Hi,

Does anyone know if Atari's going to create a patch so that this game will run in Vista?

Thanks,

Matt

80's Classic Game Will Not run In VISTA ( Vista has to many problems ).Vista does not recognise anything older than 2006. anything older than that there is alot of re wrighting in the programs for VISTA to accept it. I Bought A new computer and had the same problem ,So I Wiped Out VISTA and put in XP sp1 & sp2 and had no problem with any games that i have.

Matt and Nighthawk, I am having the same problem, runs great undere XP but won't run under Vista. But to Matt's question, does anyone know if Atari has plans to upgrade this game package so that it WILL run under vista in the near future?

I have contacted Atari on this situation, and at this time they have no updated patches for this . If there is a patch to do this I have not seen or heard of it just yet.
If I hear of something I will pass it on.
Here is something you might want to try , Disable Vista and run your games in XP 2 on your System.
I have done that and the games do work but just alittle ( it is noticable ) choppy , not much but still playable ... I Hope that will help you .....

NightHawk, thanks for the information, and thanks for your offer to pass on information that comes your way. I will do the same for you and Matt. Right now, I have an older 1Ghz Gateway computer running XP that I use for the games, but am eager to get this going on my newer (faster) Dell system that has a nice big 20" flat panel monitor. Have a good one!

I do wish I had know about this issue before I'd opened the software

I did experiment with it and found a way to actually play the classic arcade games.........however, the Geek Squad person that I talked to doesn't recommend doing it as it could possibly corrupt the Vista operating system............ like it isn't full of bugs as it is :p

*WARNING!!!! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!*
Insert the disc into your drive. If you have auto-run enabled, at this point you can either close the window, or open the game. If you open it, you can click play and select the classic arcade games, then right click on each to see the settings and controls for each one. When you finish changing your settings, you can exit the game....or look at the bonus content if you want to.

If you have exited the game or had closed the auto-run window, click Start, then Computer. Find your disc drive and right-click it, then select Explore. Locate the Games file and open it, then right click each game, select Properties and set each one to run in XP compatibility mode. Now you can double click the game of your choice and play it with the setting changes you've already made. If for some reason you want or need to change the setting again, just exit the Games folder and click the StartMe icon in open drive file(set it to XP mode also).

I haven't figured out how to get the 2600 games to run yet, or even if it's possible.............

Like I said, the tech I talked to about this recommends not trying to run this software since it isn't truly compatible with Vista. He was very surprised that I even got those 19 games to run at all :D;)
