This game is an EPIC failure. I can't believe I've been waiting since the winter of '06 for Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics.

Okay sure... so there's no multi classing. No long player character names. Hardly any avatars. You can't import custom ones. And there's no real impact of being a chaotic evil, or lawful good character (unless you're a Paladin.) This all sucks the fun out of character creation.
Then there's... the awfully cluttered menu system. Moving from location to location is nearly pointless. Either present the user with more art, or with more text. Having windows on either side with crammed in text that I have to scroll through is beyond any reasoning.
Let's not forget... equipping and trading items between a large party is a very tedious process. The game doesn't help you out when you're trying compare items. You have to sort through text and memorize or write down stats. You can't just dump your items into a pile and sort through them. Instead, you have to trade them in between players.
Or how about my favorite.. the bugs! Holly Aunt Jemima!! The game is filled with mistakes that shouldn't be there in the first place. So, let's say we auto select a feat during a level up or character build. BUT, I want to go back and select it myself. Hmm. Weird. The names and descriptions aren't in the correct spots. Then there's the psychic warrior skill bug. The weird $eror lulz messages that pop up here and there.
BUT, the biggest god damn failure of this game is the CAMPAIGN. The story is a freaking joke. The player can't interact with people, the dialog is set. It doesn't matter if your a chaotic evil half-orc, or a lawful good elf; everyone you meet tells you the same ****.

AND GUESS WHAT. When you finish, that's IT. You can't save your characters and play the game through again. NOPE. You're all done buddy. Can't play a multiplayer game with a friend, can't do **** with all the time you've invested.

Say good bye to your characters!

How hard would it be to put in a dungeon generator? Untold Legends, A RELEASE GAME, had a map generator.

Or how about a dungeon creator?

What the hell was Atari doing from the winter of '06 (and probably before that date,) untill it was released?

Oh, and hey, BlackFireAtreyu. I don't care about what you have to say. :noob:

PS: Anyone interested in a class action lawsuit?

I have considered the game not worth playing and have shelved it. When my Dwarf character stated that she needed a torch because "she likes it bright" I almost upchucked.

So they implemented a lighting system, and then disregarded infravision for character races? Where's the adventuring aspect?

Atari would have done batter to have simply updated the graphics on the original POOL OF RADIANCE by SSI. This game isn't D&D.

A much better turn based game in a similar genre for the PSP would be Lord of the Rings Tactics. It's a shame ATARI had the liscence for D&D, EA would have done a better D&D game.

He he, yeah just put him on ignore, it's all the rage :)

Anyhow, yeah I'm pretty upset with not being able to save the characters. We were supposed to be able to save charcters, trade them, use them online, pvp etc but apparently all you can do is play though a campaign and then boom, that's it, they are stuck there in that saved game.

They must have bumped this game back half a dozen times at least, you would think with all that extra time they could have at least added the features they claimed would be in the game.

As per a lawsuit, that stuff never works. I'm sure the game box shows none of those features that didnt' make it in. Basically they can say whatever they want to pre-release as long as the package you buy is accurate they are safe.

Not sure about other arguments you have with the game, but Dwarfs can see in the dark better then humans. When you click a dwarf or elf it's like night and day over a human in the dark.

It is a good game if you have ever played PnP. Sure it has it's downsides, but to call it an EPIC failure is overstating it. I am still enjoying the game and lol at all the haters. And leave poor BlackFire alone man. He is just defending his overall joy for D&D in general.

lmao. wow, what's all that about? I've only defended myself, my friends on the forum, and the game, i never asked for or started a fight intentionally. Ah well, If I have a reputation for defending the game, then I'm proud of it, even if it may be a bit more animated or intense then needed. SOMEONE has to..

Seriously, I'd let all its faults slide... IF it had included a dungeon generator and the ability to save your character(s).

and maybe if they refunded my money and fixed the ****ing glitches and mistakes in this game

I guess the ability to save the world doesn't count for anything these days ...

Its odd but the opriginal advertisement i read for this game which had screen shots....said you would be able to make characters and play them with your friends. it would have 4 to 16 player support...and also would have downloadable content. It also said it had the 3.5 rules and psionics something no other dungeons and dragons game has.(Thats actualy wrong since i have some with psionics in it) and it also goes on to tell you that you will be able to play your favorite class and prestige classes.

So anywise...given all that...i suspect there will be downloadable content...hopefully it wont cost...becasue...i wont buy it.

But also i think that there may be some form of editor or something released to make some of the stuff possible.

I mean i have had i don't know maybe 4 or 5 character creator programs for dungeons and dragons and plethora of dungeons and dragons games....and every single one has had an editor for it or a way to add to it or edit things.

So....maybe i am too hopeful...but with the way Atari does things...i think they may have some things in mind for this game.

Maybe not....i hope they do....they would be insane to not expand this game.

Heck if they wanted to make huge dollars they should come out with more dnd tactics adventures and such with every so often putting out some new version that will expand the old ones but offer different things.

And also allow players to keep the old data...so they can keep playing if they want....
I mean...Atari could not have possibly ignored the success of Neevr Winter Nights...or some certain American MMMORPG company and there huge success with their free content updates.

Ahh well...maybe its all just my own wishful thinking.

Well I'm pretty dissapointed with the game too. A combination of laziness and lack of time is what made this game pretty bad. The things the developers decided not to include from the 3.5 ruleset is unforgivable. I think part of the problem is it's a game on the PSP.

And no developers (hardly any) take PSP seriously. If they were capable of making a great game they would have done it for a home system which would bring in more money. As it is PSP games are either console ports or cheap thrown together games.

I had hopes for this game, but really they stripped it down so much that it would only pass as a game on the PSP. And really the bugs in the game are plain wrong. There should be quality and control, and I think Sony has to look after it's PSP reputation. I'm beginning to wonder if the PSP was a mistake to buy.
