Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Character Previews

Over the next couple days we will be showcasing some of the new characters that are set to be included in BT3. Today we have a little teaser for Nail:

Namekian soldier and also the body guard of Guru at planet Namek.

In the DBZ original story, he fought against Frieza to give some time to summon Porunga. However he was seriously injured in the fight with Frieza.
Later on, he fuses with Piccolo who brought back by the wishes of Porunga.

In the beginning, Dende was surprised to see both Piccolo & Nail since they resemble each other.

Vegeta's father and also the one who is sitting on the top of Planet Vegeta.

He is more like Vegeta, full of pride and dignity with a rough natured personality. He once killed his colleague for not conquering the planet by his suggested date. This can prove that he is Vegeta's father.

He hated Frieza who uses Saiyans as his slave and was planning to take his palce by defeating Frieza. However when he was in action, he was discovered by Frieza and killed in the battle.

Later on, Planet Vegeta was destroyed by Frieza. As a result of this destruction, most of the Saiyans are killed except for some survivors.

And today, as some of you rightly predicted, we have King Cold:

He is the father of Frieza & Cooler belonging to the most powerful tribe in the whole universe.

In the original story, he came to the earth with Mecha-Frieza and the other belongings to conquer the earth. However most of the allies are killed when faced with the overwhelming power of Trunks. By seeing allies including Mecha-Frieza killed just in front of him, he planned to attack Trunks with his sword but unfortunately countered and was defeated with energy blow.

Officially he is said to be more powerful than Frieza and Cooler but since he is killed in spot, his impression is rather weak.

You should be able to call it while in mid air. You don't start out with the nimbus either you have to call it.

I always wished Nail went to help Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta against the Ginyu Force. Would have loved to see if he would be able to take them on and the difference in the fight. He's most likely going to be one of my favorite characters in BT3.

I was wondering what theory the BT people would follow, and I'm happy they chose this one (even though in the series itself, there's more evidence that Freeza is stronger than Kold, but nothing directly shown either way). I wonder... does this mean he's stronger than those two in this form? Or will they give him a Final Form? Either way, I'm just happy they won't make him a weakling. I've always preferred his looks and laid back attitude to Freeza's. :cool:

I know this is off topic, but it is highly unlikely that Cold was stronger than Freeza. In good Toriyama new vs old generation tradition, all characters would surpass their fathers in power level at a relatively small age (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, etc.)

So, my guess is that Cold's power level wasn't anywhere near Freeza's or Cooler's. I guess that Cold was about as strong as 2nd stage Freeza.

You're correct. I don't know if you remember, but if you watched the episode where Trunks took Frieza and King Cold out, you'll know why he has that sword to begin with. If not, let me refresh your memory: After Trunks sliced Frieza apart and blasted him to oblivion (Burning Slash) he then went on to take out King Cold. King Cold wanted to see Trunks' sword so Trunks let him look at it. King Cold examined the sword and then tried to use it against Trunks claiming he was nothing without it. Eventually Trunks finishes off King Cold and gets his sword back.

If King Cold was stronger than Frieza, then why does Frieza constantly brag that he "is the strongest in the universe"? It could just be because he is pig headed and boasts his own power. But I think King Cold would not be as strong as his sons, it's hard to tell because he was killed so quick and he was only seen in 2nd form.

I would want King Cold to be stronger than Frieza, but weaker than Cooler. I think that if you include the movies, Frieza never knew of Cooler's 5th transformation - it must have been recently attained. Since he said he found a transformation beyond Frieza's, it's assume he's the only one to get there. And because of that, I would assume King Cold couldn't top Cooler at that point.

What makes me think that King Kold was stronger than Frieza is that Frieza obviously wouldn't be above killing his own family if they got in his way, but he willingly obeys his father and even tries to impress him. If King Kold was weaker than Frieza I'm sure he'd be dead long before he appears in the series.

Oh and those of you expecting a brand new character today are fooling yourselves. V-Jump gets to reveal new characters, not the US Atari boards. (Unless there had been a major switch in priority...)

And thats exactly the point! Where did Nail, King Vegeta, and King Cold come from? That is a more unusual selection if you ask me. GT Goku sticks out way to much but I'm not saying it won't be him just doesn't seem likely.

There are a lot of interesting and unique characters in DB/DBZ/DBGT that never faught. At this point, it's where BT3 is because they've already added most of the characters that had semi-important roles and faught.

Piccolo had all of his "forms" merged into one, why not Broly? They would either cut out the blue-haired SSJ and replace it with Goldy or make a separate Movie 10 Broly with gut cuts and gold hair. I would prefer an alt. costume instead.

First of all, they need to work a little bit more on their transformations for each character!. For instance, when playing goku and you're in the process of transfoming, there should not be any cut or movie scene, but rather when transforming they should transform while during game play. (Example: Tenkaichi 2: Goku transforming Kaioken). all transformations should be just like when goku transforms into kaioken but nevertheless in their own unique way. Each character as far as saiyans goes, when transforming, their hair should be "wavy like" from black hair in the process of turning gold and making a big explosion to send their opponents in awe ( Example: Namek Saga, When freeza had slashed goku face with his discs, the way how goku transformed back into his super form; did you see the way how his hair became from black to gold) That's the idea we need to put in the game(( But let's not forget, No Movie scene or any of some sort, it should be like this during game play!!)) but each character should have their own unique way of transforming. Like vegeta when he first transformed and Gohan, and lets not forget the all time greatest Goku.

Ideas, Ideas, Ideas!!!! put some minigames in the story mode and make it feel like we are there playing it and watching it as a saga!. And my final thought, the soundtracks! lets put some motivating combat soundtracks in the game!! and there is nothing wrong inputing DBZ soundtracks as well!! such as the Buu saga, or the history of trunks saga, if not the jeice and burter against goku soundtrack before they were fighting! Ideas Ideas Ideas!!!!

3. Story mode, bring back a little of old school cinemas, put some mini games in story mode and some Dbz soundtracks such ideas above should improve the game by a score! from 8.8 to 9 or 9.3

I agree but as for the mini games. They should also be in game playable. Like when an oozaru grabs you, you should have to spin the analogs to break free. There should also be mini ames like getting to the end of snake way, King Kai's tests, and many others.
The story would be better if it had the B3 flying with the B1 type movies. I only watched the good movies from T2 like the Bardock fight, Frieza killing Krillin, and Vegets vs. Goku. All the others I just skipped. I COMPLETELY agree with you about the transformations. The Buu and #13 transformations were the only ones that drew my attention (Kaioken was only a move or else it would be on that list). All and all, they really could fix this game up so it is the best.

Better story mode including a rpg mode similar to Kingdom hearts or gta where you can go around a full 3d dragonball world,starting all the way with dragonball till gt. Please also keep us better informed, and also could you include the japanese music and the american music in addition to the voices. Because many fans like the japanese music I'm one of them.
