It's from Geauga Lake and it's been rumored to be going to Dorney since it was dismantled last year.

That's not true at all. It's an impulse coaster, not a boomerang. http://www.rcdb.com/ig631.htm

They should have moved Dominator to Dorney Park it would make me so happy since it's only 2 hours away. I think this one will be fun though but still not as good as Dominator looks.

^Yeah, because you need 2 floorless coasters in the same park.

It'll be a first and whats wrong with that, floorless coasters are awesome I'll go to a park with two of 'em. At least it's not Villain or Thunderhawk.

Gee, thanks.

It's simple logic -- part of the experience is the surroundings. That's why the 80,000 Batman clones (give or take a few thousand) all count as a different coaster, even though they are the same track layout. So, when the coaster has a completely new surrounding, it fits to count it as a new experience, hence a new coaster.

It should also be noted that I don't really care all that much about "credits." If a coaster is not fun for me, I simply won't ride it, whereas I've heard other people say "Credit and forget it," which is definitely not my style. Fortunately, I find most coasters to have something fun, so it makes it easy to get on them! (The one exception: Flashback at Magic Mountain. It doesn't bother me at all that the coaster was open on only one of my visits to that park. One time riding it was more than enough.)

Everyone has their own theories on coaster credits, so I might as well chime in on this. My rule of thumb is: If it's the same coaster track being moved, then it's the same coaster. ...therefore I only count it once, no matter how many different parks it's moved to.

Therein lies part of the problem... trying to keep track (whoops -- pun was unintended!) of where the coasters move. I have enough trouble just keeping track of which one's I've ridden -- trying to follow the movements of 630+ coasters is just more trouble than it's worth! :D (It'd be fairly easy on coasters like X-Flight, but too much trouble for small production coasters like Wildcat coasters, or Toboggan coasters, etc., so, for consistency, I just don't bother with it.)

See.. I don't have that problem. :)

I do agree with Alpie though.. if your riding on the same track as you did before, its not a new credit.

I have a good analogy which helps me get this all in perspective.

Say you have one hummer, owned by Person A. If Person B buys the hummer, repaints it, and adds a music system.. its the same hummer but it just looks different. Hence, you can't say you've ridden in 2 different hummers because its essentially the same.

Now, if Person A and Person B both have hummers which are the same essentially but with different colors.. ect.. you could say you've been in 2 hummers, correct?

Ahh.. perfect. :)

Snoo, I can see your point, but the analogy, I'm sorry to say, is not perfect.

What if you've ridden in 600 Hummers, and you THINK one of them might be one you've been in before, but you didn't record the VINs, so you're not 100% certain. Do you count it?

What if one of the Hummers has a major accident causing the body to be worthless, but the engine, tires, and electronic components are still good, so they're transplanted into a new body? Is it a different Hummer, although the main components are the same? What truly makes it different: the guts, or the shell?

In my view, coasters are the engine that drives attendance and excitement at an amusement park. That engine was given new tires (foundation) and a new chassis (the surroundings of the new park). Unless they use an exceptionally long extension cord, it's also given a new battery (power hookup).

Adding to the confusion: I've been on coasters where sections of track have been replaced for one reason or another. Therefore, I might be riding on a coaster I've been on before, but that ride's including track upon which I've not ridden before. Is it a new coaster, or isn't it? (I would say no, but it is involving new coaster track.)

Besides, in my case, it makes up for a deficiency in my record keeping. Being on a coaster that's relocated is a bit of a rarity. However, before I kept a log, I went to quite a few amusement parks and rode on quite a few coasters that no longer exist. I don't count them, because I'm relying upon my memory as to which ones they were, and I can't really be certain. For example, I went to Boblo Island and rode their coasters, but I can't recall if there were 2, 3, or 4 coasters that I rode there. Same type of thing for Boardwalk & Baseball.

On top of that, some people count things like Kings Island's Racer twice -- once for the forward direction, once for the backward direction. Guinness Book of World Records recognized the distinction with Colossus at Magic Mountain when a group rode on it backwards when setting a record for most unique coasters ridden in a 24 hour period. Meanwhile, I counted Racer just once, although I've ridden both sides, because I didn't agree with Guinness' assessment.

So, as I see it, it all balances out in the end. And, since the environment of a coaster makes a big difference to me -- I'm always looking around at the scenery while riding a coaster -- it makes sense for me to count the environment as a major part of the coaster's existence.

If the environment means significantly less to you than the track, then, by all means, you shouldn't count a relocation as a different coaster.

Only you can decide how important environment versus track is to you.

Another analogy: What if you were in a terrible accident and your brain was transplanted into the body of Frederick Q. Bottleheimer, a 5 foot 2 inch tall couch potato. Which one is really Snoo: the body that Snoo left, or the body of Frederick, or perhaps both, or perhaps neither? Would you really want to claim the couch potato's body entirely as your own? As you adjust to the body and the different perspectives received from looking through different eyes, would it cause you to change to be a different person, especially since your physical capabilities would be different? How about other people? Former friends of Frederick would probably see you as Frederick. Friends of yours would probably require some time to adjust to your new shell. So, is the new Snoo the same as the old Snoo, or does the package make a difference? I guess it all boils down to the question: What's Snoo with you? (Sorry about that. Couldn't resist.)

The main problems I run into are state fairs or traveling carnivals. ...thank god I don't go to many.;)

Hmm.. this is cool.

I'm glad.. 'Voodoo' is going to Dorney. I think it'll fit great in that park! I wonder if they'll give it a new paint job.. and new cars. I heard the old trains are carp.

Hmm.. I also wonder if it'll still stop at the face-down part.

Batman:The Ride is also an horrible name by my opinion.

And,Voodoo is at least an original name, and it may have some good voodoo theme there! And the park needs an launched coaster!:)

I'm a fan of the logo. I like the new direction Cedar Fair is taking their ride logos... they've always been 'theme-specific' font-wise (as much of a theme that's there, anyways).. but lately they've broken out of that mold. Wicked Twister was the first one that made me step back and say "Whoa.. that's a CP Logo?"

Dragster was a step sideways... nothing drastic or new, really. maXair was bland... apparently, we were lacking a GIANT X in the park... Skyhawk was minor, but at least they gave it a bit of style. Maverick breaks into the more graphic-driven logo with the horse... and Voodoo branches that out a bit further... and a bit darker. I like it.

I hope they give it a paint-job... I really do. I can't see much from stopping it, especially if they're touting a new name for it. If they had kept the Steel Venom name, I might have seen a straight transfer sans-paint... but this is a different scenario.

But seiously, pretty cool. Can't go wrong with another impulse (despite the fact i've never been on one).
