A german user called MrPlow (The name wasnt available here anymore so his nickname here is "InUse (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/member.php?u=299611)") and I are creating a coal-mine set which is inspired by the "Bright Falls Coal Mine (http://www.lupiupload.de/090126/gyyAZoXh.jpg)" from Alan Wake.

MrPlow makes the models, I import them. As you can see here (http://planetsketchup.pl.funpic.de/viewtopic.php?t=84), he is really talented.

The first 64 models are imported (with 512x512 textures as shared textures (my first time with shared textures)) and we can show you this first (of course not final) pic:

Looks like a mixture of your Industrial-Set with wooden planks. I really like it, but I don't see currently that it is a coal mine (expect the logo). I know, you've just started with the set and I'm curious what comes next. I live in the Ruhr-Area in Germany, the area with the most (now closed) coal mine's. Yes, it is from RCT3. But I replaced the sky and lowered the saturation of the trees.

The boxes have now random rotation and are a bit smaller, so that they dont intersect too much. The tire is bigger and also available as a stack:

At this point I forgot to create a pic of the straight platform of the stairs. They look like the carwalks of steelworx. I show you later why I made them.

Such an AWESOME set DasMatze (not that I'm surprised, coming from you). I particularly like and appreciate your random rotation setting used on the boxes. It will allow us to create very natural-looking settings now when things aren't always placed solely by the grid of RCT3!

And I LOVE the ride event door--THAT is going to show up in SO many rides.

This is easily one of the most anticipated sets out there!

He did that on purpose to show you that there are ride event doors with three different lengths of "open" time. Notice all three doors opened at the SAME time, but they closed several seconds apart from each other.

But I think it's better if you change the 8 seconds in 12 or something, If I use it I'm sure the last people in the train will see a barrol that's coming out of the middle of no where, or do it like the doors, one with 8 seconds, one with 12 seconds, and maybe one with 15 seconds.. ;)

WinRAR is actually quite small....I really have trouble seeing why everyone complains about such a small program that you can use so easily.:rolleyes:

Well gee golly, try googleing winrar, or 7zip... both programs are free

The set was released in a .rar file. If you want to use it get something that opens a .rar. If you can't be bothered, then don't download the set. Easy.

Jeez, free custom scenery that someone else spent their time, talents, and often even money on and people can't be bothered to do a little work themselves.

hey I downloaded 7zip so I could get this cool set but I'm confused......do I extract the files or what, and if I do..... where?

Right click the .rar file, go to 7zip and choose extract here and then its a normal file and you place that in style/themed.

no I mean the actual 7zip program its just sitting there in a .zip folder and it can't do anything. theres an .exe file and a user's manual(which didn't help), a readme.txt file (also didn't help) and all the legal documents. when I click on the exe., it says
"this application may depend on other compressed files in this folder. for this application to run properly, it is suggested that you first extract all files."

They do work, you didn't install or use them correctly.

They are simple programs to use. Why should someone go to all the work of making a .zip if you can't be bothered to figure out how to use a .rar? If you 'rly rly rly rly rly rly rly rly RLY' want the set, then go back and figure out what you did wrong.

I'm not speaking for everyones installation issues, I'm just curious as to whether this may be the actual cause of everyones troubles with DasMatze's sets.

I've tried downloading many of DasMatze's sets from his website over & over again over the past few weeks. I think the problem is with the site itself, somehow. I have downloaded succesfully from his site several months ago, but as of late the only scenery packs I've been able to download of his I got from Vodhins site.

DasMatze converted the downloads to executable files to try to solve the issue, but I think he was addressing the wrong problem. Perhaps it lies in one of the e107 scripts he uses on his site? That's only a guess.

I just tried again, and here are the download results:

Office Day 145 kb in 1 second
Fences and Railings 142 kb in 1 second
Industy Age 143 kb in 1 second
Tobaggan Kit 138 kb in 1 second
Instant Wood 133 kb in 1 second
Animatronic Ride Events 136 kb in 1 second
Swizz It 142 kb in 1 second

I'm wondering just how many people have been failing to notice that the download stops after only 1 second. All these files are supposed to be a couple meg at least, not the roughly 140 Kb they've been receiving.

I'm betting those who have working copies of the sets downloaded the sets a while ago.

Would someone who has a working copy of the above sets please try downloading again to verify?

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T DOWNLOAD OVER YOUR ORIGINAL COPY!!!!!
Download to an empty directory just so you can check the download time and file length.

That's an issue I can't fix. If it only downloads a few kb, press Ctrl+F5 before downloading again.

I'll give it a shot.... You do do INCREDIBLE work with your sets! :up:

EDIT: Tried it again with the CTRL-F5 trick several times with the Coal Mine & Office Day.... First attempt held on for two seconds... after that it kept stopping after one second again.

Vodhin recommended emptying you temp internet files before trying to download it again, that's worked for a number of people.

Every time I download it, it comes up as an .exe file. Is this supposed to happen?

That's because he re-uploaded all his custom scenery as *.exe's because many people were having a hard time comprehending *.rar files and how to open them with the free apps that are available. (I did try DLing some of the above mentioned files again while at work... same result as mentioned above.)

DasMatze is a very creative mind with Custom Scenery, who has been beseiged with complaints from Newbs to Vets about installing/downloading/etc... No Wonder he doesn't want people P.M.'ing, emailing, or posting on his own website anymore. He's a genius scenery maker, getting harrassed about things currently slightly beyond his control .

I know DasMatze has shared several of his wonderful creations through Vodhins Website. Perhaps if we are lucky he will upload the rest of his incredible library of scenery to Vodhins website. That is entirely up to him.

In the mean time I thank him very much for his great creations, and look forward to him continuing in his current & future projects. (OFFICE DAY ROCKS!! OMG! I CAN'T WAIT TO USE THIS IN MY CURRENT PARK! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR. U- ROCK! WHEN'S THE NEXT UPDATE?!? IT'S BEEN 45 MINUTES! ;) )

When I download from Vodhin's Site I often need to download items twice to make them work. for some reason IE dosn't like to download from his site and stops part way done. I just redownload them.

Since I have started using FireFox I have not had that problem.
