Looks fun! I just might have to go visit the park next season.
So its a Maverick type ride? Let me just get it started by saying...OmGHerSheyCopiEDCeDarPoInt!

Really nothing like Maverick, besides the drop and train length.
Looks like a unique ride to be honest. I'll be making the trek next summer to ride it for sure.

Very unique, and kind of strange, but I'll reserve judgment.
850 riders/hour is really bad capacity though.
Lift hill looks just like rage at Adventure Island. Its looks like a Gerstlauer Eurofighter

The coaster is certainly nothing short of unique. It's exactly what Hershey needs for a perfect group of coasters. I would have prefered to see a hyper coaster though.

That looks awsome. I wanna go on that =[. The first hill looks really fun! And I love the element after the first drop, it's a weird inversion type.

There's only one other coaster that has that inversion. It's somewhere in Europe. I forget where.

They'll probably have to remove mid-May next year when it's revealed it causes up to 8g on the riders that was somehow overseen in every step of planning.

Well, I think this is quite the addition for Hershey. They needed a unique coaster, and they seem to have it in Fahrenheit. It's the only coaster in the US with a Norwegian Loop (the first inversion) and has the steepest drop in the US, too. I'll be going to Hershey as soon as they put it in (mainly to take pictures because the lines would probably be huge; it happened to Stormrunner, too and I'm quite impatient).
fathorse
09-27-2007, 05:22 PM
With 800 riders/hour the lines probably will be huge. I don't know what the average crowd is at Hershey Park on an average day, but that number seems low.
Im luck i can get a tour when the park is closed. FREE TOUR AND FREE RIDE ON FAHRENHEIT!!!!!

Ah HELL No! I mean that Maverick has a launch is way longer much better and more well themed. The Inversions-What is the Difference!? I mean they both have an single inversion that conts as two. And Maverick is much closer to the ground has lots more airtime and in my opionion is much more intense

Yeah, and screw B&M, too, for copying Intamin's original stand-up coaster style too lol. The whole coaster industry is nothing but a bunch of wannabees!
:bored:
This ride should be an excellent addition to Hershey's already strong lineup of coasters. The 97 degree drop seems a bit cheap though, barely beating out Mavvy by 2 degrees. Oh, well, the Norwegian loop, cobra roll, airtime hill, and inclined brakes more than make up for it.

^^ Does it really matter since so did Mystery Mine?
fathorse, I'm not exactly what you mean here... are you saying that Mystery Mine's drop beats Maverick's?
For those who care.... MM's drop is, in fact, straight down. It does NOT curl under itself. It was advertised that way initially, but it was built with a 90 degree drop, not 95 like other Eurofighters. My guess as to why... right at the bottom of that drop, the track has to twist to the right in order to line up with the station. Perhaps there wasn't enough height in the drop to allow for a curl and the twist.

I don't really mind that the lift hill and drop are reminiscent of a Euro-Fighter; it will be a better coaster than any Euro-Fighter because Intamins are smoother than Gerstlauer coasters. And the vertical lift is probably out of necessity, the place where they are putting it is kind of small.

Alright, I hear a bunch of you guys saying 'Maverick is better' or 'Fahrenheit is better'... now tell me this. How could you know which one is better when you haven't even ridden one of them yet. All we have seen is a concept of the ride that is lacking theming. So lets wait until one of us rides it before we start picking which on is better.
Personal, the more appealing design of the two, is Fahrenheit. The reason for that is the radical designs that they are using. Thats not to say that Maverick is not revolutionary by any means... but from the engineering point of view, Fahrenheit just seems to spark my mind a little more.
I am looking forward to this ride, fresh and new.
Rock on,

WHAT?! I never said that and no a EuroFighter wouldn't be as fun but it would have been a better move for Hershey's. Both this and Storm Runner have tophats, the same trains just shorter, and have the same track, this is way to close to for the random people that come in the park. They might think that the ride just changes colors. If they brought a Euro Fighter it would be toatally unique.

Stop being spoiled. We're lucky we're getting this. It's a great move for the park. And i don't think it's considered a tophat,it's a chainlift and people will definently be able to tell the difference between this and Stormrunner.Height difference, and they'll see it doesn't launch.

Okay, like:
1. They are different colors
2. Different track length
3. different layout
4. different train lenght
5. one launches, the other don't.
6. F has a steeper drop
7. F is a longer ride
8. They have different names.
^Those are the differences
1. Same Track.
2. Both upside down.
^Similar.
Yeah, I'm sure the guest will think they are the same thing alright

Agree 100% with -NGS- and ~Lovetulie. They have very similar tracks, but thats it. Stormrunner is a launched roller coaster which goes around the perimeter of a 'themed' area of the park. It pretty much makes a box.
Fahrenheit on the other hand is more of a roller coaster in the traditional sense of a ride that stays contained in one area. A ride on Stormrunner would give you a different feel than riding on Fahrenheit.
But here is my question... what do you suppose the theming around the station/ride would be like. Im hoping for a small water park or 'wetzone'. If not that, Id think maybe they are going with a Boardwalk type feel. Make it seem like you are on some beach in Florida or Cali.

I'm hoping like Maverick had those effects with the water shooting up,that Farenheit will have fire shoot up.That would be awesome.Nobody really knows where the theming will come into play, but trust me,Hershey will theme it in some way.

I doubt they'd "shoot" fire next to the tracks on the ride. That would be way too financially consuming, not to mention dangerous and harmful to the environment.

I'm not talking massive balls of fire, just little jets of fire.Maybe as the ride drops or does a turn near the midway,it could do what maverick does except with fire, just to add to the heat themeing of Farenheit.Or maybe if they had a giant thermometer next to the drop that shows it goes 97 degrees, you know,as it drops it shoots to 97.
Squid2
09-30-2007, 03:38 AM
Well, Volcano does it, but not when a train is launching. All of the Italian Jobs have fire effects. Both Revenge of the Mummy rides have them.
Of course, there are several rides and attractions that use fire. With several of them, the fire is quite close to the riders, or at least it looks like the fire is close. I haven't heard of any attraction where the fire in the attraction caused an accident.

I really cant wait for when they hammer in that first station building. IMO, Fahrenheit will PROBABLY be better. Here are some differences I also spotted:
- F has stadium seat
- F has 90* lift up
- M has a fast "launched" lift
- F is colored different
- F will PROBABLY not be canyon or "wild west" themed
- M has another launch
- M has tunnel
- F isnt put out by Intinami

What happened to Hersey Park! Every year there changing into a family oldtime park, to an extreame sixflags/cedar point. Back then it was so different, t otell you the truth I won't go on this new coaster, to scary, the tall woodies are too tall, the boomerang, and flying bear are too scary, everything is to x-treme. Dorney park did the same thing, now these parks are getting rid of there original rides/slides/darkrides ect. At least Knoebels is still by. . .
SnooSnoo
10-31-2007, 05:46 PM
^Thats because the big attractions can make a park.
Look at Cedar Points popularity in the last decade.. its not because of their original 'rides' or dark rides.
Family old time was back in the 60's.. when you had no coaster technology. Jump into the next millennium buddy.
Plokoon111

Rollercoasters are scary through the highest ive ever been on was probally rolling thunder at SFGADV, and that was 100 ft. Im afraid of heights, I hate the butterfly effect, and yeah. The reasons are because of teens, they always want the highest scaryest things, old attactions bore them, back then people loved that kind of stuff.
SnooSnoo
10-31-2007, 09:31 PM
People still loved the thrill too.. its not like people now are thrill obsessed. Thats why you saw coasters back then which were just as amazing, albeit, smaller.. still something to make people want to come.
-NGS-
10-31-2007, 10:29 PM
And plokoon, the butterfly effect is the theory that if you go back in time and kill a butterfly, the world will change drastically when you return to the present.
All in all, I wish we could have a mix of the two eras in a high class theme park.

Let's take a look at some of the rides Hershey has added to the park in the last 10 years.
Fahrenheit- 2008
The Boardwalk- 2007
Reese's Challenge- 2006
...along with Storm Runner in 04', Roller Soaker in 02', Lightning Racer in 00', Wild Mouse in 99', and Great Bear in 98'.
Now I admit that their last two coaster have been more extreme, Fahrenheit and Storm Runner, but overall I think they have a very good balance in the park.
