im DYING to know what the said "5 prestige classes" in this game are. i even e-mailed the kuju representative and he gave me some answers on some things but nothing on prestiges. it's my main question right now. i can't wait. i have all my characters laid out already, but i dont know how much will change once i know what the prestiges are.
my starting 6 is comprised of:
A Wildshaping Spellcasting Druid.
A Cleric of Olidimarra(Luck, Trickery).
A Shaper Psion.
A psychic warrior falchion charger.
A Wizard..duh.
And some sort of rogue combination with a spiked chain.
what about you? :D

I don't like it when people you e-mail with a question either "forget" or ignore part of your request. Don't take that from them, you e-mail them again with just the question about prestige classes and find out!!! :haha: (maybe they just forgot?)
Fighter
Paladin or Barbarian
Psychic Warrior
Cleric
Rogue w/a level or two in Monk
Wizard (either standard, or Evoker)

lol no, he acknowledged everything, it was just he either said things like he's not in the position to disclose that information or it's unavailable but he'd try to find out more (never did) blah blah, you know the deal. i'm sure it was just that he didn't want me spilling all the news to the public or something, so you can't blame him, the painful curiosity of one kid apparently doesn't get priority over the "top secret" information about his game, darn. :p

The IGN article seems to say no prestige classes at all.
IGN: There are thirteen character classes in D&D Tactics, including the Psion and Psychic Warrior. Was there a reason to include these mental specialists over other prestige classes?

he means that as other classes in general though, as in the fact that they included psion/psychic warrior, 2 classes not in the players handbook, over say wilder/soulknife, 2 classes from the same book as the chosen two. so no worries. i'm positive theyll have them, ive been assured personally, as well as 9th level spells which was also in question from lol "screenshots" pssh. cuz they apparently only show 15th level and no multiclassing, so of course, they DIDNT ADD THEM! lol. i was told personally in an e-mail from KuJu they have both prestiges and 9th level spells, so even if there is a level cap, its more around 17-18th, not 15th. the fact that they dont SHOW it meaning it doesnt exist is ridiculous, they intentionally didnt give you the storyline either, soooo, that mean there isnt one? try some positive thinking people, stop crying before there's a reason to. i just don't like false information/rumors with no support being put out there.

meny people on meny forums are asking these questions, so its not so much false information as fans holding out hope and asking questions. While its great that you have been personally told inside information, how about asking your in the loop friend to come on to these official forums and officialy conferm what you were told to be true?
Untill the game comes out no one (you included) knows the truth.
So whats wrong with asking for more information?
And as long as you seem to know someone who can officially conferm these things and all.

i don't have an in the loop friend. and i'm no more "in" than anyone else here. i just went to the kuju official website and e-mailed the address given to me from there with my fingers crossed. i didn't even know if he handled any of these games personally himself, especially this specific one. turns out he did know a lot about it though.
he couldn't give me the prestiges then, but nothing said they wouldn't exist. it was a while back, i could see that one maybe getting dropped because it's mentioned officially very infrequently and rarely. 9th level spells i've seen come up in multiple interviews and i specifically asked if they would be in the game at all and got a definite yes, so as much as we really don't know until it comes out i have no doubts that level 9 spells will exist which in turn means characters at at least 17th level for wizards and 18th for sorcerers, so i strongly disbelieve level 15 is a likely level cap.
as far as multiclassing goes, it was never discussed anywhere but like someone else said it's a basic concept and essentially a player's right in dungeons and dragons, when you level up theyre going to give you the option to go into any of the other classes available. granted, i haven't seen them talk much about it specifically being in the game, but nowhere have they said it won't be either. you can't assume they're going to show you everything through screenshots.

Not to add more piss to the cheerios bowl...BUT this is the most recent interview with developers:
Jonric: What are the race and class options for the player character, and what other choices occur during the creation process? Is advancement largely focused on combat-related skills and abilities as we might expect?
Lee Brimmicombe-Wood: The core rules races and classes will be present. Races include elves, humans, half-elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings and half-orcs. Classes include Barbarians, Bards, Clerics, Druids, Fighters, Monks, Paladins, Rangers, Rogues, Sorcerers and Wizards. We even have two new classes using psionic abilities, the Psion and Psychic Warrior. Each character is created just like the D&D rules. You specify race, class, abilities, skills, feats and so on.
Just as in the D&D rules, as the player levels up and progresses they will get opportunities to add to their abilities, feats and skills. As the game is very focused on combat, there are not a lot of non-combat skills and abilities in the game, though we've done our best to try and compensate for this and balance the characters.
IT JUST SEEMS LIKE if they were going to have prestige classes... this is the moment when they would have mentioned it... as opposed to the one AND only statement made in 2004 when this forum got started. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT.. there is a chance. Im hoping for it... but I dont recommend EXPECTING those lovely Prestiges.
Regardless Im excited to try out this Rogue7/Fighter4/Barbarian4 character ive been dying to do.
Cant wait to sink teeth into some Psion and Psychic Warrior as well. Those two are a must for my party cuz you never get to play them anywhere. (In VideoGame D&D)
