Just booked today! I'm going 22nd - 30th December 2008! Staying in the Paradise Pier Hotel. But flying from Heathrow! :( Oh well...matters not!
My first visit to a state that isn't Florida! Hopefully California will be up to my expectations! :p
I plan to go on the 'A Walk in Walt's Footsteps' Tour, but what I'd like to know, are there any restaurants I shouldn't miss? I took loads of reccomendations for my WDW Trip, and I didn't have one bad meal. In fact, they were all amazing!
Only 472 days to go! :D
The Paradise Pier Hotel, eh?
I can't remember that one. :p
Have fun, heh. :)

are there any restaurants I shouldn't miss?
It's been awhile since I've eaten there, but one of my favorite restaurants was the revolving restaurant at The Land in EPCOT.
It's been a very long time since I've eaten in Cinderella's Castle. I think it was something like King Stephan's Feast when I last ate there, and it is now Cinderella's Royal Table. Anyway, it was expensive, but fabulous.
Oh, forgot one... at MGM, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre is a fun place to eat.

That's Disneyland I'm going to :) Rather than Walt Disney World. I'll make a note of it! ;)

Whoops, sorry.
In that case, don't miss Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant over at Knott's Berry Farm. Best chicken I've ever eaten, and it's only about 3 miles from Disneyland!

You really should've booked a room at the Grand Californian over the Paradise Pier Hotel. Much nicer accomodations plus your very own entrance to California Adventure!
I don't quite remember the restaurants at Disneyland, sorry. In fact, after eating at WDW you'll probably be disappointed with Disneyland food. :noob:

You will like Disneyland California a lot. You will also like California a lot as well. One thing about L.A. is that it has bad air and a lot of traffic most of the time. I know you will have a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy your stay in California (since I live there during the summer).

I may or may not be going to Knotts! :p But if I go, I will certainly visit that!

That would have been nice, but various reasons prevented my from staying there.

I do hope so! I can't wait! :D Even though it's quite a while yet! :p

California might not be as magnificent as you might picture it. I haven't been in 5 years, but unless things have changed. The Air Quality isn't the greatest, especially if you visit LA. Hollywood isn't the biggest thing ever, but I would recommend going to Universal Studios if you can, and taking the back lot tour (name I forget, but they take you on a tour of the surrounding movie areas if I'm not mistaken).
Disneyland is fun, I almost pretty much grew up in that park when I lived there (well until I moved when I was 6-7).
Have fun!

You're going to do two Disney resorts in one year, you lucky! I went last in 2001 or so and from what I remember it wasn't as good as Florida IMO. 'Soaring over California' is a ride not to be missed, same goes with the Indy ride.

I'll probably be staying around the DLR/Knotts area. But I don't expect that much really :p

I'm not actually! I'm going in 2008! Although I'm going to try and nag my parents into agreeing to pop down to DLRP to ride TOT and Crush's Coaster!

That is what I get for being a selective reader eh. I've never been to a theme park round Christmas time, and knowing how Disney goes all out, it should be a blast! Pretty weird though, waking up on Christmas morning and having to put sun cream on :(

Some information that I hope is helpful... Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant is not IN Knott's Berry Farm. Instead, it's ADJACENT TO the park. In other words, you don't need a ticket to the park in order to enjoy Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner.
The restaurant is part of the strip of stores known as Knott's Marketplace, located next to the entrance of Knott's Berry Farm. In addition to the chicken dinner restaurant, there are some nice shops in the Marketplace. Those shops also do not require admission to Knott's Berry Farm. It wouldn't surprise me if Knott's Marketplace was part of the inspiration for the Downtown Disney areas.
One caution: there is often a long line for Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant, so I recommend getting there early to avoid the wait. It is also possible to do carry-out -- next door to the restaurant is the Mrs. Knott's Carry-Out -- same chicken, shorter wait!

It's time someone in this thread post some in-park meals. Adjacent to the exit of Pirates is the Blue Bayou which you may have to reserve in the morning because it becomes popular. It doesn't open until noon but hey, the Monte Cristos are spectacular. Plus you get to eat inside of the Pirates attraction. If you don't want to have to race to get a seat before midnight, right across from it is the Cafe de Orleans which has the same menu, and you can get prime seating for Fantasmic!;) If you are a fan of Mexican food, they have a pretty good Mexican resteraunt next to Thunder Mountain. Other than that, the rest of the park sucks.:haha:
Now on to DCA. This park isn't the best at food. You may want to use the Grand Californian entrance to the park and get a stamp so you can eat at Downtown Disney. Just to let you know, they let anyone in there. It isn't really a private entrance rather than an unknown entrance. All it is is a gate to a tunnel to DD that just happens to pass through the hotel. About the best park food is the Corn Dog Castle in Paradise Pier(not the hotel). The corn dogs are really hot but really tasty.:p Hope you enjoyed my on-topic post.

Things have changed, but the air is at its worst this year. I can't even see the mountains this year.

If I'm correct it's 11 hours!
I feel that 9 to Florida is just acceptable. Oh my! Two more hours! :O
And thanks for all that info Coaster Guru! I'll keep it in mind :)

Well, Cyber you got a long flight time ahead of you. It takes about 5-6 hours to get across the U.S. Once you are in California. You will enjoy your stay.

You are one lucky person!! Going to the original disneyland is an honor really.. I've been there like 20+ times.. It's amazing... There are a couple good restraunts in New Orleans Square and Mainstreet has good ones too.. Really enjoy your visit next year!!! You be there just in time for the opening of the new Toy Story Ride at Cali. Adventure!! I've never stayed at the hotels cuz I live in southern CA.. But I'm sure all of them r great because we're talking about disney... Oh.. and if ur going on the weekend, stay for the fireworks show where tinkerbell flies over the castle!! AMAZING!!!

Edit:Wait! I just saw you were going to DLRP to ride TOT. The identical one is already finished in DCA just to tell you. In fact, the one in DCA has already been upgraded too with more drops. Just a little piece of info.

Congrats. Being a DL veteran (at least 15 or more visits), I have a fair amount of info. For now, I will give you my attractions that are not to be missed.
Disneyland:
Space Mountain*
Splash Mountain*
Big Thunder Mountain
Golden Horshoe Saloon
Honey, I Shrunk The Audience
Pirates of the Carribean
Whinne the Pooh
Indiana Jones*
Matterhorn Bobsleds (insist on getting a single seat, trust me!)
Peter Pan
DCA:
California Screamin'*
Soarin'*
Tower of Terror*
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Orange Stinger
Muppet Vision 3D*
* Denotes that these are the BEST OF THE BEST and should not be missed under any chances. I know "Nemo" isn't on here, but you'll waste your entire day if you even try to wait in line for it. Also note that Indiana Jones and Space Mountain are entirely different here. Finally, if possible, be sure to pick up a copy of the Unofficial Guide for the best info and touring plans. Cheers!

...:sour:
Anyway, like others said you should not want to miss the Blue Bayou restaurant , great place to eat. Also, a good ride to go on would be Grizzly River Rapids at California Adventure. its fun.;)
one tip, you might run into some walls in DCA. lots of remodeling going on.
also, get a birthday sticker, you get a free pack of tortillas at the tortilla factory at DCA. :D
have fun!

Yes, Nemo is a pain on the wait, we had to keep one person in line while the other's went on rides. I rode Space twice before riding Nemo. I got to be the first person on the ride that day though.;) The stars were still lighting up so it was darker than usual.
