I have tickets to go to Six Flags over Georgia sometime this summer. I feel silly to admit it, but I have never gone on any coasters with inversions. So, I plan on going on the MindBender there as my first. It only has a double loop, so I think ill be fine. What do you guys think? Do you guys have a better suggestion for a good first inverting coaster at SFOG?

I personally have never been on Mindbender. It looks like it would be a good one. But don't take it from me, I never rode, Id suggest talking to a few peeps who have been on it already. If I were you, I would take Mindbender (it's looks alot to be alot tamer than the Great Nor'Easter at Moreys Piers in Wildwood NJ, my first looper) Again, take it from people who have been on it, not me

Haven't been on Mindbender, but I have been on many inversions. They are fun and I know once you try Mindbender, you will start liking inversions.

This is what it feels like. Once you go up in a loop, you feel yourself being pulled into your seat because of the G forces. On the the top of the loop, you feel less heavy, but once back down after the loop, you feel as heavy when you went up the loop. Since there is 2 loops you may feel dizzy at first, but it will go away in a few seconds.

Hope that tells you what a loop feels like. Btw, it is fun looking to the side or up when you are in a loop. You can see the ground go around you or you can see the train in front of you (depends where you sit).

Mindbender is a great ride...I think it is perfect for your first inversions. Not too intense, pretty smooth. Classic ride.

I'll go ahead and put in my two cents worth here...

First of all, Mindbender at SFoG was my first looping/inversion ride. And I love it to this day. There's only two loops on it. The first loop is immediately after the 1st drop. The 2nd loop is the one you see coming into the main parking lot... it's after the 4th drop.

A few comments:

1: The train usually makes a clunking noise and the car shakes at bit after the midpoint of the lift hill. This is normal, and is nothing to worry about.

2: At the top of the lift hill, the train pauses for a moment, and then starts to roll forward. This, too, is normal, and is nothing to worry about. The designer liked doing this for several of his coasters.

3: The most intense G forces aren't actually in the inversions; they're in the dive loop, which really is a steeply angled helix. Expect to be pushed into your seat hard.

4: Mindbender doesn't have over the shoulder restraints. This is normal... it's never needed them. Your restraint system consists of an individually locking lap bar.

5: Before you go into a loop, push your head straight back against the headrest. If you can't do this, push it back as far as you can, and hold your head straight. This makes for a much more comfortable ride.

I recommend riding in the front seat for your first time. This way, you can clearly see what's ahead of you. I also recommend holding on to the train until you have ridden it several times... there's lots of ejector airtime on this coaster, and holding on will help you with it.

Anyway, enjoy! It's one of the best steel coasters out there, imho, and it's one of Schwarzkopf's best coasters. I'm sure you'll love it. Let us know when you go, and some of us might be able to meet you in the park for your first ride, if you wish.

I will most definitely ride in the front seat.
Thanks for the help all!

Well, my first looper was Batman The Ride @ SFGAm near Chicago and I did that when I was eight. I recommend hitting up Mindbender but I think you should also go on some of the other good rides later like Batman, Superman, the woodies, and Georgia Schorcher if you can handle it.

I have never been to this park but I have been on the Batman and Superman clones at Great America and Iron Wolf which I have heard is a lot worse than Georgia Schorcher so I would just ease into the rides but go on as many coasters as you can handle.

Also, 99% of the time, unless you are riding an SLC, you will not regret riding a coaster even if you are scared to tears before it. My brother went on Raging Bull, Goliath, and Xcelerator when he was 9 and 10 years old so I bet you can handle this.

Have fun at the park!

You know, I forgot one thing... if you're going to ride ANY of the coasters at SFoG, ride Goliath! It's the #9 steel coaster in the world right now, it's less than a year old, and it's an incredible ride. No inversions, 200ft high, 9 floater airtime hills... it's just the best steel coaster I've ever been on. (Thunderhead at Dollywood is my favorite wooden, btw.) Go ride Goliath, if you ride nothing else... ride Goliath.

I really can't remember my first looping coaster. It may have been Laser at Dorney or Loch Ness at BGE, I'm really not sure.:weird:

Anyway, I agree with Squid2, Mindbender looks like a good coaster to start with.

- ZachThanks for the info! If I can take mindbender, Ill ride the batman coaster as well.(That would be my first suspended coaster as well....) Superman...Eh, that butterfly loop looks crazy.

Squid2Man oh man, Goliath is awesome looking. When I went last month, I was saying to myself,"I'm hitting up Goliath just as soon as I get there, yep." Get into the parking lot, Look up at the dang thing. BIG mistake. I'm like,"holy @&#*@& that is tall!" So I didn't go on it. But I WILL conquer it this time!(Shakes fist in air)

My first looping ride ever was Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain and even in its old age, its one heck of a ride. In fact it was the first successfull looping coaster ever. Since then I have riden just about every ride at SFMM in cluding Tatsu, my #1 favorite ride of all time, its just amazing and has the best loop ever

My brother who's eight went on Superman and it is not scary at all it's REALLY fun. Also if you can do Mindbender, in my opinion you can do anything at the park. This park's scariest ride is Goliath, which is my fav steel. I think you can ride these rides they're not scary.
