The Witcher- Launch Game Problem

I received an inquiry on another Forum about a problem with the Witcher. He said He had installed the game and got the Patches. When he clicked on " Launch Game", it gave the message Disk must be in Drive to play the game and the disk was in the drive. I told him to check in My Computer and see if the drive was in fact "seeing" the disk. I haven't gotten an answer as yet. My other thought was that maybe he had messed up when he entered the Key Code. In my case, I had the sequence l2l, which turned out to be an upper case I as in India. His drive seemed to be running OK as it ran everything else. He is getting pretty discouraged and is thinking he might have to trash the game. Incidently, I started the thread at that site, and it has only been somewhat active so far although there seems to be a growing interest in the game. coastie65

Or there could be a problem with the Tages copy protection mechanism - make sure your contact doesn't have any virtual CD or emulation programs such as alchohol 120 or deamonTools as these will stop the game from working.

Thanks For the quick response. I haven't heard anymore from him so hopefully he as got his issues resovled and is happily playing. I've seen those problems mentioned elsewhere as well, and could well be the problem. coastie65

I'm having the same problem. I've just installed the game, and have installed the 1.2a patch, and registered the game. The launcher comes up, but when I first came to "Play" the game, I get the message "Please Insert Original DVD of The Witcher".

Any ideas?
