View Full Version : [REL/WIP] Downloadable .pdf of images of all RCT3 scenery & custom scenery

I have created a .pdf document (requires adobe reader 8.0 free here (http://www.adobe.com/)) that has what I believe is all the placeable basic scenery & custom scenery (not including shops & facilities) for RCT3. Because of it's growing size, I may need to break it down into separate files between a few meg's in size up to about 30Mb each. I have managed to scale the size down quite a bit but they do have good imagery.

I think you will find these files handy as they can easily be run along with RCT3 (using the windows key to toggle between) without having to go on the net to check each site.

The update through 1/8/08 will be ready by this weekend and the completion most likely within a week, it is

!! 100% Completed - Download Ready !!

When it is completed, they are broken into separate files where the first one (A) has the table of contents and glossary for all of them, it is purposely put at the end with the glossary so in case the contents size changes it doesn't change the page number of the images. Unless a new release for a specific file comes out (ie: A), you don't have to download that file anymore.. the files are in .pdf format and each of them typically have about 330 images. I will try to update it on a monthly basis so the latest cs is imaged. The whole idea here is that you can visually see all the cs offline and it hardly causes any lag while running the game, well here are the links below...

***quick note -- just recently recognized that a lot of the table of contents may be missing, it will be fixed and re-uploaded***

The following downloads make up the collective scenery guide...
RCT3 Scenery Guide - Doc A - Updated 03-07-08.pdf (30.82 MB) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4AAF8W89)
RCT3 Scenery Guide - Doc B - Updated 01-08-08.pdf (29.77 MB) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4JHNRXVW)
RCT3 Scenery Guide - Doc C - Updated 01-08-08.pdf (27.7 MB) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9XF5FA7Q)
RCT3 Scenery Guide - Doc D - Updated 03-07-08.pdf (10.77 MB) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BOBL3FZK)
Guide D appears smaller because it is only about 1/3 full

If a file appears older than the others, it simply means no update was necessary.
To be up to date, you only have to download the newer files you have not downloaded already.

Many people want to see what they are downloading before they choose to, as a result, I decided to put up some imagery here so people can see exactly what the use of this is...

Except for a few exceptions included with permission, all imagery has been taken by me using RCT3 Platinum. Please ignore the fact that some thumbnails on the left side of these images don't show, the capture program I used to get these just couldn't image them.

if you particularly knew what you were looking for, you would scroll to the bottom of .pdf [a], which has the table of contents, then follow & open the related .pdf (if its not already [a]) as shown below..

If a set or part of a set is colorable, I always try to indicate as shown below but to keep the filesize down, I usually am limited in the amount of images per cs set so often, I try to improvise ...

If you look at the highlighted area below showing those little tree samples, it should be enough info to crossreference and find out what scenery icon to select in RCT3 in order to find the desired cs, the folder always lists in alphabetical order; see image below ...

currently this is only for cs created thru the end of 2007 though i may try to find a solution to add more to it or see if apet08 is still updating a newer one.

Anyway, thanks to apet08, I have been able to add this to the RCT3 Scenery Guide as well. It is a sample that lets you cross reference all sets that, say, have glass windows making it easier to find the specific window type you desire. It is actually apet08's custom scenery organizer broken down into pdf pages... (added with permission, post #18)

No prob, hopefully it will be as useful for you as it is for me, it helps me get ideas on what to build but just know that it has pretty much all the basic scenery except the shops or buildings. Its also nice cause all the images are in 1 spot and you can see what cs you want to download first.

Note though: While i'm finished with the standard scenery I only did a little bit of custom scenery. My aim is to get all of the released sets in and reupload the .pdf file but for now there is a lot of scenery images in this one to find stuff to build.

Watch for updates, the next one will have at least most of it. Enjoy and any questions, suggestions. cs creators with your fine scenery and efforts, if you would like me to use specific images, I would be more than happy to update the .pdf as suggested.

For now, all the best & hope it helps you

But its still not opend lol it takes hours :|

i was thinking of making it a zip file. what is taking a long time, downloading it or trying to open it afterwards?? it opens in seconds on both my pc's when i open it.

it is a big file (130Mb) to download but you only have to do it once, whats nice is that you will have all the images of the scenery offline so you could run RCT3 at the same time and use the windows key to toggle between to both.

if you want & its easier, i can email it to you

this nice are make one that show all cs that everyone make not just in the game cs like you did with this one instead.

yes my plan is to do up all the cs as well, it would be so much faster if I could just use images already taken from cs sets but I would need to ask permission to use the images and wait for a response so its easier to just to take pictures of each set's pieces in RCT3, though that can be a time consuming process as well.

Thats why I said, any cs creator whose released a set and just ok's me using their images, they can do it right here in a reply I guess. Then i don't have to download, unzip, install the cs, rerun RCT3, lay out the pieces and take images myself, i could just put that image into the .pdf., it would mean a faster completion & their image would probably represent the set better. Either way, i'm looking to get all the cs I can for RCT3 anyway.

I guess you could say that this is sort of a partial release and WIP but my aim is to include all standard and custom scenery, meantime hope you have good use of the .pdf file I managed to put up so far.

thanks.. just one more thing, all the images I made are 1024x768 so they can be seen good. Using a cs creators images, unless you want to email or link me to an image of 1024x768, after I download the image, I will scale them to 1024x768 resolution in photoshop so that when the .pdf is made, they are all the same size.

Its important for all the text and images to be the same size for best viewing, otherwise the reader usually scales down the viewing size of all the other images.

that the only image got of the stagelight set right now

no prob.. looks good anyway..

The only thing, I realized with the other images, I caught the menu in their images which help people know what set it is & where to find it but no big deal, when I install your set, ill just take an image with the menu & include it with these so people know what set it is.

The way it is currently, people can still tell what set it is if positioned on your images by simply scrolling up to the custom scenery table of contents and cross referencing the page #

ok.. im just abt ready but takes a long time to upload so will go to dinner then will update the link with the new download, in about 2 hrs

On a separate note, just wanted to mention, unless told to add otherwise or that I acquire cs in an unusual order, basically i have been updating this in alphabetical order by what is installed on my pc (another words, i'm just going down each scenery list and imaging them one by one as I can). then after i'm done, ill just look for cs still out there I haven't installed & include that cs.

--I have also added an alternate download site for this file in case people have trouble with the first one, see post#1 for the link, thanks--

Updated: 7/24/07 @ 7:00pm EST:
Added scenery, a new updated file is now available for download !! ---
see post#1 for download link

Updated: 7/25/07 @ 10:30am EST:
Important fix will add cs other than what's just in the "walls, roofs & buildings" & shows where & which tab to find it ---
expect a newer version later today

I have just gone through your file and I can say I found it much more detailed than I had imagined and hoped for. I have to warn you, though, that it is going to be a lot of work. Not that you don't know that already.

I'd say more, but I have some catching up to do...

Thanks a lot!

Thanks, yes it is in its infancy, there is another update coming tonight but If I stayed on it nonstop, I could conceivably finish all of it about 2 weeks but that is an extrodinarily optimistic goal. It's main purpose is to hopefully be a handy offline booklet to quickly get custom scenery ideas and to find out which set its in. It is a sizeable download but once its complete it would only be a one time download and a handy .pdf, I would think, to have on the side.

I don't know about others but when I am playing RCT3, hitting the window key to minimize it and trying to get on the net to get more info on cs is miserable for me, slow as anything. Thats why I think this thing could become a handy supplimental offline guide. The nice thing about this guide is quick access to set info even if offline and even if running RCT3 at the same time.

Uploaded 12/7/07 - New Download - See Post #1 for the download link

12/9/07: I wanted to say that when this is all finished, I will also elaborate on the index; for example: suppose your looking for sets with lighting in them, it would cross reference all the sets that have it. I don't know how elaborate I will get with the index but i'll try to make it as useful as possible.

In order to keep the filesize to a minimum though, both the table of contents (anotherwords what page each set is on) as well as the index will only be found in file# 1.

12/28/07: While I have downloaded & imaged all the cs I have in RCT3, it doesn't account for either newer stuff that came out or cs that I didn't feel I had a need to use. Cause I don't want to have to ask each creators permission to use their imagery, I will install each cs set (whether I think i'll use it or now, image it, then uninstall it if i don't think i'll have a use for it).. this is a long process as I have to accum all those images, update the table of contents & make a new .pdf release so still a work in progress.

Note: possible future project, downloadable .pdf of standard and custom fireworks elements, I haven't decided on that yet?

By the way, have you checked out my CSOr? It has everything you want to add in your guide, minus the pictures. Feel free to take from that whatever you want.

Thanks apet08.. Some of what you have here could be useful for creating a glossary, so it would be easy to find, for instance, all sets with brick walls, etc. I will add the keyword portions as the glossary to the RCT3 Scenery Guide. I hope you will still continue to put out updates, if so, ill continue to update the glossary along with the scenery guide, otherwise ill just do the best I can to update the glossary on my own & I will credit all your efforts. Credits will be on the last page of all the .pdf's.

Finally...
Note:
When anyone downloads these, it's possible they may find some errors or missing cs here and there. If you do and either you are the creator or just know the cs well and want it corrected, could you please also include what section, or tab it's in (ie: foliage, fences, etc.). Also, it would make it a whole lot easier too if you could put how it is named in that section or tab but whatever you can give me would be appreciated.

cs creators, on imagery, I usually tried to keep it as simple as possible, in the earlier part of the scenery guide, I was a little more generous with imagery but then realized the files were getting more cumbersome and I was getting more worn out which had me just trying my best to portray the sets as simple as I could. If you feel you would like different images, that is fine, but if you want that, I would truly appreciate it if you could provide me with an image I can include; also limit it preferably between 1-3 images, its best if you just reply with a post including, assuming it is yours, that you permit me to use it. I don't want to tear this apart later cause someone feels I used their image without permission and I have to keep the imagery to a minimum so there is ample room for new stuff without the files getting too crazy.

Ok, having said that.. enjoy & hope you find it as useful as I did.....

By the way... I may have noted on some cs that I either couldn't find it, that I have imaged it but do not know where it is, etc. I will be updating these monthly, this just brings it up to the beginning of january. Soon, I will release an updated version that brings it all current and update it thereafter each month so in closure, I expect these issues will be resolved when the update is released.

Im sorry, I kinda fell off the map as I was involved in a terribly tiring move into a new home. I love RCT3 but what a fantastically (though rewarding) job of installing all this scenery into the PC and making sure it works.

Now with Flash drives holding GIG's of capacity, I might just get it all to work, copy the entire RCT working folder as well as the RCT3 subfolders within "My Documents" onto a flash drive and I will have all the scenery set to work on the fly that I can install in any machine.

I would like to see if within the months to come, if I can try to catch this scenery guide back up as well and in response to apet08, yes, would be nice if this could be added to the complete list.

I have found that such a vast amount of scenery, it is hard to remember everything that can be used, I find, just scrolling thru images in the .pdf helps me so I can decide what would be cool to use.

The very reason to effort over all this is so everyone else can benefit from it as well.

Thanks for all your replies.

Just to let you know, even though Apet isn't around anymore, I will still let the offer stand as he originally stated it. It might even be a good idea to see if some RCT site will host it for you too, as it would be another way to do it, and maybe even get everything on one file instead of foru different ones.
