And I tend to multi task.

Closing thoughts:
It's an entertaining game, with a lot of potential. But it's nowhere near as good as Arcanum.

It should have a reasonable replay value, with the thousands of pote.ntial options for your characters progression.

Overall, I'd probably give it a 6 out of 10.
