The oldest coaster I've ever ridden would probably be Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City. It turned 35 this year.

I have ridden:
1st oldest - Leap The Dips (1902)
3rd oldest - Rutschebanen, Tivoli Gardens (1914)
5th oldest (joint) - Scenic Railway, Margate (1920)
5th oldest (joint) - Jack Rabbit, Seabreeze (1920)

By the way - The 4th oldest is the Wild One at Six Flags America - it was moved there in 1985 but was originally built in 1917 as the Giant Coaster at Paragon Park.

My fiancee and I can claim Wild One at SFAmerica as our oldest coaster. We've also ridden several coasters that are over 30 years old... Space Mountain at WDW, for example, or Loch Ness Monster at BGE for another example.

Was it rough? I rode it a bit after it reopened, and it wasn't bad at all.

I also rode it shortly after it reopened, and it wasn't rough at all. I rode it again a couple of years later, and it had gotten quite a bit rougher, and looked like it wasn't being maintained as well as it should be, especially after so much money was put into restoring it.

Well, unless it's the Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park, in which case Geauga Lake's Big Dipper is still older, but only by 13 years. :D

For reference:
Geauga Lake's Big Dipper: 1925
Conneaut Lake's Blue Streak: 1938
Cedar Point's Blue Streak: 1964

The Comet at Great Escape was relocated from Crystal Beach, and was originally built in 1948 (less than 60 years ago - a mere youngun!). The Comet used part of the old Cyclone's structure (built in 1926) but is so different from the Cyclone to not be considered the same ride in any shape or form.

Oldest coaster I have ridden is Europe`s oldest working coaster,Rutschebanen at Tivoli Gardens.I really like it,and it actually was born in my home-city!

Rutschebanen:
Built for Baltic Fair in Malmö,Sweden 1914
Relocated to Tivoli Gardens 1915

I'm just wondering... where did you get your information? Wikipedia indicated the following status for the past three years:

2005: The Leap-The-Dips is suffering from old age, as mechanical problems kept it closed for all but two weeks of the 2005 season. The wood supports for the side friction rails often needed to be replaced, and during its brief operation several cars stalled out, unable to gain enough momentum to finish.

2006: A notable year for the Leap-The-Dips, with people waiting in long lines to ride it throughout the season. Few car-stalling problems occurred, although a few wood supports did need to be fixed or replaced.

2007: The Leap-The-Dips remains fully operational, and attracts riders both young and old. The track was changed so that the cars move faster, enhancing the strain on the beams and also the psychological sense of danger associated with riding the world's oldest wooden roller coaster.

Forgive me, but you need to read with a bit more care. About Luna Park's Scenic Railway, it says,

The iconic "Mr Moon" gateway (1912, restored 1999), the Scenic Railway (1912) which is the oldest continually-operating roller coaster in the world, and the carousel (1913 restored 2000) are all heritage registered.

The key phrase in there is "continually-operating." Leap The Dips was shut down from 1985 to 1999, when a completed $1,000,000 restoration allowed the 1902 coaster to resume operations. So, Leap The Dips is older than Luna Park's Scenic Railway, but it was shut down for quite a few years due to falling into disrepair, hence it was not continually operating.

Thank God, considering the Cyclone had it's own nursing staff.

According to my park map (yes, I collect them), it says something along the lines of "Help Six Flags Great Escape celebrate the 80th birthday of the comet." It is the smoothest woodie i've ever ridden :10sur10: so it probably isn't that old. It still is a great coaster, to bads it's in the worst coaster park ever:mad:.
