Recent wave of spambots in this section

Lately, it seems we get at least one spambot thread per day here in this section. I understand that Atari (like all other forums) employs some counter-bot measures, but it seems that they just aren't sufficient.

Is there any chance the registration process could be slightly modified?

Then again, it's possible that someone is manually registering accounts and using them, but.... Ah, whatever.

Thanks for posting your concerns. We're aware of this issue and are currently in the process of finding better ways to decrease the amount of spam on the forum. Unfortunately, the spam bots are bypassing image verification system on the registration page. I am looking into other image verification modifications. Also, we usually block any common spam IPs that come through here.

I know what you mean. :( Though I have mentioned this to Ciel and she has looked into solutions for this. At this time all I can do is check often to see if a non-relevant thread has been posted. I do thank Skipper, biogal and Marby for the assistance on banning the bot & ad spam accounts.

Yeah, I can understand how it'd be difficult to employ more effective measures. Image verification is the more than what I usually see.
