You know that you could just search wiki, don't you?
Besides, it was made by Toriyama-sensei, you can tell it's an anime just from that.

You have an avatar of Cell, and you can't recognize the artstyle of Akira Toriyama? He also made the Dragon Quest characters in several of those games.
So just letting you know, Blue Dragon is a video game for the X-Box 360 and the character designs were by Toriyama, there also is a manga, and now an anime (coming soon to Cartoon Network's Toonami).

Anime, Cartoon their both the same frickin' thing.
The anime is actually very poor when compared to the game and doesn't take anything which made the game so great into account.
For example(s):
Shu and the group are much younger; six years younger. They're 10 in the anime where they are 16 and up in the game.
In the anime, Shu and Jiro are enemies and do not hail from the same town, where as in the game they are both best friends.
MaruMaro is a pervert(Which is pretty much a given being a Toriyama toon & all).
Anime's story is much different and is more light hearted than it's counterpart.
The shadows all speak and have their own colors.
Shu's voiced by Yuri Lowenthall(Dean from Wild ARMS 5), where in the game he's voiced by Mona Marshall(Izzy from Digimon, Young Ichigo)
The cartoon is absolutely TERRIBLE in comparison.

One thing to say there.
Cartoon = 30 minute segment of a slapstick episode put together with no storyline at all to it.
Anime = 30 minute or more of a actual storyline put together.
Examples being American Based Cartoons = Cartoons and just that. not even a storyline. Spongebob ring a bell?

They're both animated, drawn by humans(in most cases) and are brightly colored. They're cartoons in my eyes and I see no difference.

And yet you do things with a Deviant art account and you call yerself an artist. My god.. Anyone can actually see what the comparison is. Sure dimwits (no offense) can see it is either or seeing how its just colored images put together into frames.
But thats the basic ordeal. The real ordeal is what the reason was for it. Anime has either a storyline or a segment in recent current events.
a cartoon is more a nonlinear storyline and just random antics for a character to be put together.

Only thing I don't like about the anime(even though I haven't played the game) is that it has too many cartoonish moments.

the hell is wrong with you? lol its a cartoon... you go any normal person on a street and hold up at picture of Goku and they will be like, "Hey thats the cartoon my son/daughter/sister etc watches" anime is just short for animation... and based on your logic, Shin Chan, (a slap stick "Anime") would be a "cartoon" and a show like G.I. Joe would be an "anime" lol
Would you call Avatar an Anime because of its tone? and not being slap stick even if it was made in america?
And the Blue Dragon anime is retarded the only thing Toriyama had to do with it is that he was the charcter designer...

Not really. Batman, Superman, Static Shock, X-Men, and a bunch of other cartoons have some nice storylines. You're just generalizing.
And all anime fall under the broad category we call "cartoons".

Um there are actually a lot more animes on other channels besides Cartoon Network.
Sci-Fi Channel has a block called Ani-Monday. They are soon getting Gurren Lagann.
Starz shows anime on Fridays (IIRC).
I think IFC also shows stuff on occassion.
Of course there was more, but I think Colors (which was showing a block of the Funimation Channel's stuff) cancelled, not sure if FUSE shows anime anymore, and G4 has not shown an anime in over a year (or more).
Then there are the On Demand (or maybe they are real channels now) of Funimation Channel, and Anime Network (which might be in trouble since it is done by ADV).

A couple months ago (when I had access to Colors), I remember them still being up and running. Unless they cancelled it in those few months. They showed Case Closed, Negima, Fruits Basket, Yu Yu Hakusho, and more.

Well I think they did get rid of it, unless it just plays on the Weekend now.
I looked at the schedule for tommorow, and nothing, unless it is called "Fun TV" now...
http://www.colourstv.org/site/
BTW they do have NWA Wrestling on there now...and it's NOT TNA wrestling (cause TNA used to be an NWA branch).

What are you, high? Avatar ring any bells? Samurai Jack ring any bells? Star Wars Clone Wars ring any bells? Stop being such a oblivious separatist. The word anime is nothing but animation shortened. Sure our definition of anime is Japanimation but ironically enough there anything animated there is anime.
