Water World Set 1 v1.1 released!

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/3498/beachhouseku2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

2 new pieces have been added for version 1.1. You will need these if you want to view the Water World park when it is released for download.

Here's a little something I've started working on...

Terrain Planters
http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/2848/plantersjb5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

These are raised, terrain covered, pieces that can be used as planters. They will fit most curved wall pieces, including all of Cook's curved walls.

Aroundthehorn started a similar set, but I think he isn't working on it any more. Correct me if I'm wrong, ATH.

That looks very nice! I have been wondering if something like this was going to be made by somebody.

The terrain on these pieces will match the terrain's texture, correct? Like, if there's snow under that piece, the top will have snow too?

07-25-2007, 03:44 PM
There are round terrain covered pieces in my new set, but I don't know exactly, how the line up with rounded walls.

Yes.

Edit: I know you don't do requests, but would you consider making some mulch, using the same shapes as the terrain blocks?

Yes, these will match whatever terrain you put under them. And they won't be path covers, as they will be raised above the paths.

It's a great idea and I would like to know, how did you manage it, that the texture of the ground is inside the planters.

I know, you don't like request, but if you can make please also very small curved pieces, so that a whole ring of four curved piced just cover one tile in RCT3?

And The_Cook's textures are great, but I think, that this pieces will also look great with the the textures of your main sets (Alpine Set Stucco and Stonewall, Catfish Cove Brick Walls, Main Street Brick Walls)

Just wondering though, with having paths all the way up to the edges of the planters, this will mean the paths will go through them, and therefore wont we have peeps walking through them?

I'm not making the planter edges, just the terrain covers that go inside.

I thought you weren't doing scenery for awhile, or at all for your park.
I changed my mind. :p

It's a great idea and I would like to know, how did you manage it, that the texture of the ground is inside the planters.
I didn't come up with this idea. It's already been done in a few other sets. It's a standard feature in the Importer. Just set the mesh texture flag to "Terrain".

I know, you don't like request, but if you can make please also very small curved pieces, so that a whole ring of four curved piced just cover one tile in RCT3?

I can make a circular cover to match some of Cook's round shaft pieces, which are one tile wide.

waouh Shyguy !
do you create curved boardwalk to use with your main street CS ?
Do you mean a curved sidewalk? If so, no, I'm not making that.

Looking goooood Shyguy.

Just wondering though, with having paths all the way up to the edges of the planters, this will mean the paths will go through them, and therefore wont we have peeps walking through them?

Ry.
The only place the paths will go through is at the rounded corners, but you can solve that problem using path covers from other sets. Or, don't put them on paths at all, like in the pic below.

Will the pool pieces you are including be in this same wood fashion? I'd love if they were... I've been dying to do a woodland-themed waterpark ever since Villain Valley's Lost Boys Lagoon... these would be absolutely perfect to hide the ghastly in-game tiles with some style.

Very, very nice so far.... I don't know if I've said it in the past... but the current state of this forum reminds me to thank the CS creators that really put out quality stuff... (and put up with the nonsense in the forums, to boot)... so: your work is extremely appreciated.

It would be a huge project to make a versatile pool cover set. There is the NYR Pool Cover Set, which has a lot of pieces, but is still quite incomplete. All you can expect from this set is a couple flat pieces and some inclined ones. These are just to help blend in with the normal paths in my Water World park. Just check out Water World to see what I'm making.

If there is a simple piece you need, I might add it, but there are so many different shapes that you'd need to fit around the pools, that it's just something I'm not interested in attempting.

I think it would be not only easy for you, but useful for us, if you made peices to cover the square shaped pool. It would only require 2 different covers.

It would save doing the 100's of different shapes, and would slightly benefit us. I seriously hope someone isn't fussy enough to ask to much more of you.

By the way, since I haven't said it yet, I'm in love with your work, and your custom scenery. You do amazing things with everything available to you.

Those few pieces you made are more than enough to make it blend with your path covers, as you said, so this is just fine. I don't blame you for not wanting to get into making covers for every possible pool shape, because there are so many possibilities due to the four different types of pool tiles. This is why I didn't originally attempt this, as it would be pretty difficult, and not to mention probably a LOT of extra pieces that I wouldn't really use much myself. However, if I ever get to it, I may make a Pool Cover set 2 that will include these type of pieces and lazy rivers, but I digress. Looking good shyguy!:D

Looks great ShyGuy. But what about that notch on the top of each support, could it be gotten rid of to cut down on polys? Also the "fins" at the bottom of each post seems like this could be smoothed as well for poly reduction. I am no expert on this (being that I never made CS), but just my observations and ideas. This is just an idea, in the end this is your set and I am happy that you are willing to share it with all of us park builders.

Thank you for all your great sets! (We all need to say that more to CS builders.)

Based on ShyGuy's previous CS sets, I'm sure that he's very conscience about the poly counts. I think that the "notch" at the top of the supports works perfectly and don't lose the "fins" at the bottom... it makes the supports look more realistic.

I have a few questions though:

1.) Will there be a steep angled slope?
2.) Will there be any special supports for curves or helixes?
3.) Will you be making any additional pool path covers? (i.e. for the spiral staircase, ramps or mini steps)

There already is a "Pool Coverings" set out there but I'm liking yours a million times better!

Belive me, I am in no way questioning the genious of ShyGuy, but simply asking a question. The more I look at the pic I do like the fins on the bottom, makes them more unique and realistic. I was more just posing a question about the "notch" on the top, but I am wondering now if this is so that the CS does not poke through the bottom of the slide.

1) Yes, there will be fittings for steep slopes too.
2) No. Iceacts Curve Supports Set does the job perfectly.
3) No. I'm not making a pool cover set. I may make a couple other pool coverings, but certainly not a full set.

The notch serves an important job. You are correct, the cs pokes through the slide without it. Even if the support doesn't touch the slide, it stills shows through as you pan back. There would be pretty big gaps between the slide and the supports without the notches.
Even still, at certain angles and distances, you can still see the tops of the supports fading in and out. Another odd RCT3 glitch.

With these pieces, you should be able to replace the in-game supports of almost any waterslide design. I will add more if you find some missing after I release the beta for testing.

I have one question about the waterslides supports , and a request:

Question : I noticed ther also is a horizontal beam , how are we going to connect it to the upper parts that connect to the slide,

Request : Could you make an angled beam ( only a 45 degree no other angles ) + a wall footer , so we can connect slide to walls.

Thanks a lot,

It's meant to attach two vertical supports together for extra support.

Request : Could you make an angled beam ( only a 45 degree no other angles ) + a wall footer , so we can connect slide to walls.

A 45 degree beam should be no problem. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a wall footer. Do you want me to just turn the footer 90 degrees and put an L-support beam that can attach to all the top connector pieces? Not sure how realistic that would be.

yeah , that is exactly what i mean :D

And , just one question , i your set competible with Jcatts steeloworx / mouseworx ???
because then we can build like this : http://www.msj.co.uk/images/projects/Swan3.jpg

You don't Need to make it , i know how much work it is to import / reimport , and then have someone to say it's wrong .. but if it is compatible withs steel worx , it would give us 1.000.000.000 more options :D

And , just one question , i your set competible with Jcatts steeloworx / mouseworx ???

Nope. It's not compatible at all. None of his supports line up right with the waterslides. That's why I made my own set in the first place.

I needed the next set of pieces for my Water World park, so they'll be available too.

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6169/bridges1ak3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I don't have plans to make a complete set of pool covers. These will at least add a little variety to the paths. Sorry. There's not much I can do about the existing ramp rails.

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/5263/bridges2sc8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
These pieces are made to fit 2 ramps running parallel together to make it look like a bridge. You're still stuck with the original ramp supports, but it looks a lot better, nonetheless.

Ok, first of all.... its ICEATCS!!

Secondly.... This looks AWESOME man, i'm loving this new set and custom work!! Finally some attention is being made to the aqua park aspect of the game... I love the supports Shyguy, they look great and cutsie! One thing, like in the pic michielh3 posted, there's a thin 45 degree pole (or more realistically, steel cable) which connects the two end footers together to give it more rigidity since as we know some water slides out there DO tend to rock and sway slightly when in use.
Love the new path sets! It's such a shame about the vanilla path railing in game, we should have the option to turn them off like we can for queue lines. But you could maybe design a new fence that covers it up? like make the handrail 0.5 the height of the catfish set or make it double tiered... (if that makes sense)

Keep up the great work.

Sorry Nethero, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that first pic. First of all, that slide looks way too rickety and I'm not sure if I'd even go on it. Secondly, that slide is just one big helix which Iceatcs' Custom Slide Supports have been made for. That second pic is a mess and not quite sure why you posted it other than to show how "other" supports look. Frankly, I love what ShyGuy is doing with his.

They're 3D ribs...which makes these rooves a little polygon heavy. Especially the Spire. So use sparinigly if you have a low-end computer.

To my knowledge the walls are made by Pyro- or Coasterfreak (We have really a lot of "freaks" here :p). Check the Water World Trhread (since the announcement of "Atlantia Beach Landing"). Shyguy mentioned it in this thread.

I used pieces from several sets to create the Beach House. Most, like the door frames on the tower, are from Main Street Set 2. Coasterfreak's House Specials provide the framework pieces above the doorways. Das Matze Industry Set provides the sheetmetal inside the framework pieces.

Maybe I missed it, but is there a peak for the roofs? It would be really helpful. Also, on the roofs, a LOD that takes away the 3D ribs would make them look much better for people who can't use anti-aliasing. It looks like this (http://aycu10.webshots.com/image/26129/2004406325765002048_rs.jpg) from far away.

Weathered railings, path, and bridge covers.

All the wooden path covers in the beta set all look very new (and dark). So here are some colorable, lighter, more weathered looking covers. The Railings are an exact duplicate of the Catfish Cove ones, except with the new, lighter color.

How to cover the Dirt Track elevated paths with the new, weathered pieces...

It sure blends in with the path piece nicely, but You've been dealing with the path pieces a little too much. I want to see something different. Also I'm not downloading until you confirm that the set is complete.

Thanks for adding the angled clapboard walls! I have always felt that those pieces were missing from your Main Street sets, because I like using those clapboard walls, but could never make every kind of wall/roof system with them, but now I can!

Shyguy, do you always have the shadows turned off?

Shyguy, do you always have the shadows turned off?
Lately I've been keeping them off. There are many reasons for this. First off, shadows don't work on custom paths. They also don't work on the in-game pool tiles. But the main reason I'm leaving them off now, is I'm sinking plants below the surface of the beach so it just looks like a little grass is growing here and there. But with shadows on, you see big, round shadows at each spot, making it look terrible. So I'm keeping the shadows off for this park.

I just thought of a quick suggestion. I know that you have the catfish code set, but maybe you could always make some fence covers for the ugly ones that come on the in-game pool tiles. Is that possible?

I'm not requesting or anything, but I thought it could be helpful for you and I just want to know if its even possible (I'm guessing that it is, but who knows)

shyguy

It's possible, but it would be a big project, one I don't have any interest in doing. If they really bothered me, I might tackle it. But they don't.

How about recolorable wodden path covers similiar to the stair covers? (if I didn't notice them yet)

shyguy
09-08-2007, 02:03 AM
Yes. There are recolorable wooden path covers and gentle slope covers to match the recolorable stairs. (see post 210)

Do you use DasMatze's Measuring block to make pieces fit exactly ver the in-game ones?
If you don't, it's very handy. It's in his Utility's pack.

This is the first time I've seen this thread. Don't know how I missed it before. All I can say is: "Wow, very nice work. I'm most impressed." It is a pity that covering all pool paths would be an extremely daunting and difficult task because I have been to many pools that use wood decking for raised walk spaces. Would (wood?) be nice to have that option. I really enjoy your work, thanks for making it available. (I don't need any CS, cause my life doesn't revolve around it, but it is nice to have options.)

I would really like them , yeah !

But you don't need to rush pieces because some like me requests them , i was just wondering how the pool parts where going , or if anything new was done.

No presure there :p

i got a little request how aboult upword curved peices. theres one prob with the supports they show through the slide pending on it.(curved steep to 25 digrea angle thing.) i did find manny uses for the slide hey they suport that bowl slide good:D.

keep it up or else:mad:;)

shyguy
09-12-2007, 06:19 PM
The next thing I'm going to do is add any slide supports that are missing. To fully understand which support is needed, posting a detailed photo with the name of the slide pieces (small curve, gentle slope, something like that) written on the photo will help.

Keep in mind that several of the supports I made can be used in more than one place. Not just the piece that I labelled them for.

ok i see now like you can use them as stair supports stuff like that? any ways ill be waiting till a new update

shyguy

No. I mean one might be labeled Steep Slope Crest, but maybe it will work on a Gentle Slope Bottom. Something like that...
