-bows down- OMG ITS ANOTHER SHYGUY SET

by god shyguy you just seem to put out what people need most... this will be vitally useful to so many people, and ultimately make terraforming easier for people who are so inadvertantly challenged at it :noob:

but it does look like you used the models from the prehistoric rocks in the original game files... could this be true??? :haha:

anways, great job, and good luck!

No. Not 700 variations. :bulb:

There will be about 20 variations x 7 textures = a little over 100.

More quality rocks = more wonderful creations. Thanks for this, I was actually thinking the other day that the rocks that are out there (I have the most popular, I think) just weren't enough to do everything I might want. This will be a most welcome addition. Looking forward to seeing more...:up:

Well, I know I haven't posted for awhile. I'm kind of taking an extended break from RCT3. But I'm definately going to finish this set and release it fairly soon. With that said, here's the latest...

Stalagmites and Stalactites

Very cool ShyGuy! I haven't been keeping up on the CS forum enough! Question (maybe suggestion?): for the stalagmites/stalactites, have you tried using the "Scale Variation" setting in the OVL window? It might give even more randomness/variation to create even more natural-looking caverns?
(Maybe you did that already and I just missed it)

Plokoon111

Hey SHyguy is it possible to make a request for a desert/light brown textures, for rocks that snap onto a wall, and will not go through it. It would be great!

I don't want to use "scale variation" because when I place down objects, I don't want them changing size randomly.

But... it's a possiblilty for a Rock Set 2, if I decide to do one.

Hey SHyguy is it possible to make a request for a desert/light brown textures, for rocks that snap onto a wall, and will not go through it. It would be great!

There will be no requests for this set. Once it is finished and released, if there are requests for other shapes and textures, I may do a Rock Set 2. I will base that set mainly on user requests.

As for the desert/light brown texture, there WILL be a desert/ reddish brown texture, kind of similar to thunder mountain.

One new piece...

The ground cover piece... will work like "flowers".

So you can create more realistic cave floors.

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/9296/cave2cb8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The ground cover floor peice will allow you to create more realistic cave floors and is great for really BIG caves.

Of course, it works great for above ground landscapes as well.

6 textures, plus one colorable. So 7 in total.

Cool, Thunder Mountain :) !
btw, can you place that ground cover above your path, or is it to low?
There are three path covers. One that is a flat floor. One that follows the terrain, and can be raised to different levels (above the ground). And one that hugs the ground, like the flowers.

Colorable ... makes sense ... "Blue Mountains Western Park" "Green Hills Park", "Red Rock Park" "Yellow Stone National Park" ;)

Okay ...expect for "Barbies' Pink Mountains Adventure Park" I couldn't find a usage for violett stalagtites ... but I think it over again. :)

Just wondering, will there be a piece that you can cover the cave with? Because if the ground piece works like a flower than you can't make it float.
You can use the big, chunky flat piece for quick cave ceilings. Or, use a mixture of the other rock pieces for a more natural look.

Any plans of realese date?
Probably a couple more weeks. Depends on how much time I get to work on this.

Shyguy, even with doing that, It would be pretty hard to plop a coaster underneath it. I mean I have done it before with the peak being terrain, but it is kinda annoying especially when there are multiple rides that go 100 feet underneath the peak.

Shyguy just one question. Do you use the textures as doublesided or single? I just ask, because of the mountain. I remember the first Matterhorn-set by DisFan1, where you always see the outside when you inside the mountain. Maybe you see through your objects too, if you place anything inside them.

I know, that you build the mountain with the single objects of your set and not as a complete object, but it's just a question, that interest me.

And BTW: The new texture looks great.

This one's for me :p <ROFL>

That's a so stupid idea, that I think, we both should give it a try and build this together. :p What do you think??

The mountain is raised terrain, covered with path covers. It's solid terrain. You can't go inside unless you create tunnels. But if you build a mountain using the rock pieces and create open spaces inside, you won't see through them.

I agree with you. This should be used in conjunction with other textures. The other red rock set would work very well with this one. This wasn't really designed to be a ground cover. The example pic above was done quickly, and to show off some of the things that could be done.
