This can be the official thread for the Tower of Terror/Hollywood Boulevard at Walt Disney Studios, Paris.
Share your thoughts about the new additions here, or post some of the latest construction photos :)
I'll start by posting this picture comparing the Paris Tower to the Californian Tower so far:

I hope it's better than the California version. Like the Japanese version, the French version is said to have a custom storyline.

It will still have The Twilight Zone theme, but I think the story might be slightly different. I've also heard that the narration whilst you are travelling up the elevator shaft will be in French. I would actually prefer it to be in French - It would sound so much spookier! :D

I know that would be pretty spooky. Hopefully I can make it out to Paris and ride it someday soon.

Besides the language and some structural changes, there will be no difference. The Japenese version was only different because they have different ghostly beliefs there and California was only different from MGM because the imagineers didn't like how MGM turned out and California is a lot more simple. Plus, you never know when the drops will start unless you have ridden California many times.

Why weren't they pleased with ToT at MGM?

and California is a lot more simple.
Simple isn't always better..I would ride MGM Studios' version over the Anaheim version any day.

Oo wowzers! I look forward to this!
I haven't ridden it in about 4/5 years so I don't know what state it is in now, but a refurbishment couldn't hurt. The whole new Ghost host sounds ace, and I was hoping I could hear it for myself without going down to Florida.

For those who can't speak French and Don't understand what this means here is what it says.
“You open this door with the key of imagination, beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of spirit. You transfer to an umber and the substance, things and ideas. You crossed just over in. . . The Zone of the twilight. Hollywood, 1939. Among foil and the flutter of a affairer the young talent of film to the height of its golden age, the Hotel of Turn of Hollywood was a star in its own line. A signal for the elite of show businesses. Now, something is about to arrive that will change all that. Time is now, over one evening much as one we observed just. This evening the history on the Zone of the twilight is a little single and calls a kind different of introduction. This, as you can recognize, is an elevator of service of maintenance, calm in the operation, you wait. We invite you, if you dare, to walk on board because in this evening the episode you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to… the Zone of the twilight. “

I've seen the list of the 'need to dos' and one of them was a new 'Ghost Host'. I read about it from this (http://www.distantcreations.com/blog/2007/08/24/imagineers-testing-wdws-haunted-mansion-with-guests/) article, but from what I read it doesn't seem to be completely working, yet.

Yup, I wrote that! :) I sent that to the Sir! :D Yayness people read it! Well, the Imagineers were only there to test the sound, to get that right.
And here's the English!
"You unlock this door with the key of imagination, beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into...The Twilight Zone.
Hollywood, 1939. Amidst the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie talent at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.
The time is now, on an evening very much like the one we have just witnessed. Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a maintenance service elevator, still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you, if you dare, to step aboard because in tonight's episode you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to...The Twilight Zone."

What Disney Kingdom are you talking about? The only one I know is all the way across the country and is called the Magic Kingdom.:weird: If you are talking about the Disney Parks in general I find it equivilant if not better.:D Besides, Anaheim Disneyland Resort does Halloween and single-rider lines. I think he means the way the whole entrance is presented, and yes it does look ten times better than the one in calafornia due to the fact that it blends in with studio 1, and the earful tower.

The rest of the ride was quite fine. They especially like T4 because of its randomness. They were also able to try a new architectural style with Anaheim.
It;s not that the imagineers didn't like it, in fact, they really like it. But the 5th dimension caused the most problems with the vehicles, breakdowns, etc.

Sorry you don't trust Screamscape... but the mention of a soft open in early December is from Disney Paris. Follow the link in the post below your last post, and read the forum over there. They have copied a release from Disney talking about the early soft open.
Now, I've been told it's not a copy of the WDW TOT, but they mention in that forum that there's a 5th dimension room... so is it a copy or not? Does it have a 5th dimension room?

10-03-2007, 01:52 AM
It copies the California one, which instead of a hallway that the elevator passes through, there is a mirror that you say goodbye to the real world and are transported to the fifth dimension by turning into ghosts. It's pretty trippy the first time you see it, although simple. Also, this one and California's are a lot more violent in the shaking department I have heard.

I know someone on another forum who has already ridden Tower Of Terror at DLRP. They said it was absolutely amazing - The best ride there. They said the only slight downside was that the narration was all in French. But apparently a system is going to be introduced where the Cast Members can choose which language will be used before each ride - English or French :D This would be great!

Very, very regular, with all three shafts. So, unfortunately, the pictures of operating shafts are not centred on the correct one, as I didn't know which would work next. I'm pleased to say the sound effects could be heard outside as well.

I don't think it needs this extra coat of paint. I thought it looked very good as it was, now I think it's starting to look slightly unrealistic :(

While the pictures aren't entirely clear (just take my word for it), whilst at the park on Monday, journalists were taken up into the tower of terror for proper testing! You could hear the sound effects across most of the park, and screams.

You guys are so lucky! You have the best RnR, Mission 2, Phantom Manor, and now this! Although if it is like DCA's, it will cower to MGM's and DisneySea's. But the exterior literally looks IDENTICAL to DCA's, except for some parts, like the lower building. Trust me, I would know. :p

Yeah, the lobby does seem a little too large, perhaps it could just be the fact that it's two-dimensional pics we're looking at, they seem to distort things. Of course you never really know.

RnR is awsome in Paris, but at least DHS's has a story! SMM2 does rule, Phantom Manor is amazing, I'll also point out how fantastic Pirates is!! Did you know that DCA's was originally planned for Paris? But they decided to put it in DCA because of falling attendance for DCA and price cuts for Paris (if I'm correct).

True, although is that BBC America? We had 'abc1' for a while here, but that seems to have dissappeared! We can also get things like CNN and Fox News etc. But they're certainly won't be reporters! :p Hehe

Pirates was built before there was any mention of a Paris Disneyland. They were still building Disney World at the time. I think you mean Tower of Terror. It was originally meant to be a Jules Verne ride in Discovery Mountain. The book was Journey to the Center of the Earth, then they scrapped it due to excavation costs and much later it was brought to MGM and was reformatted to a drop in an elevator instead of a drop into the earth.

Read again, properly Sir!! I was saying how good Paris' Pirates is, and then went on to talk about TOT, I didn't make that terribly clear, I do apologise. And yes, it was going to be part of DM (have you read Disneyland Paris From Sketch to Reality? a wonderful book! There are still many "DM"s around the ride today!) I was saying how DCA's TOT was originally planned to be at WDS, and they quickly changed their minds. :)

I know this thread hasn't been posted in for a bit, but I have now ridden the Tower Of Terror at Walt Disney Studios and would just like to say what I thought of it. :)
I'll seperate my review into sections:
The exterior
First of all, this tower is huge! It definitely looks bigger when you're there! I thought the tower was very detailed, although it didn't really look that spooky. The destroyed part of the hotel is probably the most realitic of all the tower's in the world. Also, it looks fantastic at night!
The queue
The outside part of the queue is fairly dull. It just zig zags a few times. However I didn't have to queue long at all, most of the time we pretty much walked on.
The lobby
Absolutely brilliant! Very detailed, and old-looking! I especially like the little details such as an unfinished cards game and hats and coats that were left there back in 1939.
The preshow
Most of the time the preshow was in French. However I did get an English preshow a couple of times. I thought the details in here were good. I quite like the window with flashes of lightning outside.
The boiler room
One of my favourite parts of the hotel. I like the way that it is on two floors, it makes it very atmospheric and mysterious. My favourite detail in here was a chalk circle drawn on the wall with the sound of a girls voice coming from it - This was a reference to one of the Twilight Zone episodes, and it was quite spooky!
The ride
Extremely fun! Although a bit scary on your first go! The narration comes in either French or English, and I got each about half of the times of rode it.
I liked the mirror scene a lot - I prefered it to the Fifth Dimenson scene of the Orlando ToT. It didn't slow down the story and was just generally a really cool effect! I found it quite funny how everybody screamed when the elevator shook!
The corridor scene was also good. I like the way the room fades away just leaving the elevator doors with the five people inside. Also I loved the little details such as newspapers outside the rooms!
The drop sequence was FANTASTIC! You get so much airtime on this thing! The first drop is so unexpected and even though it's only one storey, it still makes your stomach go! My favourite drop is where it goes up and then straight down again without stopping - I was floating in the air for about 3 seconds! I also like the final drop from the top to the bottom.
The bellhops
These guys were amazing! They really added a lot to the ride. I have three favourites at the moment, Bastien, Greg and Kevin - Each of these three put in a bit more effort than the others and made the experience extra fun, espcially Bastien! :)
Overall
This is the best thing that has happened at Disneyland Resort Paris since it opened! I'm sure it will help them alot! I prefer it to the Orlando ToT, and if the DCA ToT is really the same as this one then I want to go to California right now. :p
