And I cannot begin to say how disappointed I am. First the Graphics look to be out of comic book, the interface is the worst I have ever seen and the camera is just terrible.

I am also really disappointed with the game play, having to loot your tombstone to get your gear back is retarded, you just got your butt handed to you by 3 mobs and your supposed to run back naked and loot your tombstone while those 3 mobs beat the crap out of you? And whats with the intro every time you create a new character, you should be able to skip that without having to do the tutorial all over again.

Don't quote me, but I think if you want to turn off the tutorial, go into options from the game menu, and uncheck tutorial?

Comic books graphics: Intentional. You can remove the black outlining. It's under options.
Interface: Annoying, but bearable.
Camera: Yes, worst camera I've ever seen in a video game.
Tombstone/corpse recover: Someone call the WAAAmbulance. Go play an MMO. Or Diablo/Diablo 2. You'll find that just recovering your corpse is a positively light penalty for death. I've dealt with loss of XP, loss of gold. Running to get a corpse that will decay over time... Just wandering back to your tombstone is no biggy at all. Click it and run. a lot better than UO where you had to manually loot your corpse.
Tutorial: Hey wow. I'm not the only one who thought it should be skippable. It also seems I'm not the only one who looked for a way to do it and found it under 'options'.

.... Yes, I like posting snarky jabs at people who post rather mundane complaints about a video game. I'd do more but I have to go to work.

Um, dude. Why did you buy it on Steam without downloading the free demo from Steam first? I mean really... when there's a full version of the game *AND* a demo, it goes without saying you grab the demo first. Saves money just in case you find you don't like the game. As for running back naked to your tombstone? If you manage your loot drops correctly, you never need to do that. And once you've finished the "safe" mission, you can buy insurance for when you die *and* keep back-up items in the safe. Again, so you'll never be running round naked.

The only downside I see to Silverfall from Steam is Atari's complete lack of desire to support it and keep it patched up to date. That's not Steam's problem though, that's Atari's.

Actually I believe that the lack of patching is Monte Cristo's problem.

How is Atari going to develop patches for a game they didn't develop? They're the publishers.

It works like this:
Monte Cristo is a smaller game company that doesn't have a lot of oomph. Or money to burn.
Atari is a massive company with plenty of money to burn.
Atari uses their pull to get Monte Cristo's games in to more stores and big names stores all over the world, for which they get part of the money from selling the games.

This makes everyone happy, in theory. Monte Cristo, because their game sells all over the world. Atari because they make more money, and players because they can easily get the game.

That also means Atari is not responsible for patching the game. Atari IS responsible for the customer service and tech support, which seems lacking too.

It seems like Atari has very low standards who who they'll publish though. Sure some games have been decent and well supported (NWN/NWN2) Some have had awesome releases but no support (ToEE), some have just .. well.. died. (Horizons)

..... Yes, I need a life.

Unfortunately Atari did not release the version of the game that is found on Steam. This was provided to Steam via the Developer of Silverfall - Monte Cristo. Atari had nothing to do with the Steam version of the Silverfall and therfore we are not able to support it.

If you need support with the Steam version of Silverfall you need to contact either Steam or Monte Cristo. Atari DID NOT publish the Steam version of this game. All patches for the Steam version of the game have to come directly from the developer to Steam.

It's not that we do not want to support the Steam version, it is just that we did not release it and therefore we cannot support it, we do not have access to that build of the game and we also do not have access to the Steam activation software, etc. For an Atari Supported Digital Download please visit Atari.com/us

Can you give me a link to the page where you think that it is linking to us?

I have asked Steam to fix the links. As I said before help needs to come from Steam or Monte Cristo.

Thanks,
Matt

Then explain why the Steam store states:

Title : Silverfall
Developer : Monte Cristo
Publisher : Atari
Release Date : March 20, 2007
Languages : English, French, German, Italian, Spanish

That makes you responsible. And if you're not responsible, then perhaps you'd better tell Monte Cristo that as well.

I have just sent a notification to Steam to have that fixed to say Monte Cristo. This way customers are no longer going to be confused.

Thank you for letting me know about this!

Play the game for more than two hours and then make a review on it. Everyone at first dislikes the controls, camera, and thinks the game is too hard. However, if you get past level three or four and adequately invested your skill and stat points you will no longer get beat by "three mobs".

My newest character, who is only level 14, is able to beat several dozen enemies of equal level at the same time due to his build. Only problem I run into is running low on energy when I have to fight more than 12 things at a time... THough, a mana potion will always help me with that. Not to mention when you stand still you get some 45 energy per second if you have the said skill.

Try using Fist hand to hand weapons and investing in the fury of blows or whatever it was called, that makes it so you are able to attack some 20 times in one second; it slaughters any group of enemies in a matter of seconds before they even have an opportunity to harm you.

Also, while it may take some time to get used to, the camera and controls are actually quite easy to use and adequate for the game's build (At least for my character's and their skills it has been).

The poster was complaining about issues that happen in all versions, not just the digidistros. If he was having trouble connecting to Steam, or Steam.exe was crashing, I could understand. I know you're just doing your job, but it seems silly to cover Atari in this situation.
