The Witcher Error/ Crash

I was playing The Witcher and for the past 2 days it's been crashing and giving me an application error that states ,"Faulting application witcher.exe, version 1.2.0.1160, faulting module witcher.exe, version 1.2.0.1160, fault address 0x00314764."
anyone know what this means and how i can correct it? Please and thanks
