i recently bought the witcher and i'm having a problem. I can't even get the game to load. I've downloaded the patch and tried it with and without the patch and get the same result. It gives an error message that says: (APILOADER)-Entrypoint 'GetProcessId' in 'KERNAL32.dll' not found!
Anyone seen this and know what to do?

Hi winky, Your description was a little vague. I am assuming you had the game installed in order to get the patch. As much as I hate to suggest this, you might want to unistall the game and reinstall it. You also might want to Turn off your security apps ( Anti-Virus/ Anti- Spyware) while installing as they can interfere with and corrupt the installation of the game. coastie65

I can not even get my computer to recognize the disk. I have a brand new Vaio, with a 2.5ghz dual core running Vista, and it will not even recognize the cd is in the drive. I go to run and type in the pathway and setup, and it tells me there is an i/o error. Could it be becuase I have a blue ray drive? I wouldn't think so, as every other game i have has no issue. Any help woul dbe much appreciated, I am pissed and have been waiting for three weeks for a response from atari!

Hey, That BluRay drive could well be an issue. It shouldn't be, but then again who knows. Personally, I would be reluctant to run a BluRay/HD Optical drive as a stand alone for just that reason. I recently ran into that problem with another game that had previously installed with no problem. I went to reinstall it and it wouldn't read the disk. In a last ditch effort I ran an Optical Drive cleaner which seemed to help. You might find some help at www.thewitcher.com/forums (http://www.thewitcher.com/forums) in their tech help section, as this issue has come up over there as well. coastie65

If the disc has SecuROM copy protection, that may be causing this problem. Try SecuROM's site and see if they can help you. link (http://www.securom.com/support_enduser.asp?t=2&ts1=6)

I'd hate to suggest this for others but it has worked for me. I upgraded to vista, which i really don't like, but the game runs fine on vista for me now. the biggest problem i'm having with vista is many of my older games won't work now but at least it solved my prob with the witcher. which is a really fantastic game btw.
