Not sure who's seen this, but here you go. It's just been announced, I think. Got this from a Universal travelocity rep.

LIGHTS . . . CAMERA . . . COASTER!

Universal Orlando Resort Announces Brand-New Roller Coaster

That Features Total Immersion Entertainment and Puts Guests In The Director’s Seat

ORLANDO, FL (March 19, 2008) – Adrenaline pumping and music thumping, you find yourself heading straight toward the sky. Suddenly, you are doing 65 mph, 17 stories over Universal Studios. Gasping with excitement, you rock out to a song you picked before strapping in. And, it’s all on video. Once the adventure is over, you edit the video to send to your friends.

This is true high-tech, customizable, multi-sensory entertainment. Scheduled to open in spring 2009, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will stake its claim as the most technologically advanced roller coaster in the world. The Universal Creative team is combining audio and special effects engineering, sophisticated on- and off-board video and one-of-a-kind guest personalization to create a roller coaster experience unlike any other.

“This is the perfect intersection of the digital age and theme park entertainment,” said Mark Woodbury, President of Creative for Universal Parks & Resorts. “Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit blends roller coaster intensity and guest interaction in a way where no two experiences will be the same.”

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit touts six near-miss moments and first-ever thrills including a record-breaking loop. Ride vehicles feature the brightest and most innovative color changing LEDs in the world. High-energy visual displays fill the queue line. With up to four ride vehicles on the tracks at any given time, and with concert lighting and special effects mixed in, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be a true high-intensity, multi-sensory experience that is unmatched.

Guests can customize their ride experience by choosing what song will play while they’re on the roller coaster. LED boards in the queue lines will display song options from five genres (classic rock, rap, country, pop and soundtracks). Once on-board, guests can choose their song or let the coaster’s digital sound system choose for them. When the ride is over, guests will be able to customize footage from their experience and compile it into a take-home music video.

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be located near the Jimmy Neutron attraction traveling the southern perimeter of the Universal Studios theme park, over to the CityWalk lagoon and back.

Thanks for adding the artwork, I thought it attached from the email I sent, but I guess not. I can't wait to see the specs on it.

Maurer-Sohne

I’ve got one more important item to note however about this coaster. A Screamscape source tells us that the article is wrong on a few important facts. They tell us that the coaster will have no inversions at all. It will instead have a ton of heavily banked and over-banked turns and one major unique feature… the world’s first non-inverting loop. It will look like a vertical loop at first, but the track will twist around as you go up allowing the train to go over the top of the loop upright, then twist and dive on the way down to keep you upright again.

From the description and concept are, that most defiantly seems like an X-Car coaster. Would what be the first in the US? But correct me if I wrong just the cars are suitable for new inversions and such and well, there is a pic of the cars! The track seems to change in the pic, from like intamin to a mix between B&M and that new vekoma style track (like on the motor bike coasters).
Edit: ^Awww, you beat me :(.

^It's only concept art at this time. Wait till more info comes out and you should get a more accurate rendering of the coaster. ...though I do think it'll be the Maurer-Sohne's X-Car.

Awww.Maurer-Sohne? I was hoping this would have been a B&M like the HollywoodDream coaster hyper in Japan.
Yes,I was wondering what that twisty thingy in the picture was. Thanks Alpengeist for that info.

I guess they see that 'Led Zeppelin' ride as a threat.

^ Not quite, considering Myrtle Beach is some 4 states away.

This sounds like it should be a fun coaster, and it is great to hear that the features which were introduced with Hollywood Dream: The Ride at Universal Studios Japan will be carried over to this coaster.

Still it's in the same country and uses the same idea.

This sounds like it's going to be awesome! Even though I liked the idea of a Fast and the Furious roller coaster, this idea is better than some others Universal has had.

I'm glad it'll mostly be going through CityWalk so it won't crowd up the entrance and make it look like Hollywood Dream. Hollywood Dream at USJ really takes away from the themeing, and I'm glad that USF realized that. ;)

Hmm... as much as I like new coasters, I worry that this may, for lack of a better term, 'mess up' the theme of Universal. Of course, I can't say anything until actual construction begins, but I must say I'm hesitant.

After seeing this,

the general area where the coaster is supposed to be located, I feel a lot better about what the attraction will do to the atmosphere of Universal. I'm actually excited now!

You should be so lucky to visit Universal again, Snoo Snoo. As a matter of fact, do us all here in Florida a favor and don't come. You anti-Disney you.:p

^ I built a park with no theming, just concrete and tents, and masses of steel and wood pilled on top of each other in my sleep...just for you.

BTW, that picture lifted a big weight off my shoulders. For a second I thought it was gonna go over Hollywood Blvd. *shudder*
