As the title ask, what do you think is the best themed flatride?

I haven't ridden this one yet, but it just looks amazing.

It's technically a flatride I'd say, as you only go vertical.

EDIT: Found out by looking in the First Drop magazine; Tower of Terror at Tokyo DisneySea.

You think Tokyo's ToT is bad? DisneySea has some of the best theming in any Disney park.

I'll have to check it out then, thanks.

You don't say NGS. I was gonna post a picture of their Huss Frissbe, but I couldn't find a picture, but it has these 'stones snakes' up the four supports of the frissbee.

Oh, and I would die to ride their B&M Flying Coaster, Crystal Wings ;d

To be quite frank kylr23 my friend, I think most would agree that Tokyo's Tower is the best, I mean, look at the theming! Late 19th Century Gothic! A storyline about a Joe Rhode lookalike! And an evil idol! So what it's all in Japanese, it's in Japan! I wouldn't expect any less! The one problem with this one, is that, WDW is still the only TOT with the 'Fifth Dimension' room..

Well, ECC's First Drop Magazine did a report on alot chinese parks, not so long time ago, and there was a big picture of the frisbee, so I just took a picture of it, with my cell.

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9044/08062007369pa6.jpg

But sadly the 'snakes' are going to be chopped off, says the same magazine in the newest issue, because "the park believed that the vibration within the columns would over time cause them to break off."

It looses alot of it charm, sadly.

-NGS-
06-08-2007, 11:01 AM
At least they recognize the problem. That's a lot better than having the snakes randomly fall off one day and people running around in panic.

Yep Hex has to be one of the best themed rides in the world. So much so that they actually recreate the musty smell you find in some decaying old buildings.

Exactly what kind of ride is Hex? The Alton Towers website gave me nothing.

Hex scared me fast time, I went on it when i was like 6 and not realising it was a madhouse ride (I hated going upside down at the time) ran straight on and came out shaking and everything :( really love it now though.

Same question, what kind of flatride is Hex, or what is Hex? Do you get upside/down, or what?

Boston

Apparently it's a Vekoma Madhouse Ride. I found this on some website:

The ride is made up of several rows of seats attached to a swaying gondola within a rotating drum.

It all takes place in a themed room. So, I'm guessing it's like a smaller Top Spin that rotates on the base? (God, I wish I could go to England to ride that)

Edit: Here's a picture of a Madhouse Ride that I found on the same site:
http://www.joylandbooks.com/scenicrailway/images/Conceptplan/24-mad-house.jpg
It's not a picture of Hex, but I imagine it's similar.

Edit: I'm very interested in finding out more about this, so I found another picture on the Vekoma website:

If you want a video of Hex here ya go, btw, its a true story

You dont actually go upside down, it feels like it and tbh, it completly messes with your head

I'm really confused now...how the heck did they create that illusion...?

Cyberleader
06-09-2007, 03:54 PM
Why, you swing lightly, and the room spins of course! :p

The the timing of the actual swinging and the room spinning has the be exact to make it really mess with your head.

Evostance
06-09-2007, 04:21 PM
Yeh basically the room and the chairs move at the same time at first. So basically it feels like your moving but you appear to not b movinb, so your head adjusts itself, then when the move seperaltly you get confused etc etc etc

I honestly think that, well it is greatly themed, the ride itself is crap. Once you realise that it's just playing with your mind, the thrill and wonder completely disappear.

Cyberleader
06-09-2007, 05:07 PM
And that's why it's not always the best thing to know how things happen!

But people still walk out of there (*coughchavscough*) saying "OMG, I can't believe we went upside down and didn't fall out!"

:bored:

^No, it wouldn't. The ride involves cars moving on a track system.

All I really remember is the horrid wait time. Of course, that was way back when it just opened.

But, we all know that the best-themed flatride is:
