This has been bugging me for a couple of days now.

I installed my brand new copy of The Witcher and loaded it up. Everything went great. The graphics were amazing, the gameplay was awesome and I was just getting in to it.

However, when I finished the first part of the game and was going to proceed outside of Kaer Morhen, the game froze and crashed. The whole computer.

And now, ever since then, I can't play it anymore. It freezes up and crashes the whole computer each time.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything numerous times and tried it with all the different patches, but that doesn't work. I then tried to update my graphics drivers. Nothing. Audio drivers? Nothing. DirectX? Nothing.

My whole PC is brand new, literally, I finished putting it together the previous day to when I installed the game. I have never had a problem like this before. Can anyone help me?

I have a current DXDiag report, but I don't know how to post it if I could. So if anyone needs it to help, I can email it or something. Thank you in advance. :D

I may have some furhter bad news for you folks. If your game crashes or if your DVD drive won't read the disk you saved games are probably going to be trash. tn eproblem lies within the Copy Protection aspect of the game. The DVD won't consistantly read it correctly. Once done the proctection system essentially kills off essential characters and preventes them from respawning, this your dead in the water with respect to advancing anywhere in the game.
I have installed the latest TAGEs drivers and tried the ganme from the start again, but i still can't get the game to run 100%. Sooner or later the drive fails to read, thus my whole play times is lsot and wasted.
I have emailed support and will post back on any further fixes.

I've not heard that before. I've had quite a few crashes but it's never affected my save games or ability to complete the game.
