View Full Version : Anyone else worried about the online feature?

After Atari failed with BT3's online and ignorantly refuses to give any type of customer service about the issue and refuses to fix it, I'm thinking the exact same thing will happen, because of Atari's ignorance to their published game's issues, I think I might just rent this, and if the online is bad, I'll just return it, and I suggest everyone else rent it first to see if the online will be broken, I can't wait until some other company that actually cares about the games they publish takes over the DBZ liscence because it's pretty clear that Atari doesn't give a damn about that nor about their customers:down:

I am the lag was so terrible it was unbearable just to get through 1 match mabey since its on a different system it wont be so bad not to mention a different developer

I think that the lagging will be reduced, but not completely disappear.

The only time lag is not noticeable is if they somehow use dedicated servers, which is unlikely (my guess is they'll use traditional peer-to-peer servers), or if the host of the game lives basically down the street from you.
However, I do predict that this game being on the 360 and PS3 will definitely increase the chances that this game will have a good online experience. Of course, the lack of customer service and support from Atari with BT3 is probably going to carry over to the next games. Either that - or they knew this whole time they didn't have the resources to fund both BT3's fix and the development of BL; and they chose BL.

Atari......they better NOT be the cause of the lag on BT3...or else itll be the same here. If not, no worries

I'm not worried, this is a different company, and I'm sure they'd learn what NOT to do from Spike's mistakes, whatever they were.

Online for the PS3 and Wii are exactly the same. So if Atari and Nintendo could mess up this little number on the Wii then Sony and Atari can do the same.

It's not because of that. If you were to look in the lag thread in the T3 forum, which you most likely won't, then you'll know that it's an in-game issue, not the online service of the console.

not really, i say that becuase Nintendo is still new and practically not serious with online at the moment. Sony had online with the PS2 and even better online with the ps3.

Oh on the contrary, Nintendo places a lot of value on online play, but like Sony they don't really care much for third party developers in terms of online convenience. And seeing how Atari might be running the servers who knows what will happen.

For the 360 yes, for the PS3 no. Its exactly the same as the Wii kiddo.

Mystic Gohan
01-17-2008, 04:08 PM
They can do that for the Wii too, but have they?
DamienD
01-17-2008, 04:13 PM
Yup, they can. I have a ps3/360 and i sure as hell ain't getting this game for the 360 since the d-pad is crap. And i hate using analog sticks for fighters.
I could care less about achievements and custom soundtracks personally.

I've never really experienced much lag on xbox live before so I'm hoping the games at least playable. Atari needs to not slack off and give us fans the whole experience!
Tru_Warrior
01-17-2008, 04:16 PM
Haha exactly. The D-pad has to be the worst on the 360, the controller is clearly not made for fighters.
The ONLY reason i MAY get this on the 360 is becuase of xbox live, i dont pay for anything i charge on Xbox Live lol, and Achievements. They're pretty fun to get and i gotta admit, i WAS like you at first, but once you unlock more...and more...you get addicted
And we dont have to worry about Atari running the servers for xbox live, Microsoft wont let them lol. Plain and simple. EA had to literally fight for years to at first allow them to use thier own servers on xbox live when it originally launched. The ONLY reason Microsoft let them is because EA wasnt gonna make any xbox games until they could.

I am slightly worried, to be honest as I have seen the Lagging Videos on Youtube, & are they are bad. Very Bad. Let us hope this Game will
be an exception when the Game is released (assuming there is an Online Feature with the Game).

Though this does worry me.
The wii version of bt3 hasnt been fixed.
And honestly, this is pretty unacceptable. Donny clay and the other people hyped up online with their stupid marketing schemes, and guys what was the result? LAG
If this lag continues for Bl and the sequels, then atari can rot in hell. I do find it funny though, atari COULD have fixed this problem but they didnt. And now they are trying to make people forget about by saying things like "radical 3D graphic effects,"(wtf?) and "
"Atari is excited and ready to offer fans the next iteration of the Dragon Ball Z video game series on the next-gen consoles," said Donny Clay, Producer, Atari, Inc. "With explosive cinematic graphics and online gameplay, fans of the series and of the fighting genre will surely enjoy Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit."
I am tired of atari's lies. They tricked hundreds of fans to buy an unfinished product

Online for the PS3 and Wii are exactly the same. So if Atari and Nintendo could mess up this little number on the Wii then Sony and Atari can do the same. hate to bring up a stale subject.. but i thought i would clear this up.. Wii's online runs on a peer to peer network just like Live where as the PSN sony has servers just for there online community so its not like if i "hosted" a game it would be running off of my own net connection.. i would start a game on the PSN servers. and the opposite for Live and Wii.. if i started a game on Live, it would run right off my net
knowing this, im sure that the online mode will be fine and will have almost no lag, not server side anyway, client side however that remains to be seen

after searching a bit more on the subject i retract my statement,i have a 360 as well so this was not an attempt at a console war, just myself being givin misleading information and for that i apologize, however the 360 part wasnt really my point to begin with, it was that the ps3 and wii are nothing alike in how there online mode works

Allright im gonna change my mind, ur right about the lag, but i think it will be alot better for online PS3 because 1: people dont wanna pay for online 360 and 2: Ps3's graphics will just be overall better. Overall IMO Get the PS3's version over the 360. You will have a better benefit.
PS - My Connection is fine, it's the 360 that sucks lol

01-18-2008, 10:16 AM
i prefer my ps3 to my 360.. but come on.. you and i both know that its going to be developed on the 360 then ported to the ps3 "unless stated otherwise by Dimps.. but i havnt heard anything about that so", so if anything the 360 is going to have the better graphics.. not that it really matters being a game based off an ANIME...
and at present sales would dispute your "people dont want to pay for online" maybe with the release of home the playstation will see a turn around, and maybe with some of its other big name titles but the point is there are more people with 360 gamertags then there are ps3's sold at this moment in time so
DamienD
01-18-2008, 10:16 AM
Actual, ALL games have experienced lag. No console is excused from this. IN Vf for 360 i have fought in a couple of laggy battles. But the majority, they were lagless.
And the only "better" graphics would be minor. The ps3 version will have the better d-pad. And i am sorry, but i hate playing fighters on the 360. No custom soundtracks, achievements, or slightly better graphics will make up for the crappy d-pad imo

at the moment, PS3 development cost is way too much, WAY too much for Atari to handle so it only make sense the 360 will be the lead platform. Also, no one still really doesnt know how to program it correct UNLESS they make the ps3 lead platform which many arent just willing to do

And you dont thin Atari doesnt have to Pay namcobandai and dimps?; who's bill will be outrageously higher than usually for lead programming on the ps3? Then they still gotta translate the damn game, pay Funi, and the voice actors?
