What's so bad about buying a wii? the ps2 is old and doesn't have that capability use of online as the wii or 360 I mean people rarely plays the ps2 online. People lets close this topic. Wii is sh_it, people are waiting most for GTA4 and they are saving money for ps3 or xbox360.Nobody will buy will just for one game. Most people have ps2 and they would like to have online mode. And Im sure that in wii online mode there wont be enough players to do a league.

I remember some info saying that wii and ps2 versions will have different developer-teams. So I thought that those versions may be very different from each other.

it should, even bt2 for wii looked slightly better than the ps2 version, if you have the component cables to diplay it in 480p then yes it should look excelent.

3rd Party have their own will to choose whether or not they want to implement FCs into an online game. EA has chosen to use FCs. Not too sure about Activision, since GH 3 is online.



Graphics wise, yes. Wii can't compete with the graphics of the 360 and PS3. It's a bit better than the Xbox by 10 Mhz. Just like last generation, the weakest console wins.

Both systems have potential, the bad thing about the PS3 as many of the once exclusive titles are also going to be for the 360, like GTA and rumored the next FF. Nintendo is known for their exclusive titles it just doesn't have one or two good games it has a whole line up.

Both systems have potential, the bad thing about the PS3 as many of the once exclusive titles are also going to be for the 360, like GTA and rumored the next FF. Nintendo is known for their exclusive titles it just doesn't have one or two good games it has a whole line up.
The PS3 will too over time but it isn't a perfect game console. You can't truely consider yourself a hardcore gamer if you miss out on the main games from any of the three big consoles.

Thats a matter of opinion, I believe they are on par as far a quality games go. However the PS2 does not stand a chance against this gens consoles because most people are aiming on buying the newest products.

I dont wana choose or notin, but this is how it is, i saw a video at a games site, basically, Wii is only good for first party games (games specifically made for the console) how they reached the top i am clueless, x-box 360 may be big but it is at its disadvantages since the console only consists of 1st person shooters, (Halo, gears of war, bio shock, etc) (thought i'd bring it up) PS2/3 consists of games that are made for all types of users weather they are hardcore or even new comers, dont wana side but thats how it was puted by the experts, i thought i'd just say this to stop ppl competing with repetetive posts(Wii is better, ps2 is bette..............u get my drift)

The Wii has gained support of many 3rd party developers in the last few months. I agree though, why argue about which is better when each have a vast fan-base. If one fails then we haave justification to say it sucks but all are doing well.

Kiddie = light-mooded not too serious wacky game that is fun but not for "serious" gaming.

Example....crash banticoot super mario and jak and daxter are games that are light mooded , do not revolve around too serious subjects and are fun to play. Playing these games though does not constitute serious gaming but rather a more simple not too involved gaming for simple fun. (even if you play it for 10 hours str8)

On the other hand when you play metal gear solid the whole experience of it , mainly it's godly story (not it's 3-4 gory/bloody movies) elate it a few stages above the games i mentioned above making it a more serious gaming experience.

And lol at your sessame street comment...that's not kiddy that's infant games....i kicked ass on sonic one at age 3-5....i don't know what kind of kids would play a game like that and you offering it as an example makes me question you even more :confused:.

Well...that was my point...your...how to put it..."gamer profile" is that of a 9 year old. Nothing wrong with just playing kiddie games for simple fun don't get me wrong...it's just that once i (and most poeple i know) was 12-13 i wanted more...i wanted a story i wanted something behind the crate breaking and the mushroom jumping. That's where final fantasy metal gear solid and games like that that are a few stages above the kiddie games come in the picture.

Also - like my other post said - zelda WW was one of the very few serious games of GC.

And you chose to buy 26 games i can't believe you bough all of em in 1 go...so you could get some for your ps2 instead of getting another GC game after the first 20 you already got for it right?

Esp on okami you really missed out and you really should try it out (multiply that statement x100 if you like anime or japanese culture....and x1000 if you like both). The game lasts about 45-50 hours (if you do all the sidequests and stuff) and i finished in 3 days without getting even remotely bored at any moment....one of my all time fav games for sure.

Yes that's exactly what i'm referring to. You're like " come on don't show me movies with story i just wanna hit stuff with swords i don't care about the characters or anything else!" for the games you mentined...esp FF , you need a certain level of mental maturity in order to be able to understand them , their complicated story and in order to not be bored by not actually playing the game for about the first hour where a lot of videos and tutorials take place (those will fall into place once you progress into the game but if you can't wait and dont' pay attention you'll be lost and get bored).

Mature gaming is when you play games that allow you understand why the characters of the game you play want do to those things they do , it requires more mental infusion rather than physical actions (turn based or not too reflex-needing battle systems basically).

In those games the movies are their best part , their story , not the actual gaming (that's why your statement "serious or not they're all games" doesn't apply) and until you are mature enough to be able to understand / appreciate that you'll still be the epitome of the kiddie games gamer.

I'm going to make a couple of points here that need to be addressed in a quick fashion.

1. Sony/Microsoft fans are deluded and blinded by what games are really good. It's always the samething that's said about Nintendo games. Here's some wonderful examples: "buhtt celda iz 4 kids bcuz of the same storyline!" "metroid iz not hardcuare bcuz it iz naut an fps!1!11" "mario iz naut hardcuare bcuz he's been wit uz since the nes an his plot dealz with saving a princsse!11!!! soooooo kiddy1!!1!" etc. etc. Then there's the common excuse for games that are actually hardcore but are chosen to be ignored on Nintendo consoles because of this response. "butt itz a multipltforum game!!111!11 it doesnz countz!" Yeah, but does that mean 360/PS3 got it first? No, it's not like it was their title in the first place. It's everyone's piece of pie whether you like it or not, it's on that console and therefore counts, this also constitutes for RE4 despite its port over to the PS2 (which sucked in comparison).

What defines hardcore? Longetivity, depth, plot, enjoyment, and in general if the game is full of things to do. By this definition, Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and etc. are all hardcore games. Whether you like it or not, it's the truth. Everyone is just deluded by the graphics of the games and the settings of which they take place. This continues onto my next point.

2. What determines the "kiddy" label? Graphics. Games somehow need semi-photo realistic graphics to be any good these days. Here's the usual quote from a fanboy of PS3/360, or rather, a graphics *****. "bootfiul grafix menz a gam iz hardcuare! mario izn;t hardcuare, hes kiddy bcuz of his bright colored grafix!" It's true (not the quote) and it's very prevelant in this topic. I could easily quote a crap load of people in this topic that have said this, but I'd be wasting my precious time (as it is I already am doing so).

Anyway, graphics to a game aren't necessary to determine whether it's a hardcore game or not (or kiddy or not). All you have to know is, how the game plays and how long it is and what the plot is to know whether it is hardcore or not. The plot usually doesn't count though because most games that are hardcore don't have deep storylines (an example of which is Zelda, which has beautiful graphics and wonderful gameplay but a simple storyline that is basic but deep when you play the game). I think people are too blinded by the graphics Sony and Microsoft give them so they're in turn spoiled and have to spit at Nintendo for not copying them. Also, apparently, rating determines what's kiddy and what isn't.

3. Now that we've established what a hardcore game is and what determines the "kiddy" label. It's time we established the things that are right and wrong with this topic. Let me get right on with it: Nintendo isn't in direct competition with Sony nor Microsoft. Compare them if you wish, but, you will get nothing out of it as the "Console Wars" was and has been made up since the 4th generation started with all the newbies in the gaming industry.

Let's get right down to it. Wii isn't kiddy, PS3/Xbox 360 are not either. Wii is different, Xbox 360/PS3 are the same. Wii is graphically inferior, 360/PS3 are superior. Wii's gameplay is magnificient and is expanding the audience, PS3/360's aren't expanding the audience but have good games. Wii is selling more than PS3 and 360. Last but not least, they all share the same games minus what are exclusives.

Sorry but, I disagree. SFA and Strikers are pretty hardcore games, and they'd be considered so if they both had online. And they still are hardcore. I also think you're missing a game that did come out on the Gamecube as well as the Wii. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That's hardcore, why'd you forget about that? Tales of Symphonia is in no way weaker than the other Tales games. Infact, every Tales fan disagrees with you wholeheartedly. That game is pure genius in its longetivity and is in no way kiddy, it was a very serious game. What's so hard to understand about that? Unless, you didn't play it for very long then you'd know that the game was indeed long and awesome.

Kiddie = light-mooded not too serious wacky game that is fun but not for "serious" gaming.

Example....crash banticoot super mario and jak and daxter are games that are light mooded , do not revolve around too serious subjects and are fun to play. Playing these games though does not constitute serious gaming but rather a more simple not too involved gaming for simple fun. (even if you play it for 10 hours str8)

I'm sorry, I disagree again. Those games are not kiddy. You're basing it off the themes they give. Jak and Daxter are actually quite loved by the hardcore audiences. Crash is actually also a loved platformer by all. And Mario is really hardcore because of SM64 and the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy (if you say that SMG is kiddy, I swear to freakin' God, I will freaking asplode! X_X That game looks beautiful and is freakin' expansive and huge).

Also I don't skip the cutscenes I take my sweet little time reading the text. THOUGH when I play it the seccond time around I just wanna get trough it. Rayman Raving Rabbids isn't kiddy at all. It was meant for the Rayman fans and those who like mini-game collections. If you're going to call Rayman Raving Rabbids kiddy, you may as well call every other mini-game compliation kiddy.

I know that all kiddy games are not kiddy, but, a lot of Nintendo's seem to get labelled that way and it's really not fair to them as, Mario, (a good example) is one of the gaming icons of the gaming industry yet he is mocked by being called "kiddy"? If anything, I think that's going a bit extreme. And, again, not most of the Wii's library is full of kiddy games (well right now...but it's still too early to say there are "a ton of kiddy games for the Wii"). I can name a bunch that are out and are coming to the Wii that aren't kiddy, but why bother? You're just going to counteract and say "all dos are 4 dah 360/PS3". Or "but dats a spin-off and thefroe doesz't count!!11111!"

I'm going to make a couple of points here that need to be addressed in a quick fashion.

1. Sony/Microsoft fans are deluded and blinded by what games are really good. It's always the samething that's said about Nintendo games. Here's some wonderful examples: "buhtt celda iz 4 kids bcuz of the same storyline!" "metroid iz not hardcuare bcuz it iz naut an fps!1!11" "mario iz naut hardcuare bcuz he's been wit uz since the nes an his plot dealz with saving a princsse!11!!! soooooo kiddy1!!1!" etc. etc. Then there's the common excuse for games that are actually hardcore but are chosen to be ignored on Nintendo consoles because of this response. "butt itz a multipltforum game!!111!11 it doesnz countz!" Yeah, but does that mean 360/PS3 got it first? No, it's not like it was their title in the first place. It's everyone's piece of pie whether you like it or not, it's on that console and therefore counts, this also constitutes for RE4 despite its port over to the PS2 (which sucked in comparison).

What defines hardcore? Longetivity, depth, plot, enjoyment, and in general if the game is full of things to do. By this definition, Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and etc. are all hardcore games. Whether you like it or not, it's the truth. Everyone is just deluded by the graphics of the games and the settings of which they take place. This continues onto my next point.

2. What determines the "kiddy" label? Graphics. Games somehow need semi-photo realistic graphics to be any good these days. Here's the usual quote from a fanboy of PS3/360, or rather, a graphics *****. "bootfiul grafix menz a gam iz hardcuare! mario izn;t hardcuare, hes kiddy bcuz of his bright colored grafix!" It's true (not the quote) and it's very prevelant in this topic. I could easily quote a crap load of people in this topic that have said this, but I'd be wasting my precious time (as it is I already am doing so).

Anyway, graphics to a game aren't necessary to determine whether it's a hardcore game or not (or kiddy or not). All you have to know is, how the game plays and how long it is and what the plot is to know whether it is hardcore or not. The plot usually doesn't count though because most games that are hardcore don't have deep storylines (an example of which is Zelda, which has beautiful graphics and wonderful gameplay but a simple storyline that is basic but deep when you play the game). I think people are too blinded by the graphics Sony and Microsoft give them so they're in turn spoiled and have to spit at Nintendo for not copying them. Also, apparently, rating determines what's kiddy and what isn't.

3. Now that we've established what a hardcore game is and what determines the "kiddy" label. It's time we established the things that are right and wrong with this topic. Let me get right on with it: Nintendo isn't in direct competition with Sony nor Microsoft. Compare them if you wish, but, you will get nothing out of it as the "Console Wars" was and has been made up since the 4th generation started with all the newbies in the gaming industry.

Let's get right down to it. Wii isn't kiddy, PS3/Xbox 360 are not either. Wii is different, Xbox 360/PS3 are the same. Wii is graphically inferior, 360/PS3 are superior. Wii's gameplay is magnificient and is expanding the audience, PS3/360's aren't expanding the audience but have good games. Wii is selling more than PS3 and 360. Last but not least, they all share the same games minus what are exclusives.

I'm not going to go into what's kiddy and what isn't right now but basically let me quote a few people.

Ok SFA wasn't as kiddie as the others but it wasn't serious...and it's the whole theme that attributes to that not only the animal chars. Strikers however is kiddie....fantasy soccer...yeah a immature imaginative pretty fun game...no way nearly the level of seriousness rpgs mgs DMC and other serious games have.

I guess since i own TP on the wii i sorta omitted (forgot) it's GC version. But i didn't ignore it on purpose and i agree with what you said about it. And i never said ToS was kiddie , if you read i said it was one of the weaker tales games. (my fav is abyss...i am a tales fan after all...i liked the anime version of ToS more than the game lol )

You again go assuming that i never played the games..or that i don't like em...i loved jak 2 and 3..they're great games but they still had that crash banticoot feel (which i also loved...i have every CB game out there...even some GBA ones XD) i don't say kiddie games suck...i just say that they are a few stages below serious games. Good not the best and not for serious (not 100% based on instant gratification) gaming . And as for galaxy...unless it has a decent story i'm afraid i'll have to implode you :haha:...a short fat plummer jumping from planet to planet although epic(ish...) is no way the same as shadow of the colossus FF mgs2 and other game experiences. (again i'm not saying it's not gonna be fun...it's gonna be great pointless empty with nothing behind it fun)

I never once touched the graphics subject (i love cell shaded graphics...). My beef with those games were their lack of story or "higher purpose" / "important reason" to do the stuff you have to do...not just having "save the princes from being painted upon" as your sole drive to play upon.

Well, either way Dreiko, most of my post was also directed at everyone else in this topic. Galaxy still looks amazing and will probably follow the path of SMB3 except in space (Bee suit and Boo suit FTW!)

Lastly, the Wii is a fun console that for those that hate it so much shouldn't knock it before they try it. Especially, with the new peripherals that were just announced.
