Hi, everyone. Been a while since my last visit here, nice to see that the forum is still going strong.
I don't have that much live experience with roller coasters (living in Norway and everything) but recently two friends and I visited Gothenburg in Sweden and of course the theme park Liseberg, right in the heart of the city. Liseberg has three quite decent coasters including Balder, the woodie which ranks high or even tops "best wooden coaster in the world" web rankings.
I'll be happy to share the experience with you guys, as I took a bunch of videos and photos. This experience made me want to play RCT3 again, which is why I got back. Especially I would like to recreate Balder, perhaps the other coasters as well and even the whole Liseberg if time permits.
For the time being the only movie out is kind of a trailer, linked in the sig. Check it out if you like!
Thanks, see ya.

Looks like you had a great time. I must agree with you, Balder is a one-of-a-kind coaster.
I so want to ride Uppsvinget, with that location, the sensation when riding it must be awesome.

The European Coaster Club are doing a tour of Scandinavian parks next month...you'll have to time a visit to see us all. We are visiting parks in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, including Liseberg.
Looking forward to it...been to Scandi a few times now...the people are really friendly, the rides unique, the parks' hospitality to the club when we visit is amazing.

I really want to ride Daemon (I think that's the name), the sheer size of that thing makes it look great. Balder also looks great.

Do you mean the B&M floorless at Tivoli Gardens Denmark (Daemonen). If so, that's a great ride...really compact layout. Having seen the site before it was built when a small zierer coaster was on there, you would lay bets that it was impossible to get a floorless in there, but they did.
If you mean the launched coaster at Liseberg, that is Kanonen. Good launch, although the manic twist at the end of the ride is a bit wild for the restraints.

Daemonen, that's the one, thanks :). I think it looks awesome, and alot more impressive than the regular B&M coaster in America. Definitely looks interesting, and looks as though it would be quite scary, with it being so compact.

Ah, yes, the Daemon! I've ridden it, it's very good and compact as hell. Great stuff. When it comes to Kanonen (the cannon), it's nice and compact and a few good inversions and turns, but I still can't help being a bit frustrated when it's done. It is (or at least feels) so short that it doesn't quite justify the waiting time.
Actually, the coaster called Speed Monster (http://tusenfryd.no/parken/speedmonster.aspx) is longer, wilder and better. This one you find in Tusenfryd (a similiar park to Liseberg situated just outside Oslo whose name means the daisy flower, or directly translated, thousand pleasures). It's another Intamin coaster, going 0-90 km/h in 2,2 sec.
The text is in Norwegian (stupid people bragging about the coaster being international elite, but can't bother to translate the stuff to english) but there are two nice videos near the bottom of the page.

I've ridden Dæmonen too, and I think it's amazing that they can fit a coaster that heigh and with those inversions in there, and it is even a B&M! The best part is definately the zero-g-roll for me, especially in the back row.
I love the atmosphere around the ride, and that it is actually flying over a small midway, under Dæmonen.
^ Must agree, Speed Monster looks much more intresting then Kanonen does. But there are also some rides in Finland that looks very intresting.

We are doing all those parks next month...should be fun!
I love Scandinavia...great parks and coasters.
There will be trip updates on the ECC website as we do the trip (www.coasterclub.org)

Dæmonen is really quite something. I never expected it to be so compact, but, the ride lives up to it's name. It was very fun and very fast for such a small ride.
Balder still stands as number one on my list of woodies (it is tied up with El Toro). Both are great rides (El Toro is faster, taller, huge airtimes. Balder is smaller, INCREDIBLE airtimes, and packs a punch!). I also love Upsvinget, as it is very fun and feels like your flying. Kanonen is rather a big let down, as it is very small and quite tame in my opinion. If you want to ride an upgrade of that one, go to Tusenfryd in Norway and ride Speed Monster. Liseberg's third coaster, Lisebergbanan, is very long, fast, and fun! All three coasters are great, and hopefully the park will build another one soon.
