We're going on holiday to England from the 30th of september till 4th of october, and on the 1st we're going to Alton Towers. Since it's on a monday, will there be many people there? And if so, what rides should we go for first ?
Thanks in advance!

On the 1st of October? Probably not, especially as schools are all back, including universites.
I suggest heading over to the Forbbiden Valley first. You can get loads of great early morning rides on Nemesis and Air between 9 and 10.30 ish, then you can make your way back through the park. Queues for Oblvion are usually short, and almost dead near the end of the day...

No I suggest going to Rita in Ugland then Forbbiden valley. Have a nice trip.
If you want to ride Rita, ride that first. The queues get massive.
I'd spend most of my day in Forbidden Valley, riding Nemesis and Air. I'd leave Oblivion to the end of the day; like DB said the queue dies out.
Have fun, it should be quiet there for you. :)

I'd want to get to as many rides there as possible, since I live in Norway there wont be many times I can go to AT or England :p
So I should go to Rita first and then over to Nemesis and Air, and Oblivion at the end of the day!?
Thanks for your advice everone

Okay.
There's a wonderful little pathway through the gardens which means you can get to Forbidden Valley before anyone else.
I went there once when all the schools were still going. It was still resonably busy, never that long a queue, but worth getting in the queue for Air early! Always is! Rita is one to hit early on, but you just have to do it if the queue gets too long, as it most likely won't get shorter.

When I went to ride Rita we spent like 3 hours in line. I was kinda sick the day before and then I got sick in line so I had to get out of line. It sucked I never rode Rita.

Purely my opinion, but I think Cedar Point is far superior to Alton Towers.

Never been. On my scarce knowledge of Cedar Point, I'd say it's the best for thrills but Alton Towers has more atmosphere... I don't know.

Alton has some nice scenery, but I tend to be a "water" person -- I adore the beautiful views of Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay surrounding Cedar Point. When on top of some of the rides, those views take my breath away.
Additionally, I'm more familiar with the 138 year history of Cedar Point than I am with the history of Alton Towers, so the structures at Cedar Point hold more meaning for me.

I've never been to Cedar point and I don't plan to go any time soon. I like Alton Towers more because the castle was built before 1412. Way longer than Cedar Point.

Forgive me, but saying you like Alton Towers better than Cedar Point when you've not been to Cedar Point is rather like a person saying they like chocolate ice cream better than baked Alaska because they've never had baked Alaska. Until you experience it, youi can't really be sure if you like it.
I've been to both Cedar Point and Alton Towers, so I know that I like Cedar Point better. I prefer its scenery, and I think it has a better selection of rides and I think it is better run. Naturally, these are only my opinions, and others may differ. My comment about the history is simply a fact: I know more about Cedar Point's history, so I appreciate that history more. I make no judgments about Alton Towers' history. For example, I know about the historic world's longest over water flight that landed at Cedar Point's beach. I know about some of the famous people who stayed at the 1905-built Hotel Breakers, including such people as comedians Abbott and Costello. I know about the big bands that played in the ballroom of the coliseum, keeping the park alive at a time when many older parks were closing their gates for good. I know about football great Knute Rockne developing the forward pass while working as a lifeguard on Cedar Point's beaches.
I make no judgments about whether Cedar Point or Alton Towers has the more interesting history -- I just know that I know quite a bit about Cedar Point's history, and I don't know much about Alton Towers' history. That knowledge gives me a feeling of having a closer tie to Cedar Point, but, regardless of the history, it is still my opinion that Cedar Point, for my amusement needs, is the better park.
Your comment relating to liking Alton Towers better without having been to Cedar Point reminds me a bit of an old Smothers Brothers routine, discussing the play Paint Your Wagon. Tommy Smothers says that it's a dumb show. Dick Smothers then presses Tommy about whether or not he's ever seen the show. After a bit of arguing, Tommy comes back with, "I'm an American! I don't have to see something to know that it's stupid!"
Anyway, this rambling note is my way of suggesting that you withhold judgment of Cedar Point until the day comes that you're actually able to visit the park. Meanwhile, Alton Towers is an enjoyable place to visit, so have fun there!

Yeah, I always go down that path first, very few people seem to know about it and it's the fastest way to get to th e Forbidden Valley.
I also like cutting through the gardens down the valley to get from Forbidden Valley to Ug Land, etaking shortcuts off the path through the trees so you get lost. Maybe not overall a faster route than going on the Skyride, but it's fun nonetheless.

So, I'm back from England. The plans changed while we were there. As none of us knew that Alton Towers were in the opposite side of the country, we desided to go to Thorpe Park instead. It still maked some troubles as we had to take three trains from Brighton and then 10 minutes in bus to get there. in the morning on the 1st, I got my dad to check what rides were closed, and Samurai, Quantum and Slammer were closed ( though Samurai opened later in the day ) I was a bit dissapointed, because I really wanted to ride Slammer, but I survived... When we came to the park, the parking lot was neary EMPTY. We were extremely lucky going on a ordinary monday, while everyone was at work. We had about 5 hours in the park. First, me and my brother went to ride Colossus, and the sign said it was 15 minutes queue. Not that bad, I thought, and then we rode it. It was really cool, not as intense as people want it to be. Then we headed for the flatrides in Lost City, we did Vortex, Zodiac, Rush and Samurai. Then we rode X:/ No Way Out, and it was really confusing. Then we headed for Steath, closed... I asked the guy standing there when it would open again, and just as he was supposed to answer, the train zoomed past over us! Then we rushed into the queue and got to ride the front car. It was really amazing. After that we went to ride Nemesis, but it closed and remained closed for the rest of the day. All in all I think Thorpe Park was a really nice park, with some nice themed areas and good rides. Next time, we may try to get to Alton Tower ;)
Here is a list of the rides I got:
Stealth 2
Colossus 4
Rush 2
Vortex 1
Zodiac 1
Loggers Leap 1
Miss Hippos Fungle Safari 1 :D Wheee
Samurai 1
X:/ No Way Out 2
I also did a video, which just is finished uploading.

Enjoy ;)
