A new theme park tower is in the approving stages of being built in Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Its has been redesigned over four times and I now think the developers are happy. Its a 200m tower and will host some of the most extreme adrenaline activities on the planet.
Tower rides include:
The Giant Drop - an 8 person free-falling lift that drops 95 metres into the base of the building. This will be the tallest free falling lift in Europe;
The See-Saw - an 8 person vehicle which plummets over the edge of the tower at 125 metres;
20 Flight Trainers - interactive joystick-controlled capsules which spin around the building at a height of 110 metres.
Extreme Activities:
The Walk of Fear - allows you to walk around the outside of the building at 115 metres,
The Climb to the Top - allows you to climb to the top of the tower and have your photograph taken against the city skyline;
The Sky Jump - a 100 metre high speed descent, controlled by a super fast winch, which gives the jumper the experience of free falling;
The Bungee Jump - the UK's highest controlled Bungee jump.
The base of the tower will include restaurants, retail units, educational facilities, a 250-bedroom hotel, a rock climbing wall, the lift boarding platform and ticketing booths.
Heres a pic, so what do you think?

Wow, that looks sick
That looks....just WOW, I expect to see some recreation in the exchange soon.
The only thing i have wrong with it is...Birmingham? I thought something like that would be in london.

Well they have the London eye dont they. And where that is now ,a big wheel was going to go there, however it got scrapped due to rising water levels. I will post more pics of what the tower was going to look like and more pics of the above render from diffrent angles.

The See-Saw - an 8 person vehicle which plummets over the edge of the tower at 125 metres;
I did this at 300 metres at the Stratosphere in Vegas. Pretty crazy.

I like it. It looks vey expensive though. Wonder how much it'll cost?

I think it was either 3 million or 3 billion.
I expect it will be 3 billion.
as rollercoasters cost something around 20 million.

I would think it would be impossible to financially justify 3 billion -- about $6 billion US dollars.
The purchase of the 5 Paramount parks by Cedar Fair cost $1.3 billion -- about 646 million pounds.
I can't imagine that this single tower would be able to generate enough revenue to justify such a price tag.

Heres four of the five previous designs, (Not including the one now) the main platform was much higher on these ones, however many people aggree with me that the latest and final design is much better.
First design/Proposed early 2006
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb105/jaybuoy/ffsfff-1.jpg
A new design/ late 2006 (Before this design there was a simular design just before it)
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb105/jaybuoy/ffdff-1.jpg
An even newer design/ proposed June time this year
At this point the name was changed from the Birmingham pinnacle to V.T.P.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb105/jaybuoy/ffdff-2.jpg
And the last design before the final prosal.(Simular to the one above but the base had changed)
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb105/jaybuoy/ffsfff-2.jpg
So do you think the one now is better or the previous ones?

It's not a theme park, it's a tiny amusement park stuck on top of a tower, which is stuck on an XScape type attraction.
I bet it'll be horribly expensive to do anything there. :o

Well you cant expect 50 attractions on the tower, its a skyscraper with a few attractions on top, not an amusment park. Im worried about how will they install new rides.

This is fantastic, however everyone should not be worrying about the future of the tower until it is the future. Let it be built and enjoy it while its new. And nickdaegg, what do expect to be on top of the tower Disneyland. Anyway this will be great for Birmingham and if its built by the 2012 olympics this will bring in tourists by there thousands. Oh and by the way I heard they may make it higher.

I contacted them and told them thay many people want it to be higher, and they sent back there not sure on the hight at the moment. So that means it could be higher.

Hmm, but I suppose some people would make a visit of the country out of it. You know, try and make guards laugh, stand next to a red phone box, visit a castle, that sort of fun.

Yeah but Birmingham is also hosting two events. The swimming event and the trampoline event. Woo Hoo.

Sorry for double post but I have some bad news, well its bad if you liked that design. Because CABE some company that advise the council whether the towers or buildings look good say this design looks a bit small and crumy. So we should most likley be seeing a new design, before christmas I hope.

I heard about this, oh sorry I live in Birmingham, well I live in Walsal but Birmingham is very close. And this is fantastic, lets just hope it extends in hight because this will not be a pinnacle if it stays at this hight. The design is Ok I wish they would make it diffrent it looks like scaffholiding going up the tower, however this will be nice and will attract tourists to Birmingham, oh and yes Birmingham are getting the trampoline event and we may be getting the swimming event, fingers crossed about this and the swimming event.
Why cant the UK have theme parks near where I live??? I live in the south-west of England (Devon) and the nearest park is The Milky Way. It has the biggest, fastest and longest roller coaster in Devon!!! Cosmic Typhoon! 35 Foot, 40mph, 1:20 mins and no inversions... I mean come on. We have tonnes of land perfect for a theme park and Devon seriously needs one. One near by in Cornwall closed down called Killarney Springs about 6 months ago and it had that same roller coaster thats in Milky Way atm.

I completely agree. We need more parks down in the south! There's nothing major here in the south-east of England either :(

I went to a place called flambards or something in cornwall...
but it wasn't very good.
I don't know about this...it looks good but you would never go more than once probably...once you've been on each thing...

Looking against the Stratasphere, and seeing how this is going to be less than half of that, yeah, they better make it bigger. I just hope that they solve the wind problem somehow.
jaybuoy
11-30-2007, 01:24 PM
I do not think they will make it bigger as Birmingham is on a very high hill, so its very windy up here. And buildings are not alowed to be over 250m in Birmingham as the airport complains.
Coaster Guru

That probably depends on the area.

Debatable. Most of the land in Devon would come with the same problems that Alton Towers faces, i.e. listed land or grumpy neighbours. The only reason AT has managed it is because it has been established there for decades (originally as a Garden), and because it has massive financial backing.
For a company to start a new park with those kind of problems would be financial suicide.
On another note - I think it's about time Brum got something like this. Those damn Cockneys steal everything!

Got that write, they get anything and everything. Wembly being one of the biggest ones, it was meant to be in the midlands so its easy access to everyone but lets guess who complained, yes thats write, London.

The Millennium Dome was designed by Midlanders too. And it might have been a success had it been in a more central location too, as more people would've been able to visit it.

Well sadly it wont be open until 2012, :cry:. However if you do come to Birmingham then, there is so much to see. Obviously this, The Bull ring(biggest shopping mall in europe), the canals (bigger canal network than venice),Town hall and council house (17th & 18th century buildings, very grand), and even more in the future. Ok Im getting too excited LOL, back on topic.
