Good afternoon,

My roommate and I recently purchased the game (yesterday night) with the desire to play co-op over our local network. Early on we encountered a few of the problems people have posted here (I browsed this entire forum seeking an answer prior to posting this), but we were able to work around them and have absolutely enjoyed the game so far.

The problem is this:

We have gotten our characters to the mid-teens, and upon coming home from work we started the game up and I created the campaign again (I was the orginal creator), and my friend is unable to join the server with an error message stateing something about being impossible to join mine. We tried a few ideas:

- Him creating it (I was unable to join)
- Both of us making new characters, seeing if the other could join (obviously didn't work)
- Patching (since the patch notes listed fixes to the lan/multiplayer parts of the game)

We have hit a dead end here, and are pretty fusturated. We are going to remake characters (we weren't that high level after all), but I would hate to encounter the same problem tomorrow when we try to pick up where we left off. Are we missing something? I noticed in the patch notes that the ability to switch players "sometimes" from free-to-campaign was possible but I didn't see the option anywhere.

Do we have to just play the game solo, or is there a setting or something we can use so that we can complete this game under a co-op setting?

Would vastly appreciate someone knowledgeable or a system admin to respond to this post as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Since we have really enjoyed the game thus far, we are going to remake characters under the non-campaign mode. It's our hope that under that setting we will have the ability to play together during our free-time, though it's a pity since personally I've always enjoyed playing a game through it's intended plot line.

Still would appreciate some helpful suggestions and/or a solution to this problem, I'll make sure to check this forum now and then.

Thanks again.

what kind of router do you have?have you tried port forwarding on it yet.most routers will block such traffic without port forwarding set up on it.

Appreciate the feedback, though that isn't our problem. We see each other (so the router is functioning properly), just get error messages such as "impossible to join this campaign" etc etc.

yup thats right you will see each other.i ran a game server for the game freelancer for nearly 2 years.at first i had the same problem i could see the server, but couldnt connect to it myself.i almost gurantee port forwarding will be your fix.im not saying anything is wrong with your router its doing exactly what its built to do.routers have security features made to stop such traffic.because that type traffic can also be used by hackers to attack your pc.

yeah just check out your manual,and/or look at the website.you should be able to find some port forwarding instructions somewhere.
