I just started a new set. It will contain laser beams in various sizes and angles. This lasers have some characterictics:
While they are invisible at daytime (http://www.LupiUpload.de/080902/MqOGdCRp.jpg), they shine bright at night (http://www.LupiUpload.de/080902/WerHDhz.jpg). They are recolorable, but on the wall in the background (http://www.LupiUpload.de/080902/BiljruMn.jpg) you can see, they don't light anything up. This makes them perfect for darkrides. While placing - and only then - there is a triangle (http://www.LupiUpload.de/080902/rTnVKbWG.jpg) visible (but only under a flat viewing angle). The long edge of this triangle is the laserbeam. This the invisible triangle has to be clicked to delete the beam, which sadly is not easy. Another important characteristic: Like you can see on this last picture (http://www.LupiUpload.de/080902/jnoD6UIl.jpg), they are fully transparent.

I hope you like the pictures. As I'm doing my work, different to many other creators, not for me but for you, I need a lot of feedback, so please post you suggestions.

P.S.: The set was just started (one object now) and will take some more weeks, so don't ask for a release date.

That is a very excellent idea! I hope to see more of this! I have nothing as far as suggestions, I was going to suggest to be recolorable but know I read more closely and see you have already said that!

Very clever idea! I see how you've done this. But what exactly are the lasers themselves? If they only show at night, are they some form of lights?

You don't see anything ;) because I didn't used the particle effect setting. I tried, but then nothing was visible. It's just a light - or have you ever seen a laser being something else then a light? ;)

Ah right, I was thinking of too complicated methods you might have done this.

No, it's very simple. I just took 40 (took really long ;)) light effect points for doing this. And a triangle with an alpha-texture.

This is a cool idea.

Won't that cause lag on lower end systems?

I thought of this, but I don't think so. You see, every piece has only one poly, so there are no poly problems. And (I wrote this in the first post) nothing is lit by them (simple lights - no shine, only bulbs), so I don't think this will cause problems.

Nice job. Is that 100 fps I'm seeing?

errt

Yes, it is. But it's a completely empty park on a good PC ;)

Hmph, with my computer, it can be completely empty and only run at 30 fps at the lowest settings. Damn dell, I can't even replace the parts.

Oh, it's a Dell-PC, too ;)

And not let's stop offtopic, please.

If you need a low-end PC tester, I'll do it.

@Maverick: Perhaps I'll take up on this, if I need someone.

I made two new pieces. On the left side of the picture you see an angled version and on the right in the background a diagonal one. The piece in the foreground is the known horizontal piece.

How far do the lasers travel from their point of origin? (EG, quater tile, half tile, single tile, two tiles?)

errt

Quarter Tile with Quarter Tile Placement. There won't be bigger lasers as I would have to make thousands of effect points for this. You see, the diagonal one already has 56! and the diagonal angled ones will have even more. You can calculate yourself, how many points would be needed for full oder even two tile lasers. It will be no problem to put two together to get a longer one. Perhaps I'll post a picture of this in the next update, but on the third pic in the first post you already see two lasers combined: The red one is build out of two.

Doing that too much would cause flashing, I think.

Nope, no flashing. There's no shine, you can see this in the third picture if you look at the wall. Only the shine causes flashing.

After nearly a week, I've got a new piece for you. I know it's not much, but it shows I'm still working on the set. And the pieces are no big deal, but they are time-comsuming, as they need that much effect points. The new piece is an angled one, 2H. But I have to re-do this piece and the diagonal one from the last update, as there's a a little error when putting two of them together. But now the picture:

^On the right side the new one, on the left the old to compare.

great! How did you do that(invisible at daytime and visible at night)? But I think it might be difficult when I create it.

※100FPS... I've never seen the FPS level that high! My highest FPS level is just 17...... How fast is your computer?

It's very easy. But I don't want you to copy it, so it's irrelevant if it was difficult for you ;)

What PCs do you all have? I've got a normal Dell-PC: Intel Core 2 Duo, GeForce 6800, 512MB Ram...

My RAM is double of yours.
CPU:Celeron D 3.2GHz
VGA card: miserable
My CPU is better than before. But VGA cad is worse than before. Because I changed my computer.
