Hey, guys. I realise this forum is mostly anime and manga, but I thought I'd bring it closer to the west for this question.
I've recently read a few Batman comic series, Long Hallowe'en, Dark Victory and Hush (all Loeb books) and they were fantastic. I was just wondering which other series you would recommend for me. I'm a big fan of the crime comics in general, so maybe something less action and more mystery.
Any suggestions?

I have not read Batman in quite a while, or any other western comics. There is a Detective in the Manga world (once you get used to reading from right to left) Detective Conan AKA Case Closed. It is about a teenage super-genius detective who gets involved with the wrong people. They try to poison him, but it does not kill him, it turns him into the body of a 10 year old. There is also a anime series that is really long (more than 400 episodes!), and several anime movies as well. Basically the kid solves crime, while living with his girlfriend's dad, who is a bumbling private detective. All the time searching for a way to become normal again.

Yeah, I watched some Conan when I was in Japan and I found it a bit confusing. Possibly because I don't speak much Japanese. Possibly definitely because of that. I'll see what I can find of the mangas. I've been told by other people that it's good, so I have no reason not to, really...

The Manga is up to 59, 625 chapters in Japan, not sure just how many volumes that is. There up to Vol. 21 in English though.
Well now the show is dubbed into English (at least some of it is). They now show it on the FUNimation Channel (cause that is who distributes it in the USA), and on the Colors channel at night.
It used to be on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim about 5 years ago. However, they lost the rights to show it.
There are some other anime that are detective type shows. And some have Manga translated into English.
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarök (Norse myths & Case Closed clash) Only 3 Volumes done in English (Vols. 1, 2 & 4) by ADV manga (who are notorious for really long waits between manga volumes, or just canceling them).
Lupin III has a few Mangas available in English (probably have to look on Amazon under used stuff).
I am not sure how far away from true Detective stuff you want.

Sale & Loeb's books are fantastic. They did a third Batman together, but I can't remember what it's called right now. I'll check and edit in a little while. If it's more Loeb you're after, then I recomend Hulk Grey, DareDevil Yellow and Spider-Man Blue. If it's general Batman, then Broken City, A Death In The Family, The Killing Joke, and the No-Man's Land Saga are all awesome reads.

I used to read Batman quite a bit, I mostly stuck with the Legends of the Dark Knight stuff, until it got really silly. Of course I used to have The Killing Joke, and The Dark Knight Returns (1 & 2). Obviously I am interested on how they are going to handle Harvey Dent (AKA Two-Face) (since my last name is Dent after all) in the new Batman movies. It was really cool to have Billy Dee Williams as him. It was also pretty cool to get Tommy Lee Jones as him later.

That third Loeb/Sale Batman was called Haunted Knight. Sorry I took so long.
