You not seen the pics? He looks fantastic. This could be a great role for him.

It doesn't matter how he looks, I don't think Heath Ledger is capable of lending a good performance to Batman's opposite/highly intelligent, deranged, calculating, cold, psycopathic, serial killing, mass murderer out for laughs. Plus he doesn't really have a creepy smile. :o

I disagree on all of those points. If you cast somebody in the same bloody role, ie: the soppy, long-haired protagonist git who gets the girl, you're gonna get the same rubbish acting. Trying them out for other roles and breaking their typecast can give surprising results.

ie Robin Williams in One Hour Photo, one of my favorite movies.

Joker never did, its always been in the paint

Or Harrison Ford in What Lies Beneath :)

Yeah, it's all about the make up, which makes me think that Illusions HASN'T seen the photos of Heath Ledger. Also, Illusions said it's not to do with looks, then goes on about the creepy smile :/

I take it you've never seen him in comics then?

I have seen the photos, and the whole smeared lipstick look doesn't really make me feel it. It might make more sense after I've seen the movie, but he isn't supposed to be wearing makeup, his skin is supposed to be chemically bleached that way. That and a creepy smile is physiology, he doesn't naturally have the ability to give absurdly large grin...think like Jim Carrey can.

The reports I've heard say that Ledger is great as Joker. I'm a little wary, but willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

In the movie, I think the explanation is that he isn't wearing makeup, a mask he wore melted into his face giving him the scars and causing it to be permanently discolored.

Well, we'll have to wait and see. I'm really hoping your explanation is right, and that they find some way to give him the characteristic Joker smile. :o

Bad news everyone. Heath Ledger just died this month, but the good news is he completed his Jack "The Joker" Napier scenes before his death.

Yeah, once more I believed Mor was back.

And News usually is something new. You'd have to have been on MArs the last couple of weeks not to know about Mr. Ledger.

He popped his head round the door, said something like "Rehab was good", then scarpered again like a rat out of an aqueduct.

Well, yeah I have changed my opinion since I last posted...but now we have other problems with Ledger as the Joker. Mainly he won't be returning for another performance... :sour:

This is true. So I guess the Joker will only make a one-time appearance in the new Batman movies. I'm going to jump to conclusions and say they kill off the Joker at the end of Dark Knight.

My guess is that they will just hire a new actor for the part if they decide to keep The Joker around. And it IS Hollywood we are talking about, they almost never permanently kill off a character in these movies.

It is good news for Indians . Among the major initiatives taken by the government for this fiscal were measures for underprivileged children.

The finance minister, P Chidambaram, said the Mid-day Meal Scheme will be provided Rs 7,324 crore next year. In addition to covering children in primary classes, beginning 2007-08, it would cover children in upper primary classes in 3,427 educationally backward blocks. The transfer to Prarambhik Shiksha Kosh will increase from Rs 8,746 crore to Rs 10,393 crore. He has proposed to double the provision for secondary education from Rs 1,837 crore in 2006-07 to Rs 3,794 crore in 2007-08.
