I plan on taking a trip to Cedar Point in a few years, and I was wondering what the cheapest way to get there would be from Atlanta. Driving is out of the question for now. Any advice?

In a few years?

Atlanta is where I would be going from.
And yes, I want to go in a few years, I'm not old enough to go by myself at my age.
Plus, It would be WAY to expensive too go with more then one person.

Yeah, but it's not fun going to amusement parks without any friends or family there with you.

Flights or trains would be your options, I guess.

None of my family would want to come, they don't like roller coasters.:(

Cedar Point is not all coasters. They have tons of things to do. It is awesome.

Well.. if you can't drive, might as well forget it.
Plane tickets + Car Rental + Tickets + Hotel is much more then just driving up from Atlanta.
Best find another way. ;)

In reality, driving seems like your best option.
Possibly take a plane up, but that doesn't seem like it's within your budget.
Walk?

Wait untill you're older, grab some friends and go on a road trip. Your friends could then help pay for gas.

You could always walk or run. We need a real-life Forrest Gump! :p
oh and...
Yeah, but it's not fun going to amusement parks without any friends or family there with you.
I never go with anyone, as none of my friends are big Theme Park fans. They would fall asleep while I ride the same thing over and over.

I guess I'll just wait till I'm 18, grab some friends, and then hit the road. WOO, ROAD TRIP!
Of course, I need a car first....

You could always try for something like a Greyhound bus. I know there used to be a terminal near Cedar Point when I worked at the park. I don't know if it is still there.
As for going to the parks alone... I prefer going with a friend, but most of my "Coaster Cruises" were solo efforts. Those trips involved 2 weeks of road tripping between amusement parks, often visiting 20-40 parks and riding 70-100 different coasters. While I've got quite a few friends (and now a wife), I don't have any who are quite up to going at my pace! :D
Isn't a few years a bit early to be planning? still like everyone else has said, car or last min return plane would work if ya got it very cheap :p
On the "If you go to a theme park on ya own it's no fun" note, I disagree, I went AT o my own, noone wanted to go and it was possibly the best day I'd EVER had there, not only was everything big walk on, but noone was complaining and whining about what to go on :D it's great fun.

I have decided to go by Greyhound bus. I could go for only about 100 bucks, round trip. The two day park and waterpark ticket is about 70 dollars, and the hotal is 60. Add in about 50 bucks for food, and I could take a trip for only 280 bucks! I think I could afford that.

One additional thing you should consider... how do you plan on getting to the park? Pedestrians are not allowed on the Cedar Point Causeway.
From downtown Sandusky, there is the Cedar Point Ferry. It costs a couple of bucks. But, you would need to be within walking distance of the ferry docks, so you'd want to be careful about your hotel choice.
I don't know of any hotels with shuttles, but that's another option to consider. You would need to check with your hotel to see if they might have a shuttle to either the park or the ferry dock.

I was going to stay at Breakers Express. Doesn't that have direct access to the park?

No Breakers Express is not locasted on the peninsula, but around 2 miles from it. Hotel Breakers is located on the beach and is supperrrrrrrrrrr easy walking distance from the park,(It has its own entrance. :) )

Breakers Express is located on the Cedar Point Causeway. It is the closest hotel to The Point without actually being on The Point. Pedestrians are not permitted on the Causeway, however, and the hotel does not have a shuttle to the park.
Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites, and the cabins and cottages at Lighthouse Point are the only hotel accommodations where walking directly to the park is an option. All three of those are on The Point. However, all three are rather expensive. If you've got multiple people splitting the costs, the cabins and cottages are probably the most cost-effective of the on-Point options.
Oh, Ziggles... just as an FYI... Cedar Point is not actually on an island. It's a peninsula. The Cedar Point Chausee (also known as Cedar Point Drive) runs along the length of the peninsula on the northern edge. The Chausee is not the same as the Causeway.

How far would I have to walk to get to a shuttle to get me to the park?

Offhand, I don't know of any public shuttles. However, I was just looking at the City of Sandusky website, and it talks about a shuttle service. You might want to take a look at it here: http://www.ci.sandusky.oh.us/community-dev/sts-vehicles.htm
According to the site, it runs from 6 AM to 10 PM Monday through Friday, and 6 AM to 6 PM on Saturday. It does not run on Sunday. It appears to be an "on-demand" service -- you call to schedule a pickup. The number for scheduling rides is 419-627-0740.
I've never used it, so I don't know if it could take you from Breakers Express to Cedar Point, but it might be worth giving them a call in order to find out.

Hotel Breakers looks like a good deal if I'm only there for one night.

If it's only 2 miles from CP, a taxi would be quite inexpensive...

Even if your friends or family all of a sudden said, "oh sounds like a good idea" then you might want to drive. If your excluding getting there you might want to think about tickets. I think general admission is $55 [correct me if I'm wrong] and twilight is $25 [I know I got that one]. If your staying long it's good to buy a season pass. Or get a hotel package [If your staying at a Cedar Point hotel] I went with my parents in July and it ended up about $800 [Hotel, Parking, Some cupons, 3 1 day tickets, and 3 Twilight.] But Gas, Food, Extra Tix, and Arcade is not included.

You're going to Ceder Point (http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=ceder+point&FORM=ADDLVD&src={referrer:source?})? Cool. No idea about your question though.

I knew that :) I just don't read what I right!

I'm from the area... and I've some info if need be:
There are PLENTY of hotels in the area that offer a free shuttle to the park. The further away you are from the park, generally, the cheaper the room is, as well. And, the hotels that offer shuttles are plentiful. Simply start looking for hotels in the area that you can afford on your budget... go to their website and/or call them and ask if they offer a shuttle to the park. I know that the Comfort Inn right off the causeway on Cleveland Rd. has a free shuttle, and a Holiday Inn Express out on Rte 250 also has the famous 'trolly shuttle'.
First time to the park, I presume? Plan on spending 2-3 days to see everything and ride everything... especially depending on when you plan to come. The two weeks following opening weekend are the absolute best 'early season' times to come. Weekdays preferably. Virtually no lines at all, walk on everything and enjoy it at a leisurely pace... and then spend a day power-riding to your hearts content. (The urge is to power ride day one... trust me, you'll be dead the next day! It's a LOT of walking and it'll take a lot out of you)
The next best time to come is the weekend we're in right now. The first "Bonus Weekend" following Labor Day. Kids are back in school and crowds are thin. Friday night has limited ride availability, and shorter hours... but you can ride CP's finest multiple times in one night, and hit up what you missed the next day when there's a bit larger crowd (but more rides open to spread it out) and still have time to re-ride your favorites over and over.
I always planned on having access to around $100 on my person for each day trip to the park (Before I lived here, now that's a bit different). It was a good amount for food, maybe a souvenir or two... things get expensive inside the park gates, remember that...
But, getting here.. your best bet is grouping up a friend or 3 (travel in even numbers, obviously for riding situations) and road trip up here. Hope ya make it!

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to look up the hotels you mentioned.
By the way, Have you ever been to Six Flags Over Georgia?

I've been to SFoG, twice. I don't remember much about the first time -- it was many years ago.
The second time was the one and only time I've left a park feeling angry about the pathetic operations. I would have complained at Guest Services, but the line for that was longer than for many of the rides, and most of the people in that line looked very unhappy.
It might just have been a remarkably bad day for the park, but the response to my complaint letter was not particularly promising.
