Is it a FULL circle? As in, are all of the lights red? If so, then don't fret -- it simply means that the AV cable is loose or not plugged in.

Call them fast. They were making free out of warranty repairs, as long as you didn't mod it. I got mine back and immediately put an extra year on my warranty.

Remember to ensure it's 3 red lights, otherwise something else is wrong.

I officially hate Microshaft. Never before have I had this much trouble getting a console fixed.
So my Crapbox 360 broke down about 2 weeks ago. I call Microshaft's customer support center. After screwing around with an a$$hole for about an hour who wouldn't quit playing around with his co-workers, I'm told that I'll be sent a box that should arrive in 2-3 days, and all I have to do is mail it to them with my reference number, and they'll fix it.
All is well, right?
Wrong.
After week one, still no box. I call Microshaft again and get a guy who barely speaks English. He helps me none in finding out about where this box I was supposed to get is.
Two weeks later now. Where's my box?
I find it ridiculous that Microshaft sells millions of these consoles, and can't hire decent customer service reps that actually do what they say they will, or put enough time into a console so that when the consumer pays $400 for it, it doesn't break down!
I'll remember to buy a warranty the next time I buy a product from Microshaft. Eff you, Bill Gates.

Anyway, if its 3 red lights, and you need a few more minutes of play time try wrapping the box in a heavy towel. 90% of time the hardware failure is the CPU solder coming loss cause its made of crap. Covering the vent heats the console back up and you have a chance of resoldering the connections.

I had actually just found out about that, and I tried it, and it's working for now, but we'll see how long it works for.

I used my own box, sent it off on a monday and recieved it on a Friday. Most people who I know their service has been excellent, just a few nasty cases.

Well, on the X-Box boards, I've seen numerous complaints. The towel trick is working for now, hopefully it'll keep working for a while, at least until I can get my box.

I keep my 360 under "lock and key" i also clean every so often. by cleaning it i mean wiping it down with a DRY towel, and get the dust off and it theres anything blocking the vents i move it, and usually if its food ill eat it.. hey its warm most of the time, so why not? :haha:

If its a full circle then i guess its the ring of death. And ive had some pretty bad experiences with microsoft. They said i would recieve a new 360 but i ended up having to call them about 3 times to finally get my replacement.
I know im gonna spark a riot here but when my PSP broke i got the replacement via parclenet within a day. no messing around with boxes and having to send them back. I got my new PSP and the delivery guy took my old one. I even got a complementary 256mb memory card.

*Lets get him* :P Nah Different places work differently, Microsoft CAN be helpful with some things, perhaps their broken consoles thing isn't too high up on that list though. I haven't actually needed them for the Xbox 360 *yet* but I remember when it was 1st released they did offer free replacement & so on.

The actual 'ring of death' is only 3 segments. The full ring is telling you a cable is loose or something, not hardware failure.
And my service form MS has been consistantly excelent.

I had to ship mine in and it was smooth. A lot of people have problems because they get a flaky customer rep (all of them are in India and don't speak good English) and a lot of folks don't follow instructions when they send the 360 back.
I had to send in a PS2 too ... and it was rather smooth too.
NP with customer service reps ...

My brother just had the 3 lights of death and the rep that he talked to was surprisingly american :eek2:. But yeah. Microsoft is known for its bad customer service...and i was just watching G4 and it said briefly that 30-40% of all 360s fail... Ill get a link when i can
