Hmm, I like them the same. But going to alton seems more like a treat because I go there much less often. I have to say that I do prefer alton but getting there is tiresom compared to a 10 minute drive to thorpe.

I would say Alton Towers because I love the theme of the areas and especially the Castle/mansion. Can Thorpe Park say they have a castle that was there before 1412, I dont think so.

^ Yes, but Thorpe has been dug out of sedimentary rock from millions of years ago :p

Thorpe Park is the 'thrill park'.
Chessington World of Adventures is the 'kids park'.
Alton Towers is the 'all-round family park'.

They all work together to be amazing.

I vote Alton, as it's got the best of the other two.

I vote Alton, out of personal preference.

Also; shouldn't this be in the Amusement Park Industry section?

I prefer Thorpes' collection of flat ride, but I do love walking around the Towers. The only problem with both is that they close too damn early.

Alton by a million miles.

- I hate the atmosphere of Thorpe.

- There's no sense of grandeur and historical depth that you get at Alton.

- The scenery and theming at Alton Towers is beautiful.

- Nemesis shouldn't be compared to Nemesis Inferno. Alton's invert is superior to it in so many ways.

- Oblivion, Air and Rita are all great, highly different coasters too.

- I thought Colossus was crap...

...and many more similar reasons.

Quite right, they're not even supposed to be similar, it's just the name, that's it, methinks.
