What a fantastic trip, ride.. day.. everything. I loved Maverick, one fantastic ride. Such a breath of fresh air.. beats almost all of CP's rides. Heres a recap of my lovely day.

Get up, 4am... let me tell you, wonderful feeling. Take a shower, do all the num nums, and head out of here after a stop at the bank.

I arrive to the beautiful skyline of CP at 6:30.. perfect timing. I check in, all the good jazz, and head into the Chuck Wagon for breakfast. Took an interesting picture on the way..

^Quite the empty midway.. awesomeness.

It wasn't really a good breakfast, as we got drinks and some donuts... but it was still better then nothing. We eat and mingle for about an hour.. then around 8, we start things rolling.

^The entrance, all snazzed up for the opening ceremonies and fancy stuff.

Then, we got our assignments by how much we bid. I was #44 or something around there. I got to pick my seat.. and I was lucky enough to pick the middle of Steel (Bert) on the right side. Great choice... also took a picture of my seating buddy..

After getting all 6 trains organized, we start going through the queue lines..

^EMPTY!! :)

After a nice little walk, the first two trains load. We had to wait until they got loaded, but I took a nice little snapshot..

After moving into the station, I took two shots of my view in the station..

The Review!!

Maverick is a great ride. As Hyde can attest to, its better then Millennium Force without a doubt, and IMO better then Dragster. Its the ride that CP really needed.. a complete ride. It has airtime, transitions, a special quality needed to make it stand out against the rest. It jumped to the top of my charts immediately, although its tied with #1 with Magnum XL-200. Time will tell if it has that staying power, but the ride is quite unique and I wish CP would have built rides like this years ago.

The first lift is quick, not MF quick, but quick. You slow a bit over the top, but that drop is the best in the park without a doubt. You get thrown out of your seat IMMENSELY, even if the OTSR's are tight (which happened to me on my 3rd re-ride).

Turn after turn, it doesn't let up. Although the intensity isn't as high as I thought it would be, hugging the ground at that speed going through those transitions are something special. The big airtime hill is awesome, great airtime.

The twisted horseshoe roll is best described by Hyde:

Usually I hate hangtime, but these were nice. Like small, fit boobs.. not to big, but just the right size.

The rolls weren't too fast to hurt,or too slow to be boring. The hangtime was nice although the pacing falls off a bit.

The launch.. OoO the launch. Quite the amazing experience. With all the special effects going, it really makes the launch work. It is also quite powerful.. although the whip into the turn kinda sucked a bit.

The S-turn was MUCH better then I thought and you even got a bit of airtime in it! Quite the surprise. Then Stengel, Stengel.. unique turns, got you hanging out your seat.. mighty nice. Then, airtime hill.. great placed one too, then into the brakes. The pacing in the 2nd half defintely doesn't let up, although I feel the 2nd half could have been better if it had more airtime.

I honestly went into this ride thinking it wouldn't be too good, but you will be surprised. It surprised the hell outta me.

Overall: A
Airtime: A-
Headbanging: B+
Pacing: B
Inversions: A-
Launch: A+

---------------------------------------------

After our first ride, we all started chanting "1 more ride!".. and, guess what, we got our wish.. TWO MORE TIMES!! Yes CP fanboys, be jealous.

On my 3rd go around, I was lucky enough.. I think.. to get a launch tunnel rollback, the 1st one ever on a public train! Sitting in the special effects were cool, as you really could see all of what they did in the tunnel. Brilliant for CP. This puts DT.. or hell, ANY theming at CP to shame.

Finally, after our 3rd go, they let us off.. in the pouring rain, to get off. I wasn't able to snag my ORP sadly, but they look amazing. I'll get one next time I go.

But, since I brought my brother along, I decided to join him in line! He was about the 5-6th person in line for the normal public. So, after some time and some more ceremonies, they let us in the queue, much to the agony of Hyde seeing me MUCH farther up in line then he was... haha.

So, 4 rides later, I was much appeased with my day.

After all my rides, I figured out which was the number, in order of public trains, that I rode... Unofficially (if you count individual rides) I was 3rd, 9th, 15th, and 21st. Officially, if you just count each train as one ride, I was the 3rd and 9th trains ever on Maverick!! Yay!

As part of our rides, we got free t-shirts!

http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/2865/mavvyie0.jpg

Although I wish that CP had made the VIP riders more unique from the rest of the GP, it was still a nice touch.

After my last ride, I met up with Hyde and we discussed the ride... then headed over to Skyhawk for a nice walk-on! Brilliance. After the ride, me and Hyde parted ways, then me and my brother decided to ride CCMR, Skyhawk one more time, and Mantis. After that, we were both too tired to do anything more (I only got 3 hours of sleep).. so we parted with CP for another day.

Again, great day, great ride.. definitely worth every penny spent.

Glad to hear it is everything they promised. What is new to me is these special effects, what are they like? Explosives of some kind?

You lucky git. Looks like a great ride. Will you be recreating this? I really wish we had something like this in England...

Heck, it's completely unique in America, so I'm sure it won't be long before another design like this floats across the pond.

I would just like to express disagreement with the "small, fit boobs" being perfect quote, other than that I can't wait to ride this coaster!

hey snoo, i think i did see you riding when i was driving up around the penninsula lol. Honestly, he sumed the whole thing up, couldn't have said it better myself.

By the way i was rider 1,439. and what was shocking is it only had a 2 hour wait! the crew was steaming fast, until they got to a knucklehead who tried to bring a camera on board, or when a fat person attempted to fit in the seat. overall experience though was great. Hands down the best ride i have ever been on... EVER!

SnooSnoo, congratulations on being among the truly "First Riders" on Maverick. We didn't arrive on Saturday until about the time Maggie was crashing, so ultimately we waited until Sunday morning to ride Maverick. We rode it again Monday morning. This is my reaction...

My very first ride, Sunday morning, hands up the whole way. It was actually more intense than I expected. Seems to me that in the early stages, Maverick was being sold as a more family-friendly coaster than MF or TTD. True, I suppose, if you don't like height or speed, but Maverick has intensity to spare. With my hands up, I left the ride with bruises on each shoulder. This may be height related, since my son and his buddy didn't seem to have this problem. Anyway, I enjoyed the ride immensely, especially the airtime on the initial drop and the hill that comes a few seconds later. While traversing the s-curve through the canyon, I was saying to myself "duh, what were the engineers thinking?" There are so many lateral G's in that part of the ride, along with most of the ride, I'm not sure how the heartline roll ever made it into the final design...

OK, day 2, I tell my son I'm not going to hold my arms up all the way this time. Gotta let those bruises heal. Well, the lateral G's at two parts of the track caused me to get the decapitation effect from the OTSRs from each side. I don't really remember exactly which elements of the circuit they were, but I'll probabaly figure it out by the end of the season. :D Anyway, I figured out mid-ride the the most comfortable way to ride was with my hands holding the OTSRs, and helping to brace my head. I'm trying not to complain, as I said, I might be just the perfect height to get guillotined by the restraints, however, I wasn't particularly comfortable either of the two times I rode Mavvie. Through experience, I'll probably learn to get the most out of all of the ride's elements, as I certainly have on favs MF, Magnum, and TTD.

That said, I appreciate being the owner of two First Rider tees, along with a Fleece coat left over from the ill-fated Media Day of May 10. Oh, and Maverick, I'll see ya in 16 days...

haha yes, I be on the video.. nice pointing that out.

Darth.. I also STILL have bruises on my upper arm/bicept/shoulder. But, of course, when you ride it 4 times in half an hour, including 3 strait re-rides.. your arms will probably be hurt more.. haha.

Nice to see you had fun buddy, as did I.

I'm jealous! :D

I was at Kennywood on Friday, and put my phone in a locker at about 3 in order to go on the water rides. At 5:30, I retrieved the phone, and got a message that, if I could respond by 5, my bid was high enough to be one of the first riders on Maverick for Saturday. D'Oh!

Oh well. I had a great time at Kennywood on Friday, Dorney Park on Saturday, Great Adventure on Sunday, and Knoebels on Monday. On my way back to Detroit, I stopped in at Cedar Point, getting to Frontiertown at about 7:30 -- just in time to see a bunch of riders stuck on Maverick. So, I had dinner at Chick-fil-a, after which I saw that the riders had been walked off the ride, and the queues were being emptied. Double D'Oh! I waited for a little bit, then rode Mean Streak, where I wound up having a bunch of muffleheads as my dessert. At about 9:15, I gave up on Maverick, and headed home since I still had a 2.5 hour drive ahead of me, and an expected long day at work Tuesday (a.k.a. today, which has been very busy thus far, but I currently have a couple of minutes to breathe!)

I was there earlier this week and it is the best ride at the park, and my new #1 steel coaster

Even though I didn't ride it opening day I still got the first rider T-shirt.

Also, I don't have hard numbers on either lift, but comparing the Maverick lift to the Millennium Force lift is no question to me Maverick's seems much quicker, but it slows toward the end.

The ride has a ton of ejector air, and the horseshoe roll is a great inversion(s).

The launch is fun, and you get some floater air at the top of the hill out of the tunnel. You think after the launch the ride would tame down, but it doesn't. It is just as fun as the beginning of the ride.

Originally I was upset because I first got in line around 6:00pm on Monday and waited ~ 1.5hrs. The ride then broke down and they couldn't get it working so it was shut down for the remainder of the night.

The next morning first thing I went to Maverick and the wait was probably 30-40 minutes, but it broke down again for 30 minutes probably but eventually got running again.

Let me say it was worth the wait, and had I had more than 2 days at the park I would have ridden it many more times.

As far as the headbaning goes, it can occur, but is almost non-existent if you know how to ride it. If you sit there and let your body flop around it can cause a little head pain, but the way I ride it it caused no pain at all, and I usually get headaches very easily from having very sensitive sinuses.

9.9 out of 10

I agree too. And I too was there on Monday and Tuesday. I got in line when the park opened, at 10. The line was still the same amount of minutes.

I agree... Oh well... It's better than nothing for now.

"Is it over?" *launches* :haha:

Haha I know that was so funny. What a dumbass. Its like okay, you are in a very long tunnel, do you see the station anywhere at all? Haha

But yea I definatley agree with you Snoo. I am glad I actually went on. I was not going to go on because I was scared of the power launches.. I hate them.

But let me just say. The first hill, truley amazing. I just love how the hill is launched up. Then going down the hill, speechless. It was so fantastic! You practially are standing up in your seat.

I love the turns afterwords. Just one advice for anyone who goes on it. You may want to keep your head back in place or else your ears hurt. Trust me, the first time I went on, I put my head forward, so they kept banging against the restrainent.

Now, the ejector hill is amazing. You keep so much hill time on that thing I can't even explain. And the horseshoe rolls, just wow. You feel weightless on those!

The launch tunnel was the best thing. Inside, it slows down. Then, when it launches, there is a big roar sound and there are these really cool blue lights on the walls. (There may be more, I am not sure because each time I sat in the last seat).

I really like the helix and S-bend. Those are really cool. The ending part is reallly nice too. The weird track elements are amazing.

The ride is also so amazingly smooth.

So all in all, this ride is the best at CP. 10/10 for me.

Does anyone think the line will die down by next year? I personally don't think it will because this ride is too amazing to pass up and not ride it!

Seeing as how you live in Ohio I could assume you have a season pass, or at least go the the park a lot. You could always get the Joe Cool Club thing for 1 hour of ERT.

I heard lines before 10 are < 30 minutes

$15 for all year is a good deal IMO

Looks awesome. I need to talk my dad to taking me out there this summer for a weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew where they were showing an actual POV on the internet? Does anyone know?
