I've completed my first simple object in Milkshape and would like to move on to something else simple but useful. I've searched high and low and far and wide but can't seem to find tutorials for creating such things as benches, wallcovering, path covering, etc. I've been to Vodhin's and Xtreme RCT3 sites but can't seem to find what I need. I downloaded Vodhin's image background and that is quite helpful in Milkshape but I'm uncertain how to proceed with making the benches the specific height required for the Peeps to park their butts.
Can anyone help please? I can't really download Sketchup it's 32 MB and I'm on lowspeed dialup.
Thanks.

I am going to help you as best I can.For people sitting .5 meters is perfect. For people to actually"sit"you need to add an effect point,I use Sketchup,so I do not know exactly how this applies to Milkshape but...you need to"write"text that points to either where their heel will be,or bottom,I do not know which one exactly,I have seen people use both.On the import: when choosing your model there is a blank area in the bottom left corner, click the"A." If you set up your effect points right they should appear there, select one of them, and click the"E" button.A menu should pop up,there should be a"star"in the right corner, click it,then select the effect you would like, this is also where you make lights, and vendors.Hope this helps, sorry for my not-so-exactness.

The way I figured things out was by maing a bunch of boxes at different sizes, that gave me the knowledge of how big the scale is.

My thanks to both of you. Vodhin, should I be sticking with using Milkshape or should I bite the bullet and try to download one of the others, like Sketcher? Those overnight downloads are a darn nuisance and iffy at best but I have done it in the past. Do you have a preference for which would be better? As I've said I'm reasonably familiar with making CC for Sims2 but am starting all over from scratch here.

Hi Obie,

I use Milkshape too and I do the same as Vodhin, I make different boxes, in different sizes and place them around the axis, save them, import them in the game and see how they look. Then I start it all over again and again. Dont give up too fast. Sketchup is maybe easier, but if you have anytime reached the level to create animated scenery you will see, that Milkshape is the right choice.

If I get permission from anyone you've created Milkshape-releated tutorials for RCT3, I will host all those tutorials as PDF's on my server.

I'm running Vista and have no idea where to find my custom scenery in my RCT3 files. According to the Beginners Tutorial for the Cusom Scenery Exporter, they should be in a file here:\RCT3 Installation Directory\Style\Themed in a subdirectory called PrefixThemename. I have so such files that I can find even with search. I know they're installed because they showed up in my game but I want to delete one because it didn't quite work out. Thanks.
Meantime I went ahead and downloaded sketchup last night, it only took two tries at 2.5 hours each. Ah the joys of living in Paradise and tolerating lowspeed dialup. :bulb: Yes, please, by all means if you can find more Milkshape tutorials do link them. I had all of Josh's at one point but unless I have it on a disc somewhere, they're gone now since I changed computers. I will follow yours and Vodhin's advice about the cube sizes. I'll still have to learn how to animate the benches in Milkshape though, I've done bone assignments for hair meshes but not for objects. I'll post back when I either have another question:noob: or when I have a pretty new bench to show off. Thanks again.:)
