View Full Version : [WIP] Port Aventura set - More updates [Rapids Turntable + Bridge and Signs]
Hey, this is a team project between me, lego3366 and RCT3Robin, a Port Aventura set although, it'll be versatile, so you'll be able to use the parts say from the Asian (China Section) for your Chinese/ Asian Parks, The Polynesia stuff for a Jungle park e.t.c you get the idea.
Now, this set hasn't been WIP that long, but it's a big big project :D work has began anyways some imported pics
Stuff I've done:
Version 1 of the bin:
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd18/sr3d_1991/PA%20Cso%20Set/bin.jpg
A bit dark in that pic, will lighten the texture
----
Next stuff to import include:
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd18/sr3d_1991/PA%20Cso%20Set/Diablo-SKP.jpg
Hopefully the next object to be made will be:

--
List of planned stuff:
New path covers
New Benches
New Woodie Accessories for the stations
Park ride logos
New Fences
New Billboards
Animated Custom rides (Maybe)
Side Shows
New Trees/Plants
Boats (Full Size and RC)
New Ride Details
That might expand again
EDIT: Only stuff for the bottom of page 1 is going in the set, other than the bin and El-Diablo sign
Looks good on the things so far.
EDIT: only problemis that the portaventura name bit is meant to go under the globe bit in the last pic.

the cover for the freefall tower is too thick, if you look close, it covers some of the.. car thing...
make it a tad thinner and it would be perfect!

I thought that, unfortunately if I make it any thinner the track on the tower starts showing through. I'll see if I can throw in a slightly smaller version as well.

That last model looks really nice , but i am wurried that the 2 footers of that arch have waaay to many poly's .. :(

12-04-2007, 02:13 PM
well the main poly count is the roof, with the curved bits, the archway isnt a curv, its flat... the whole model has just over 2000....

2000 !! holy goodness ... that's a lott ...

not alot when ya think about it, it's being used once, 4, 500 face objects = 2000 , not like it'll be used multiple times, and there'll be a reading me saying it has alot anyway...

But it's not necesserally about the amount of times it's going to be used.. I understand that the model would only be used once in a Port Aventura recreation (I would have use for it multiple times in another park) but that model could be made with a much lower poly count. Of course it's how the model looks rather than the poly count but that exact same model could be produced with probably less than half the polygon count. As I say, the poly count isn't unbelievably huge, though it could be reduced.. because all the polys add up! Don't want to get what looks to be a good recreation ruined because the game's lagging like hell!

yea true, I'm thinking, because of all the effort gone into it of making it like that, make it a multi lod object (Remove the harder to see bits when zoomed out e.t.c) thanks though
Edit: When you next gonna be on msn? :p (Noone see this as a chance to go off topic, thanks)

It'll be coming out in parts, it's gonna be absolutely massive, not a clue on the date yet, because we're gonna do basically everything in PA that can't be done with scenery already, which if I want it perfect, which I do, is a lot  it's all for my PA recreation, but as I'm sure I mentioned earlier it'll be versatile ;)

That thing for the rapids could be really usefull for everyone if it is the size of the in-game-rapids corners.

It will be, even if it means scaling the model around as it is at the moment.
I've got the bridge texturing started as well. :D:up:

Oooh, I am liking it very much! :D
If you do need further textures from Harbour Set 2, feel free to use them. That way scenery is more compatible with each other :)
Thanks LG.
Got the bridge in game last night...gonna make a bigger version, and one with a slight slope to, just for variation...

It's a great idea to make a group-project. I wish you all the best and god luck. From my own experiences, I know, that a group-project is not always easy to handle.
I like the chinese entrance really very much and maybe you could make a roof set out ouf this object as a kind of sidekick-project.
You all know, that we all want a chinese pagoda roof-set since the release of the first CS-objects and how many unfishined projects we have seen in the past years. Your roof looks really perfect.
I'm curious to see what's coming next.
Thanks :D the roof's will be separate as well, as Port Aventura, uses them, alot, different shape ones as well, so they will be done along with more China / Asia theming, I'll keep you updated on it all
Also would anyone happen to have a Spanish barrel tile roof texture lying around?
